This may include articles that report results of quantitative or qualitative research studies. Conceptual Idea, publishes articles conceptually relevant to advancing the practice of music and learning, present theories of music, models, or philosophical position, etc. Articles may draw upon theory/or material developed in educational practice that recognize and address a wide range of pedagogical approach that would interest members from a variety of countries and teaching setting, including activities and art materials to help internationalize art curricula.

Abstract

The process of learning in early childhood education and kindergarten is never apart from musical activities, although it is mostly just singing and dancing. Singing is one of the learning activities that is carried out daily from beginning of class to the end of class. Integrated PAUD Satya Wacana Children Center Salatiga provides a form of extracurricular Bina Vokalia at school to support learning, improve and develop student talent in singing. Vocal teaching of children is definitely different than adults, the delivery of the song material should be interesting to learners and in teaching the child's vocal techniques is need patience and technique. In view of today's modern times, many parents are increasingly giving their children activities outside school, especially music. Integrated PAUD Satya Wacana Children Center provides a vocal building learning facility that might develop a child's talent for music. The problem considered in the study is "how the learning process of Bina Vokalia and how the obstacles and solutions to delivering vocal materials in integrated PAUD Satya Wacana Children Center " The study employs qualitative research methods with descriptive exposure. Research subjects are students and teachers of integrated PAUD Satya Wacana Children Center salatiga. Data collection results with observation techniques, interviews, documentation and data analysis. Data analysis techniques divide into three phases that are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of the interviews and observations already collected include the documentation, pictures, photographs, field notes, personal notes, and other documents after studied and researched than reduced to an abstraction. As the results of research, researchers concluded that the Bina Vokalia PAUD activities could help students develop singing skills early on, not only good vocal techniques but training children to be bolder and more confident in the activities organized by the foundation. The advice is that music teachers should not be absent too often, requiring an additional event of school in order to make children more active and creative. It is necessary to increase the practice time and musical facilities so the children do not become bored prematurely.

Abstract

Based on data analysis can be concluded that the implementation of learning the art of music in class VII A MTs Negeri 1 Semarang using the approach of constructivism run organized, this is evidenced by learning already using model arrests have three stages are (a) presentation of advance organizer, educator provides an overview of the terms of supporting about music (b) the presentation of the material or the learning task, create discussion among students and evaluated by educators and (c) strengthen the cognitive organization, frequently asked questions and a deepening of the material. Learning implemented within 2x45 minutes with the distribution phase advance organizer presentation lasted 15 minutes, the stage presentation of the material or the learning task carried out within 60 minutes, and the stage of cognitive organization strengthen lasted 15 minutes. Suggestions can author to convey, among others: (1) educators should be able to take advantage of instructional media such as musical instruments and projectors which is owned schools maximally.

Abstract

Purwacaraka Purwokerto Music School is able to give birth to talented classical piano students so they can win various championships. From the observations, this is influenced by the use of the faber method in learning. This study aims to describe learning methods faber at Purwacaraka Purwokerto Music School. The research approach applied in this study is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, interview and document study. The results of this study indicate that the use of the faber method in classical piano learning in Purwacaraka Purwokerto Music School is only used at the beginner level (Grade Preparatory) and is an excellent method for learning at the beginner level because it uses books specifically designed for beginners with many bring up colorful images that make students imagine, so students understand learning material in their own way. The advantages of the faber method are that students get a strong foundation in reading beam notation, dynamics games and articulation in a score of songs played and this method is a very good method used as a basis for learning piano because it has material and theory that is emphasized to provide basic reference piano playing with piano playing techniques.

Abstract

Nasyid extracurricular students at SMAIT Al-Multazam are students with a lack of musical experience but produce musical abilities to create nasyid works. The aim of this research is to find out and describe how the creative process of nasyid extracurricular students in creating nasyid works. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, and study of documents. The results of this study the creative process carried out by nasyid extracurricular students includes 4 stages, namely determining ideas, the process of creating nasyid lyrics, determining the chords in nasyid song lyrics, the method of composing chords on nasyid songs and the creation of a nasyid work. The conclusion is that the Nasyid extracurricular students are still in the learning stage but choose to pursue it to create a nasyid work so that it has a creative process to create nasyid works that can produce a work.

Abstract

Javanese Karawitan is a type of traditional music that is rarely used as extracurricular subjects in formal educational institutions. However, Sekolah Dasar (SD) Negeri 1 Waluyorejo, Puring District, Kebumen Regency, teaches Javanese music to extracurricular activities in the arts. The research method used was descriptive qualitative method. The data were obtained through observation techniques, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study were karawitan Jawa extracurricular at SD Negeri 1 Waluyorejo held three times a week. Javanese musical extracurricular learning is divided into two activities, namely routine and incidental learning. Provision of material from meetings 1 to 4, namely, (1) Gending Lancaran Gugur Gunung materials; (2) gending Lancaran Kebo Giro and Kebumen Binuko materials; (3) incorporation and application of training methods for nayaga and penggerong; (4) stabilization of nayaga and penggerong in playing the music and vocal Lancaran Kebo Giro and Kebumen Binuko materials which have been studied. Supporting factors are, (1) learning components that are mutually sustainable; (2) the moral support of the principal; and (3) the teachers and teams competence who are competent in their fields. The inhibiting factors are, (1) student interest still low in traditional arts; (2) teacher activities that conflict with practice scedule.

