Abstract

AbstractOryctes rhinoceros L. has symbioses with micro organisms in their hind guts which further break down plant material consumed by beetle. The aim of this research is to determine the identification of the existence of the bacterial species in the hind gut larvae of the symbiotic bacteria using biochemical test and analysis based on 16S rRNA. The result of this research indicate that there were two different bacterials: Bacillus siamensis and Bacillus stratosphericus found. The bacteria was used for starting the composting and more specifically, the Bacillus siamensis can speed up composting with the end result at C/N 13.16.Keywords: Larvae O. rhinoceros L, Bacterial Symbionts, 16S rDNA, Composting

Abstract

AbstractMetarhizium anisopliae is an important entomopathogenic fungus that mainly used for biological control. Isolates of M. anisopliae extracted from soil from 15 oil palm plantations located in several districts on the Province of North Sumatra, Indonesia have been investigated to identify their morphological diversity. The morphology of assessed fungi was constructed in the the form of conidia, conidia size, color and shape colony and growth diameter of the 15 isolates. All of conidia forms showed cylindrical shape and string together. The length/width (μm) ratio of conidia size was minimum 2,16 and maximum 3,54. The highest growth rate isolates were found in M3 (Bandar Selamat) and M12 (Mancang) treatment and the lowest rate was M11 (Teluk Parit Kaca) treatment. The color of colonies were varied among the isolates. They were greenish yellow, dark green, yellowish and showing zonation/no zonation. Keywords : Metarhizium anisopliae, biological character, morphological diversity

Abstract

AbstractSoybean is useful for tofu, tempe, soy sauce and soy milk. The effective use of fertilizer and organic application can increase soybean productivity. The objective of this research was to study the growth and yield of various soybean varieties on application of phospate fertilizer and organic matter. This research was conducted in North Binjai and Research and Technology Laboratory Agriculture Faculty Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan on May-September 2016. The method used Randomized Block Design with 3 factors. The first factor is soybean varieties consisting of: (Argomulyo, Dering, Dena, Kaba, Gema, Grobogan and Wilis), fertilization of phosphate (control and 150 kg/ha) and organic material application (control, Blotong 10 ton/ha and POEFBC/Palm Oil Empty Fruit Bunches Compost 10 ton / Ha). The results of this research showed that the seven varieties of soybean had characteristic differences on shoot dry weight, age of flowering, age of harvest, phospate uptake and dry weight of 100 seed. The longest flowering and harvesting age is obtained in Wilis, while the shortest age is Grobogan. The highest uptake of P in Argomulyo with treatment without organic matter and phospate fertilizer. Kaba variety with blotong treatment has the highest dry seed weight. Keywords : Organic Matter, Phosphate Fertilizer, Soybean Varieties

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of community service is for training and counseling to duck farmers to plan and market their business to be better and can compete in the business world. In addition, the importance of financial management and entrepreneurship helps the farmers to plan their finances and marketing so that people can know the potential they have and see opportunities to develop the livestock business. The results of this dedication show that training and counseling of financial and entrepreneurial management helps farmers in financial planning such as feed and maintenance costs incurred, calculate the reasonable selling price of eggs, and plan future activities in developing the livestock business. Due to background education of farmers not from financial, so deep enough approach is required in explaining financial management and entrepreneurship as well as simple submission so that farmers can more easily understand the application of financial management concepts and entrepreneurship in the business world. Keywords: Financial Management, Entrepreneurship, Duck Farmers, Desa Kolam

Abstract

AbstractThe Onion (Allium ascalonicum L.) which is cultivated with the ameliorant can expand its conventional functions as a seasoning to different purposes such as medicines and growth regulator. The purpose of this study is to determine the type and dose of ameliorant which are suitable in improving the productivity of a few varieties of onion (Allium ascalonicum L.). This research was conducted in Labuhan Deli District in the province of Sumatera Utara, Socfindo Laboratory and Final Disposal from February – June 2017. The experiment was carried out using a Randomized Block Design with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor is varieties consisting of 3 varieties (Bima Brebes, Super Philip, and Medan). the second factor are Ameliorant consisting of 5 dose levels (Control (without ameliorant), Biochar 0,4 kg/m2, biochar 0,8 kg/m2, Urban waste compost 1 kg and Urban waste compost 2 kg/m2). Parameters observed ie plant height (cm), Number of tillers per hill (tillers), and fresh weight production per m2. The results showed that varieties factor gave significantly of difference to the urban waste compost aplication 1 kg can increase the production of super Philip varieties onion with total fresh weight production 1203,57 g.Keywords: Onion, Varieties, Ameliorant
