Abstract

The study aims to determine the characteristics and effectiveness of photonovella adventure media development for improving the storytelling skills with the place where I live as the theme in high-class students at elementary school. This study used a qualitative approach in the form of data development needs and quantitative in the form of test scores referring to the rubric of the assessment of storytelling skills. Trials were conducted twice, i.e. limited trials and implementation tests. The implementation test was conducted in grade 4 at three elementary schools. The result of this research is characteristic of development of photonovella adventure media has 3 principles based on aspect of development requirement, that is usage effect principle, content of story photonovella, media of story telling. The improvement of storytelling skills can be determined using normalized gain. The result of N-gain calculation showed that the value of g = 0.704, it means that there is a significant increase. The result shows tvalue is 16.616 and ttable is 1.67 which means that the media of photonovella adventure can be applied effectively. The conclusion is the media of photonovella adventure has 3 characteristic principles, and it is also effective for the improvement of storytelling skills.

Abstract

The directive speech acts have many functions. The functions of the directive speech acts include: forcing, inviting, asking, ordering, charging, urging, begging, advising, suggesting, commanding, giving cues, challenging. Folklore text is chosen as the data source due to it contains the utterances used by the characters to interact. The purposes of this research are to describe the function of directive speech acts in Indonesian archipelago folklore text written by Gamal Komandoko and to determine which function of directive speech act is dominant in Indonesian archipelago text written by Gamal Komandoko. The data are collected using observation method and writing technique. The data are analyzed using pragmatic analysis. The results of this study show some functions of directive speech. They are (1) requesting: 7 speeches, (2) begging: 5 speeches, (3) suggesting: 8 speeches, (4) commanding: 6 speeches, (5) ordering: 18 speeches, (6) advising: 1 speech, (7) forcing: 2 speeches, (8) inviting: 4 speeches, (9) prohibiting: 1 speech, (10) challenging: 4 speeches, (11) proposing: 1 speech, (12) giving cues 1 speech. The total of directive speech acts function data in Gamal Komandoko's Indonesian archipelago text are 58 utterances. The dominant function found in the text is the ordering function. This research is expected to be useful for pragmatic studies especially in speech acts.
Traditional Game on The Social Skill of Students in The Social Science Learning of Elementary School

Abstract

The purpose of this research was; to determine the effect of traditional game based learning on the social skill students; and to find the different effect of traditional game based learning and expository learning on social skills students. This type of research is quantitative method with pre-test post-test control group design. Samples of this research were the fourth grade students of SDN Cieurih with 30 students as experimental group and SDN Cipicung with 25 students as control group. Data collection techniques used non-test techniques, including interview guides, observation guidelines, and documentation. The results showed that; there is a significant influence on learning that using traditional game to social skill of students, this is based on independet ttest result 0.00 < 0.05, and N-Gain 0.40 which is in medium category; and there is a very high average, high, sufficient, and low average difference in the social skills of students on traditional game-based learning with expository learning. This is evidenced by the acquisition of one way ANOVA test results of 0.00 < 0.05. Furthermore, post hoc test to determine the most significant group, obtained the largest mean difference in very high group, that is 31.333. The social aspect of tradisional game in social science learning were discussed.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of character education in SD Muhammadiyah (Plus) Salatiga. This research applied descriptive method with qualitative approach. The data analysis was collected through semi-structured interviews, observation and documentation study. The data validity technique was done by using triangulation technique and resources.The results of this study showed that SD Muhammadiyah (Plus) Salatiga has run character education which is integrated in the school's policy, it is evidenced by the inclusion of character values environmental care, religious, autonom, love of the homeland, polite and courteous into the vision, mission and school programs. The characters of honest, thorough, innovative and independent also have been integrated in the classroom, it is seen in the Lesson Plan and the media that were created by teachers.The school also has instilled a religious character, cooperation and empathy in the community-based character education, it is evidenced by their happy Ta'jil event in Ramadan, the distribution of basic food parcels for poor people around the school and pray Eid or Eid al-Adha together, The event was held as gratitude to the cooperation between the school, the bond of students’ guardian, school committees and the school has a strategies plan to outcome by carakter buildings. The problems encountered in this study include the lack of facilities for the implementation of character education, strengthen the character education in the future.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with etnomatematics nuance by using traditional games to improve students problem solving ability. The population in this study was the fourth grade students of SDN Mandirancan, Kebasen, Banyumas Academic Year 2017/2018. Sampling was done by using simple random sampling. Data collection technique applied was problem solving ability tests, observation and documentation. This study was analyzed by using t-test. The results show that (1) the ability of problem solving using PBL models with etnomatematics nuanced by using traditional games has reached the classical completeness 75%, (2) the average scores of problem solving ability by using the model of PBL with etnomatematics nuanced by using traditional games was better than the average scores of problem solving ability by using the model of expository, (3) the average gap of problem solving ability by using the model of PBL with etnomatematics nuanced by using traditional games was better than the average gap of problem solving ability by using expository model. Based on the above results, it can be concluded that the model problem based learning with etnomatematics nuanced by using traditional games is effective in improving students' problem solving ability.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of the social network of facebook on the positive and negative effect toward Elementary School students in Demak. This study applied descriptive qualitative approach with case study research design. The source of data in this study obtained from the purposive sampling technique at elemeentary school in Sector Three of Kebonagong, Demak whose parents work as teachers, farmers, entrepreneurs, military and police officers. Data collection methods applied in this study were observation, semi-structured interviews and documentation study. The data analysis was done by using an interactive model analysis. The trustworthiness of data was confirmEd by using triangulation and resources technique. The result of the analysis showed that the social media of facebook is used by the students to do interaction with other students to share each other informations related to learning task, to remind each other, and to improve the English language skills. The control system of the activities of students maybe significantly influenced by their parents’ profession. At various jobs of parents which require them to stay in the workplace, will lead to less control of parents or give more freedom to their children in using social accounts. In this case, it happened to parents whose profession were entrepreneur. The control system of for profession of teachers, farmers, police officer, and military officer provide more time to their children of give more supervision on their children’ accounts so that their control system is better than those who work as enterpreneur.
The Effectiveness of Guided Inquiry with Mind Mapping to Improve Science Process Skills and Learning Motivation