Abstract

Angklung learning strategies in SMP Negeri 13 Cirebon are very unique, teachers use not in accordance with their learning. The problem discussed in this paper is how the strategies are used by the trainer and what are the supporting and inhibiting factors. This research uses qualitative. The target of this research is angklung extracurricular learning strategy in SMP Negeri 13 Kota Cirebon. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, documentation, and triangulation techniques. The results showed that: (1) The trainer used a direct learning strategy; (2) supporting factors are facilities provided; (3) inhibiting factors, namely extracurricular schedules that collide with other extracurricular schedules. The strategy used is a direct learning strategy. students are more focused on the teacher with several methods, namely lectures, demonstrations, and drills. The media used are angklung instruments, keyboards, laptops, amps, and blackboards.

Abstract

Analysis of music form aims to peel and unravel the song thoroughly so that the contained elements in it can be found. The problem statement in this research is analysis of form song from Kidung Penghiburan. This research uses descriptive qualitative method and using several data collection techniques, including observation and documentation studies. Data will be validated by data triangulation. Data analysis techniques in this research uses data reduction, data presentation, conclusion withdrawal and verification. The result of this research showed that the songs from Kidung Penghiburan titled Pintu Gebang Terbukalah, Jalan Hidup Tak Selalu, Makin Dekat Tuhan, and Tuhan Allah Beserta Engkau are the two-part songs with different phrases arrangement and motif tabulation. Pintu Gebang Terbukalah’s form is A (a a’), B (b y), Jalan Hidup Tak Selalu’s form is A (a a’), A’ (a x), B (b y), Makin Dekat Tuhan’s form is A (a a’), B (b a’), and Tuhan Allah Beserta Engkau’s form is A (a a’), B (b b’).

Abstract

Details of developing jazz guitar reharmonization learning book using Malay Asli song will not discuss here, however, this article divulges pragmatism approach that can be transcending in explaining logic between learning jazz guitar reharmonization techniques using Malay Asli Song. Although music is a universal language, traditional music and western music educators do not come to an agreement diffusing learning western music elements such in traditional music or vice versa. As a result, reharmonization technique only become known on western music repertoires. While traditional music practitioners presenting the same old repertoires, with deep-rooted dogmatic excuses to maintain what they called traditional authentic values. To conduct this study, relevant data on pragmatism was done through document analysis. The result show pragmatism approach can help music educators to reconceptualize teaching and learning traditional music using jazz reharmonization technique to recreate and innovate a new sound and contextual of learning jazz harmony, not just using on jazz standards repertoires, in making music theory beneficial to both traditional and modern music educators and students.

Abstract

Eucharistic celebrations that use Javanese language are very rarely carried out in the Catholic church, thereby causing a lack of public knowledge, especially people about Javanese Eucharist. This research was conducted aiming to provide information and knowledge to the public about the form and presentation of the Javanese song for the choir used to accompany the celebration of the Javanese eucharist held at the church St. Maria Fatima Banyumanik Semarang. This descriptive - qualitative research took place at St. Maria Fatima Banyumanik Semarang on May 26 and June 30, 2019 with a priest, choir officer and church members as research subjects. Data collection techniques in this study include observation, interviews and document studies. The data analysis technique used is interactive analysis. The results of the study revealed that the form of Javanese liturgical song presentation was used to accompany the celebration of the Javanese eucharist at the Church of St. Maria Fatima Banyumanik Semarang is the same as the form of presentation of the liturgical celebration of the Eucharist in general, in the form of a choir group, and the function of the use of Javanese liturgical songs in the celebration of the eucharist is as a means of communication and as a continuous contribution and cultural stability. Hopefully in the future the church will more intensively inform the celebration of the Javanese eucharist to the people, and hopefully the choir in charge can prepare song texts for the people, so as to increase the readiness and enthusiasm of the people in participating in the celebration of the Javanese eucharist at St. Maria Fatima Banyumanik Semarang.

Abstract

This article is to describe a research result of violin lesson conduct in Music Art Study Program, Faculty of Language and Arts, UKSW, Salatiga. The research problems are 1) obstructions in learning violin instrument, and 2) finding the right method for the violin learners. It is a Research and Development study aiming to find the effectiveness of the violin learning method named “Perstude Lahap”. The name stands for Persiapan (preparation or warming up), Etude (practicing), Lagu (song or repertoar), and Menghapal (memorizing). The research shows that it is able to make lesson successful under the requirements that the learners are fast learners or have good intelligence, strongly motivated, persistent, and incorporating right playing method. Perstude Lahap method is one of the effective alternatives for learners as it provides well-structured practice and stimulates learners to optimally develop both their cognitive and motoric skill.
