Abstract

Pandemic brings a crisis. This makes world leaders have to work hard and smartly in managing state budgets. During the heyday of Islam, Muslims also faced crises. Given that time the power of Islam mastered many areas of the world, it can be assumed that the crisis that occurred in the past was a global crisis as it is happening today. The difference is the crisis that occurred at the time because of losing the war. This paper tries to describe the historical experience of the esham, one of the fiscal instruments in the Islamic world that helped the Ottoman Empire overcome the crisis. Esham has mobilized low-cost funds from the public in a relatively concise time. Esham served as a better choice than looking for foreign debt. As the origin of sukuk, esham has simpler structure so that can be used as an alternative to sukuk with a lower cost. To deal with a crisis, esham may intervene in the economy. Esham funds to the real sector in turn will help the government drive the economy as well as control prices in the market for goods and services. Therefore, esham has the potential in facing the crisis.

Abstract

Islam and Aceh are inseparable like two sides of a coin. The Serambi Makkah Country in the daily activities of its people is closely related to islamic sharia, including muamalah activities. Long before the existence of Islamic financial institutions in Indonesia, the people of Aceh had implemented cooperation in the field of muamalah as well as the mudharabah concept in Islamic financial institutions, known as mawah. Mawah is a concept of cooperation between capital owners and managers with a profit-sharing system. But the concept of mawah is still limited to cooperation in agriculture and animal husbandry, so it is necessary to development efforts in other spheres to be able to sustain the economy of the people of Aceh, as Denmark successfully developed this concept. This study uses qualitative methods by researching natural object conditions and is supported by a literature review. The results of the study revealed the need for government intervention in developing this concept in order to be optimal in developing the economy of the people of Aceh.

Abstract

This study aims to see the extent of the influence of the level of Inflation (CPI), Exchange Rate (kurs), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) and Non Performing Financing (NPF) on the Stability of Islamic Banks in Indonesia Period 2015-2019. To support research, we use the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) methodology. VECM test results show that in the short term the significant effect on the level of stability are Kurs and CAR, with the direction of a negative relationship (reducing the level of stability). Meanwhile, in the long term the significant effect on the level of stability are inflation and Kurs with the direction of a negative relationship (reducing the level of stability). From the results of this study it can be concluded that the macroeconomic variables significantly affect the stability of Islamic banking, therefore the government has an important role in controlling macroeconomic turmoil to maintain Islamic banking stability. Besides that, the internal variables of the banking sector are considered to have no significant effect partially, therefore it is necessary to conduct further research with a variety of internal factors in the banking industry to prove their effects on the stability of Islamic banking

Abstract

The emergence of bitcoin as a means of transaction and investment in the virtual world is intriguing to be studied. Many countries in the world have different perspectives upon the law of bitcoin itself. In Indonesia, the regulation on electronic money is in Indonesian Bank Regulation Number 20/6/PBI/2018 and MUI Fatwa Number 116/DSN-MUI/IX/2017. However, both have not specifically regulated bitcoin. As something new, bitcoin is necessary to be studied in the perspective of Islamic law. The research is a literature study utilizing content analysis to approach the data. The findings of the results are that bitcoin as a means of transaction is permissible (mubah) since there is a similar handover (taqabudh)--that there is a bitcoin to handover, there is no gambling (maisir), speculation (gharar), haram, riba, and false, and that the transactions is on a willingness basis (antharodin) of the both parties. Second, bitcoin as a means of transaction is haram if there is an uncertainty which is close to gharah and maisir, bitcoin as an investment tool has more damages than benefits.

The results showed that the level of Islamic financial inclusion in Indonesia was classified as low during the study period and DKI Jakarta Province was the most inclusive province in Indonesia. Furthermore, this study analyzes the effect of the Islamic financial inclusion index on Islamic financing channeled to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. Using the saturated sampling method, a total of 33 provinces in Indonesia were selected as samples with an observation period. The results show that the Islamic Financial Inclusion Index (IIK) has a significant positive effect on sharia financing channeled to the MSME sector, one of the regions that appears to be growing faster than other regions is Aceh. This research is different from previous financial sector inclusiveness studies that still see and study conventional (non-sharia) financial inclusion and find out the impact of sharia financial inclusion based on sharia financial inclusion indexes on sharia financing distributed to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Indonesia and discuss comprehensively for MSME.

Abstract

Islam provides fundamental sources for human development, including ukhuwah Islamiyah, ashabiah and rahmatan lil ‘alamin. These concepts are strategic in developing the economy of the state. The current article aims to analyze the economic development in Medina carried out by the Prophet Muhammad. The authors employed a qualitative method through narrative reviews of the extant literature. The study shows that before the hijrah of the Prophet, Medina was already a multicultural and heterogeneous society with many prolonged conflicts.. The Prophet devised a strategic approach to build the Medina economy and society. Ukhuwah Islamiyah was used to unify differing, often conflicting cultures, beliefs, and ethnicities to form a strong brotherhood. Ashabiah was applied to tighten the glue among society members, creating high social solidarity. Upon the perfection of Medina, the apostolate of rahmatan lil ‘alamin leads to a universal, inclusive, and sustainable economic development.