Abstract

Science learning based on the 2013 curriculum is implemented in scientific inquiry to develop scientific work. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effectiveness of guided inquiry model with mind mapping to improve science process skill and student learning motivation. The research is used quasi experimental model with nonequivalent control group design. Data collection methods used in this research include test methods, observation, interviews and documentation. The data were analyzed by using quantitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the use of guided inquiry model with mind mapping effective to improve science process skill and motivation of fourth grade student of SDN Krobokan. There is a significant difference of science skill score between experimental and control class with significance level of 5%. The acquisition of experimental class obtain N-Gain value of 0.47 in medium category and control class 0.27 in low category. The guided inquiry model with mind mapping is also effective in student learning motivation. This is evidenced by the score of motivation to learn in the experimental class that is 76 on the satisfied category and control class of 72 in good category. The results of correlation test shows a very strong relationship between the science process skills with student learning motivation. It shown from the correlation value of 0.938 with 1% significance level and the direction of positive relationships,. It can be conclude that the higher the score of students' science process skills the higher the student learning motivation.

Abstract

This research was a qualitative research with case study approach. This study has purpose to find out the detail of the implementation of management education in homeschooling Package A Anugrah Bangsa Semarang. This study discussed in depth, covering the planning, implementation and evaluation of the educational programs of homeschooling package A Anugrah Bangsa Semarang. The research subject were the chairman of community learning centers (PKBM) Anugrah Bangsa Foundation Semarang, Principal, Coordinator of package A and tutors of package A. The data collection techniques was done by using in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the planning of homeschooling package A Anugrah Bangsa Semarang was done by identifying the learners, tutors, infrastructure, financing, as well as class grouping. Homeschooling package A Anugrah Bangsa Semarang conducts learning by capturing method. The evaluation of Homeschooling package A Anugrah Bangsa Semarang has featured program of giving ecofarming based live skills.

Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the form of reinforcement which given by teachers on its implementation in elementary school. This qualitative study uses data collecting technique in the form of observation and interview. The data were analyzed by using triangulation method. The results showed that there were two forms of reinforcement given by teachers in elementary school, namely verbal and non verbal reinforcements. Verbal reinforcement consists of 3 forms, namely: the form of verbal reinforcement of word, phrase, and sentence. The form of verbal reinforcement of word consists of 3 forms, namely: the form of verbal reinforcement of the numeral word, adjective, and interjection. The form of verbal reinforcement of phrases consists of 2 forms, namely: verbal reinforcement of verbal phrase and adjective phrase. The form of verbal reinforcement of sentence consists of 3 forms, namely: the form of verbal reinforcement of news sentence, command sentence, and interjection sentence. The reinforcement form that is often provided by the teacher in its implementation ofthe Elementary School is a form of non verbal reinforcement.
Influence of Pictorial Crossword Puzzle Media Toward Vocabulary Mastery and Initial Writing Skills of Elementary School Students

Abstract

The research aims to analyze the influence of pictoral crossword puzzle media toward vocabulary mastery and initial writing skills of the 1st grade of elementary school in the academic year of 2017/2018. The subjects in this study were 38 student of 1st grade of SDN Sampangan 01 as an experiment class and 34 student of 1st grade of SDN Bendan Ngisor as an control class. The experimental design in this research was quasi-experimental design with nonequivalent control group design. The results of the research on vocabulary mastery in the experimental class obtained n-gain of 0.54 in moderate category, while in the control class obtained n-gain of 0.03 in low category. Furthermore, the results of the research on initial writing skills of the experimental class obtained n-gain of 0.35 in moderate category, while the control class obtained n-gain of 0.11 in low category. Thus, it can be concluded that the using of pictorial crossword puzzle media affect to vocabulary mastery and initial writing skills. From these results, it is suggest to teachers to use pictorial crossword puzzles media in learning process in order to enhance vocabulary mastery and initial writing skills.
