Abstract

Conventional cooling systems based on vapor compression have a high coefficient of performance (COP). However shortage of vapor compression cooling systems still using refrigerants that have detrimental effects on the environment. For that purpose, the research of fruit and vegetable storage machine using thermoelectric system TEC1-12706 with temperature control system using arduino. In this study the temperature in the cabin can be stable at 15° C and still feasible for use as a storage of fruits and vegetables.

Abstract

The dependence of solar radiation in generating electricity by PV will have an impact on the PVWPS performance, besides The PVWPS consists many components with different characteristics. Thus this research will investigation the performance conduct economic analysis of PVWPS. To achieve that objective measurement of data starting at 09.00 until 16.00. The data are solar radiation, voltage and current of PV/pump and the time required to fill the container with a certain volume. Analysis data is using the equations that have been predetermined and comparison other research. The results obtained that the water discharge generated by PVWPS will be proportional to solar radiation, as a result the production of electricity generated by PV. The pump efficiency and system is proportional to solar radiation. This phenomenon is the effect of water debit dependence on solar radiation. The result of economic analysis is the price of electricity generated by SPATS is relatively cheap and the water cost for every m3 is inversely proportional to the water discharge generated by the pump.

Abstract

Crashworthiness is an ability of a vehicle structure in order to reduce injury when occurred in collision. Crashworthiness criteria are peak force (Fmax), specific energy absorption (SEA), and crush force efficiency (CFE). The part of structure of vehicle in crashworthiness is front rail which is generally tube as thin walled structure. The aim was to know the best design in thin walled square tube as specimen by variance of crush initiator which arranged holes 3 mm of diameter in shaping stripe with 4 holes, then added graded holes in parallelogram to trigon. This research used compression experiment method under quasi static loading with 30 mm/minute of actuator velocity. Optimum design was done by using Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) with Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) modelling. This research presents that specimen with trigon of crush initiator is the best design with 0.98 of decision score in which crashworthiness criteria for peak force, specific energy absorption and crush force efficiency are 19193.81 N; 5100.93 J/kg; and 46.44%.

Abstract

Generally, wind energy sources in Indonesia's coastal areas is one of the potential sources of renewable energy (renewable energy resources) which are abundant, environmentally friendly and renewable. Savonius wind turbines can produce relatively high torque even at low wind speeds. Because it is very well developed to produce electrical energy. To get a large electric power, a large turbine construction is also needed which also certainly requires a large cost. For this reason, it is necessary to develop the dimensions of this wind turbine construction which is known as aspect ratio (Ar). The Ar that has been researched is the blade section, and other values. While the arch depth or the length of the blade arc in U -type is still likely to be researched. Therefore, it is necessary to do research on the U-type blade arc to get greater power than before. In addition to the experimental method with a prototype of the U type Savonius wind turbine with a number of 2 blades, a software-based simulation method will be carried out to analyze the air flow on the wind turbine blade. Parameters varied only with the aspect ratio of the arc length and blade cross section width, other parameters follow the previous research. This analysis will be a comparative data with experimental methods. The expected simulation results obtain the best aspect ratio (Ar) blade in capturing wind energy.

Abstract

The fence is one of the leading security in maintaining a building. Conventional fence require operator to open and close it, so it does not effective and efficient. This problem can be solved with automated systems. This research aims to design fance system using finger print sensor  based microcontroller arduino, which is equipped with a locking system that use a solenoid. This experimental research is starts from the design, fabrication and testing. Fences made have specifications 3.2 m x 1.5 m with a total weight is 30.67 kg, path lengthis 2.1 m, diameter sprocket 0.03 m, Voltage DC motor is 12 V  and rotation is 195 rpm. The test results showed a good performance conform with its initial design, where a fence can be opened with a fingerprint has been recorded before. Solenoid can open and lock, likewise with the the photodiode can detect object is on the track. The test results obtained there are differences when opening / closing compared with the results design is 20%, with an average voltage is 12.06  V, current is 1 A, rotation is 135 rpm, and the time it takes 9.9 s, where the torque produced is of 0.64 Nm and maximum load can be driven by a DC motor is at 59.97 kg.

Abstract

One of great potential area in the fisheries sector in West Java province is Indramayu District. Percentage of fisheries production which accounts for 60% of the needs of the fishery. Indramayu community, especially the northern coastal areas of Indramayu district of livelihood relies heavily on the this sector. During this process the dried fish production still relies on the natural conditions of the solar thermal. So that when the rainy season the fishermen feel a loss, because of natural heating hampered and finally ignored orders from customers due to the  and declining fish quality, so prices soaring sales doubled. Hence, the need for attention to improving the quality of production of dry fish processing, is one of the way by utilizing the split Air Conditioning (AC) as a heating dehumidifier for drying fish. This equipment is modified by utilizing the waste heat from the condenser as reheat is then added to the electric heater is controlled according to the needs drying, and after that it was blown with using  fan/blower to the drying chamber containing the fish on the shelves are arranged. The results obtained can be analyzed on the performance, drying temperature and relative humidity (RH) or water content is as expected.

Abstract

Heat pump is a device that can be make heat and cool , which is functions as a cooling evaporator can be replaced to be a heating condenser. With adding a heat exchanger in the heat pump can provide better effect of heating and cooling. In this experiment, the heat pump using type hydrocarbon refrigerantand type friendly refrigerant to the environment, one of refrigerant isR-290. From the results that obtained value Coefficient Of Performance (COP) in the heat pump that uses a counter flow heat exchanger is 4.8 while the heat pump that does not use a counterflow heat exchanger obtained COP of 4.1. Efficiencies increase in the heat pump without using counter flow heat exchanger is 74%, otherwise the efficiency decrease of the heat pump using heat pump is 85%.

Abstract

Vital signs can be seen human health than body temperature, breathing, blood pressure, and pulse. In this study, designed a prototype monitoring the health condition of the human heart Microcontroller-based devices using GPRS connection to be made in the form of a small box that consists of two measurement points. The steps taken to design a monitoring system jatung human health is to design a system of hardware and software. The sensor used is Pulse Sensor and IC-LM35 spread across two measurement points. These sensors as detection of heart rate, and changes in body temperature, and heart rate measurement results and the temperature will be read and processed in the microcontroller-based Arduino and the measurement results will be stored in SDcard to log data. If there is a weakening of the heart rate in humans this device will send an emergency signal to the server that is the hospital, then the hospital will conduct an emergency response to pasienya. The results of the measurement of body temperature has an error rate of 0.73% and heart rate measurement with ECG sensor error rate of 3% and with manual measurement error of 2%.
