Abstract

Gelatin is a fibrous protein obtained by partial denaturation of collagen. Traditionally, gelatin derived  from mammals’ skins and bones, such as cow and pork. However, both mammals’ gelatin could risk for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and foot mouth disease (FMD), besides, gelatin extracted from pork is prohibited in Islam rules. Therefore, fish processing waste is potential as a source of gelatin in terms of starry triggerfish (Abalistes stellaris) skin gelatin. The aims of this study is to characterize physichochemical of gelatin extracted from skin of starry triggerfish. The methods used in this research, experiment with completely randomized design (CDR) by soaking different concentrations of citric acid (0.2; 0.4; and 0.6 M). The results showed that the concentrations of citric acid  had significantly different (P0.05) on the yield, viscosity, gel strength, and fat content of starry triggerfish skin gelatin. On the other hand, the pH, melting point, galling point, protein, moisture, and ash value of starry triggerfish skin gelatin did not perform significantly different (P0.05). The most properties of starry triggerfish skin gelatin meet the commercial gelatin, and it is able to as a potential alternative of halal gelatin.

Abstract

Escherichia coli is a normal flora in the digestive system of laying hens that are non-pathogenic, which can change into pathogens and cause the egg production to decrease. So the combination of Lactococcus lactis and Lactobacillus acidophilus probiotics is expected to be able to overcome E. coli and become a substitute for the antibiotics (Virginiamycin) in animal feed. This study aims to determine business analysis including Break Event Points (BEP), Revenue Cost Ratio (R / C Ratio), Payback Period (PP) and Return On Investment (ROI). The best results obtained for the calculation of Break Event Point (BEP) on a0b2 treatment with a BEP of Rp. 17,587,24 with BEP production on a1b2 of 14,36 kg, Revenue Cost Ratio (R / C Ratio) generates a value of 1,543 for treatment a0b2, Payback Period (PP) generates a value of 1 year 3 months 9 days and Return On Investment (ROI) generates a value of 3. It was concluded that the a0b2 treatment had good results to be developed.

Abstract

Most agricultural land in lndonesia has a low organic matter content, and this is due to the fast decomposition rate of soil organic matter. The rapid decomposition of soil organic matter causes low soil fertility. To maintain high agricultural yields, it is necessary to add soil organic matter repeatedly in each planting season with a high dose ( 10 tons / ha). Farmers considered that the addition of high-dose organic matter to their agricultural land is not economical and difficult to do. Therefore, soil organic matters which is resistant to decomposition is needed, so that it can last longer in the soil. One of the recalcitrant soil organic matter is biochar, and many studies have shown that biochar can reduce the need for nitrogen in the next cropping season. Previous research has shown that biochar can be enriched with nitrogen as an organic fertilizer. This study aims to study the effect of biochar which has enriched nitrogen from ammonium on the growth and yield of maize. The study was conducted in Landungsari Village, Malang City in July to December 2018. This study used a randomized block design (RBD) with combinations of 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments in this study were: B0 (control); B1 (nitrogen fertilizer 90 kg / ha); B2 (nitrogen fertilizer 90 kg / ha + biochar); B3 (biochar enriched with ammonium sulfate 4 tons / ha); B4 (manure 4 tons / ha + nitrogen f'ertilizer 90 kg / ha). The results of the study showed that biochar enriched with ammonium sulfate at a dose of 4 tons / ha increased the growth and yield of maize. Biochar enriched with ammonium sulfate shows the ability to hold nitrogen which can then be released in the soil in the form of NH4 + to be absorbed by plants.

Abstract

Traditional settlements are places that still hold customary and cultural values related to beliefs or religion that are specific or unique to a particular society. In each region of Nusantara there are various cultures, and in it there are traditional settlements as identities. This research is located in the Sendiki beach area which is a tourist attraction in the southern Malang district, precisely in the village of Tambakrejo. The problem is the diminishing public awareness in preserving the existence of settlement forms because of the current of modernization. The unique settlement pattern model in the village of Tambakrejo lined up along the road following the traditional settlement pattern of Tanean Lanjeng, because the settlements were dominated by Madura race. On the other hand because it is located in East Java, the formation of his house was also adapted to the building form of joglo. Another problem is the low public awareness in maintaining environmental quality which impacts the degradation of ecosystem quality. The aims of this research include identifying the architectural forms of houses, landscapes and traditional settlements in the village of Tambakrejo, as an effort to preserve them. The research method was conducted qualitatively by analyzing the data using Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The research thinking is adapted to the ideas of Rapoport. The stages of research start from the identification of physical, biophysical, socio-cultural and economic aspects, to the description of analysis and synthesis in settlement patterns and traditional homes. The results obtained in the form of a description of traditional settlement patterns, the formation of residential architecture and landscape patterns of settlements. The conclusions of this study include documentation of traditional architecture, landscapes and settlements as knowledge to respect the natural environment and culture of the people living.

