Abstract

Abstract

Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) is an alternative protein source for livestock. This research aimed to know the effectiveness of BSFL for commercial feed substitution, related to production, productivity, and profitability in quail farm. This study used 80 quails which divided into 4 groups and each group consist of 20 quails. The treatments contained BSFL substitution with different composition, control group (P0) was given 100% commercial feed, (P1) was given a 5% BSFL substitution, (P2) was given a 10% BSFL substitution and (P3) was given a 20% BSFL substitution. Contribution margin (CM) analysis was used to determine the yields of the groups in this study. Results showed that the highest feed consumption rate is in P3, production (egg in total and weight), productivity and yields in P3 is the highest, although there's no difference between P0, P2 and P3 based on the analysis MANOVA.  BSFL substitution at 20% is recommended to the farmers to increase profits.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the use of probiotics Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium sp on feed consumption and Hen Day Production (HDP) laying hens which infected by Escherichia coli. Arround 120 layers at the age of 25 weeks are divided into six treatments. Each treatment consisted of factor a (infection and non-infection Escherichia coli) and factor b (basal feed, AGP and probiotics). The result of this study shows that giving probiotic has taken an effect (p<0,05) on the feed consumption and HDP. The infection factor takes effect (p <0.05) on HDP but it does not take effect (p>0,05) on the feed consumption. There is interaction among probiotic factor and infection (p>0.05) on HDP but it has no effect (p> 0.05) on feed consumption. The highest feed consumption is found in the giving of non-infectious probiotics that is 114.7 g and the highest HDP which is from the giving of non-infectious probiotics is 98.6 %. In conclusion, the giving of probiotic Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium sp are able to produce well perform product and the high profit.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the use of probiotics Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium sp on variable cost, income and profit layers hens was infected with Escherichia coli. About 120 layers at 25 weeks of age were randomized into six treatments. The treatment consisted of factors a (infection and non-infection Escherichia coli) and factor b (basal feed, AGP and probiotics). The results of the study gave probiotics an effect (p <0.05) on variable cost, income and profit. Infection factors have an effect (p <0.05) on income and profit, but have no effect (p> 0.05) on variable cost. There was interaction between probiotic and infection factors (p <0.05) on income and profit, but there was no interaction (p> 0.05) between probiotic and infection factors on variable cost. The highest variable cost was found in the treatment of non-infectious probiotics is Rp 13.594, the highest income was treated with non-infectious probiotics is Rp 26.564, the highest profit was treated with non-infectious probiotics is Rp 12.969. It could be concluded that the administration of probiotics can produce good production performance.

Abstract

Escherichia coli is a normal flora in the digestive system of laying hens that are non-pathogenic, which can change into pathogens and cause the egg production to decrease. So the combination of Lactococcus lactis and Lactobacillus acidophilus probiotics is expected to be able to overcome E. coli and become a substitute for the  antibiotics (Virginiamycin) in animal feed. This study aims to determine business analysis including Break Event Points (BEP), Revenue Cost Ratio (R / C Ratio), Payback Period (PP) and Return On Investment (ROI). The best results obtained for the calculation of Break Event Point (BEP) on a0b2 treatment with a BEP of Rp. 17,587,24 with BEP production on a1b2 of 14,36 kg, Revenue Cost Ratio (R / C Ratio) generates a value of 1,543 for treatment a0b2, Payback Period (PP) generates a value of 1 year 3 months 9 days and Return On Investment (ROI) generates a value of 3. It was concluded that the a0b2 treatment had good results to be developed.

Abstract

Abstract Community service of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Universitas Airlangga aimed to overcome problems related to the continuous supply of animal feed. This implementation of community service activities in collaboration with Pupus Village, Lembeyan District, Magetan Regency. The activities started from preparation to implementation in July – September 2021. This program introduces the use of agricultural waste and secondary crops for the manufacture of haylage feed and the manufacture of Temulawak Molasses Block (TMB) to increase the productivity of beef cattle and also as an effort to increase the income and prosperity of farmers. The method used to achieve the output target is through coaching and evaluation. Based on the results of the posttest, it shows an increase in the understanding of farmers about 80% regarding the manufacture of animal feed using the haylage and TMB techniques as a way to provide sustainable animal feed. Abstract

Mud crab is one of the fishery commodity which potential to be cultured because it has high economic value. Mud crab has nutrients content such as protein 62,72%, lipid 0,83%, ash 7,5% and water content 9,9%. Trash fish is fresh feed which commonly used as main feed for the growth of mud crab juvenile of 5,3to 13,8%, however Kuniran fish has omega-3 eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) content which is necessary for optimum growth of mud crab. The study method was implemented as the experimental method use Completely Randomized Design (CRD) which consists of five treatments and four replications. The quantity of Crude Fish Oil which is added in trash fish feed on this study are: Treatment A (0%), B (2%), C (4%), D (6%) dan E (8%). The observed parameters are growth of mud crab and feed conversion ratio value. Data analysis use Variant Analysis (ANAVA) and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test to determine differences between treatments. The results shows that addition of Crude Fish Oil in trash feed fish for 32 days of rearing gives significantly different effect (P<0,05) toward length and width of mud crab carapace, meanwhile toward feed conversion value of mud crab doesn’t gives significantly different effect (P>0,05). High length and width  growth of carapace were obtained on D and E treatment. The water quality of mud crab during 32 days of rearing is the temperature range of 28-29°C, pH range of 7,5-9,0, salinity range of 15-21ppt, dissolve oxygen range of 4 mg/l and ammonium range of 0,09-0,27 mg/l.