Abstract

This research is attempt to bring out marketing mix that dominate the consumer behavior in purchasing beef, to know marketing factors model that recognized by consumer to purchase the beef and to know what marketing strategy implemented by Hypermart MATOS. The research conducted from May to July 2018 involving 100 respondents. A purposive sampling methods was carefully used in determining respondents. Research is conducted by gathering data from primary source that is questionnaire and secondary source directly collected from the firm. Primary data analysis processed in order to highlight factor model that considered by consumer and SWOT analysis to describe company’s condition in specifying marketing strategy. The result shows that marketing mix most considered by consumer to purchase the beef including the product it self, place and promotions influences 26,414 percent, 26,165 percent and 22,778 percent, respectively. Factor model we considered including: factor 1 : competitive price and product it self such variable X5 (flavor), X7 (color), X8 (expiration date), X11 (price changes); factor 2 : the package involving variable X1 (packaging form), X2 (the package easy to open), and X3 (packaging materials); factor 3 : display product on show case as variable X4 (product display). Each factor model has their impacts 33,474 percent, 14,948 percent and 11,413 percent, respectively. Marketing strategy growth and build consists of market penetration by selling product in lower price to market segment which is sensitive to price, product development (diversification) referred to product factor model and price comparison, packaging and displays by giving recipes information from each type of beef and market development in order to fit demography condition and beef consumer characteristics in Malang.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find the effect combination probiotic Lactococccus lactis and Lactobacillus casei on the laying hens infected with bacteria Escherichia coli on feed consumption and feed conversion ratio (FCR). The materials used in this experiment were 120 laying hens aged 25 weeks. Feeds were used commercial concentrate produced by PT. New Hope East Java, type 7183A. In this study were added of six treatments that is (a0b0) chicken without infection and without treatment, (a0b1) chicken without infection plus Antibiotic Growth Promoter (AGP), (a0b2) chicken without infection plus probiotic, (a1b0) chicken infection without treatment, (a1b1) chicken infection plus AGP. (a1b2) chicken infection plus probiotic. Each treatment was repeated four times. The variables measured were are feed consumption (g/bird/day) and feed conversion ratio (%). Data were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), if between treatment showed significant effect were analysed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The result of this research shows that the use of probiotic Lactococccus lactis and Lactobacillus casei on the laying hens infected with bacteria Escherichia coli give a real distinction ( P0,05) towards feed consumption and showed a real distinction (P 0.05) towards feed conversion ratio. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that the addition of probiotic Lactococccus lactis and Lactobacillus casei on the laying hens infected with bacteria Escherichia coli can improve feed consumption, feed conversion ratio (FCR) of laying hens, hen day production (HDP) and egg weight.

Abstract

Streets as part of the city's landscape that support  the function and activities of the city. Each street in the city area has a streetscape which aims to support the users activities. Soekarno Hatta street is one of the protocol street in Malang city with the track area which is quite famous and one of the loud route in Malang City. This research aims to: 1) identify vegetation on the streetscape on Soekarno Hatta street; 2) analyze thermal comfort on the Soekarno-Hatta streetscape. Based on the observation, it is known that the trembesi population dominates at the Soekarno Hatta streetscape. Soekarno Hatta street has an average temperature of 31.1 ° C and an average humidity of 57%. Soekarno Hatta street has THI value of 28.43 whereas THI value which is categorized as comfortable is between 21 - 27. Based on the physical observation on Soekarno Hatta streetscape needs to be done vegetation arrangement because the vegetation in Soekarno Hatta Street has a high density of trees that will interfere with canopy growth when reaching the maximum size. Selection of appropriate shade vegetation and regular maintenance is expected to improve the comfort level in each way. In addition to vegetation, the physical condition of the pedestrian on Soekarno Hatta Road also needs a redesign to support the comfort of pedestrians.

Abstract

Horticulture plant is essential component of agricultural development. It brings benefits products horticulture meet their food needs , aesthetic and to maintain health and environment. Climate change and the limited resources land causing loss for farmers food crops and horticulture. The purpose of drafting this paper is to inform the utilization of technology greenhouse and hydroponics as solutions to deal with climate change in the cultivation of plants horticulture. To get the result harvest season which is satisfying in the cultivation of plants horticulture , need to pay attention to environmental factor growing plants. The utilization of greenhouse in the cultivation of plants is one of a manner to give the environment that were more accessible for the condition of optimum position for the growth of plants. The use of hydroponics in cultivation crop can be implemented in greenhouse to keep the growth of plants optimally and protected from outside influences

Abstract

This research is to determine the Pb and Cd heavy metal content in Strombus sp and waters of Bukit Bestari District, Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands Province. The method of this research is purposive sampling method. The instrument used to determine the Pb and Cd heavy metal content is AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry). The results of the study showed that the Pb content in seawater at stations I, II, III was 0.611 mg / L, 0.563 m / L, 0.595 mg / L . The results obtained in sediments at stations I, II, III are 10,488 mg / kg, 8,376 mg / kg, 10,052 mg / kg. The results found on Strombus sp at stations I, II, III were 1,975 mg / kg, 1,275 mg / kg, 1,031 mg / kg. For research results on Cd in Strombus sp at stations I, II, III are 0.036 mg / kg, 0.035 mg / kg, station 0.031 mg / kg. The value obtained is the average results obtained from each sub station.
