Abstract

Mastery of English vocabulary is one of the academic goals teachers expected students achieve.  It becomes a problem if the goal is not attained.  From various previous research results, it was found out that there were predictors of this failure, and one of which was students reading habit.  This quantitative, descriptive-correlative research tried to analyze and answer the research questions whether students’ English vocabulary has a correlation with their reading habit.  The instrument was distributed to 70 sixth grade students who were the respondents of this study.  The data were analyzed using the Mean Score and Pearson Correlation.  The results obtained showed that the frequency of reading was only occasionally, with sufficient time, and moderate attitude towars reading.  In addition, it was found that the level of English vocabulary achievement was only moderate level.  Finally, this study also proved that students reading frequency, time spent, and attitude towards reading have significant relationships with the level of students’ English vocabulary achievement.  All of these relationships showed a positive direction.  Therefore, it is suggested that English teachers should encourage their students to do lot of reading activities, and to give them reading tasks that should be done in the school library.

Abstract

Slum area is one of the problems which often discovered in big cities, particularly it appears and develops in strategic locations in the center of the city. With such phenomenon as slum, job, kinship, ethnic, religion and other social problems, then it can be said that the life condition of the people is heterogeneous. One of villages in Makassar city which experience social life problems related to slum area is Mariso village in Mariso Sub-district in Makassar City. The objectives of the research are Describe the slum in Mariso Village of Mariso Sub-District in Makassar City. The research employed descriptive approach systematically, factually, and accurately. The data were collected through interview and documentation study technique. The results of the research reveal that is slum in the area based on the variables which are measured in the location of the research. The description of slum in Mariso Village in RW 3 and RW 7 with the slum level is in medium category. It is because each of RW analyzed had the same slum variables.

Abstract

Online learning during The Covid-19 Pandemic requires lectures creativity to use learning media that are appropriate to the situation and condition. The purpose of this study is to optimize online learning by using social media tiktok and to describe the effect of using tiktok learning media on students' learning skill. The population in this study was all 4th student of the PGMI UNHASY at Jombang. Data collection is done by providing a questionnaire at google form. The data analysis technique used descriptive statistics and inferential statistic analysis. The result showed that the average use of social media tiktok was 27,97 and the percentage 40% in a good enough category. And the result of teaching skills with an average 46,27 And percentage 37% in the low category. The results of inferential statistic analysis obtained Rcount 0,58>Rtable 0,58 at a significance level of 0,05%, thus H0 is rejected and H1 accepted. The conclusion in this study is that there is a significant effect between the use of social media tiktok with the teaching skill of students of PGMI UNHAS study Program at Jombang.

Abstract

Learning media has an important role in attracting students' interest and as an intermediary for learning activities from teachers to students. The difficulties that exist in mathematics subject require the creativity of mathematics subject teachers to develop their learning, both in terms of methods and media used. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of video learning media for fractional mathematics online in elementary schools. There is an experimental class and a control class from class V from elementary school. The results showed that the use of video learning media for fractional mathematics was effective. The errors that still appear after the research is done are that there are still some students who have not equated the denominator when working on the problem.

Abstract

This research is aquantitative research that is descriptive and correlational. Parental attention is a form of support given by parents to increase student motivation in learning. This research is to find out the relationship between parental attention and students' learning motivation. Data collection using random sampling method. This research was conducted at SMP N 9 Dumoga with 75 respondents in class VII and VII SMP students who were active in the 2020/2021 academic year. To determine the level of people's attention and students' motivation to learn, the mean score was used. To find out whether there is a significant relationship between parental attention and student motivation, Pearson correlation is used. From the results of research conducted at SMP 9 N Dumoga that parental attention is high with a mean = 3.04, and has student motivation in learning science, where the average value = 4.50. The results conducted at SMP N 9 Dumoga showed that there was a significant relationship between parental attention and student motivation. Because the results of this study indicate that p value = 0.034 > = 05. The correlation value = 0.254 means that there is a significant relationship between parental attention and student motivation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the use of the national anthem as a medium for character education in elementary schools. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The data analysis technique used was to analyze the data obtained through documentation, observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The results of the study indicate that through the national song as a medium for character education in schools, it can make the character of students better. This is shown from the results of interviews with teachers and school principals who said that the national song can be used as a medium for character education. This statement was strengthened by the results of the distribution of questionnaires to students which showed that 93% stated that the national anthem could be used as character education. The conclusion of this study is that the national anthem is effective as a medium for character education in elementary schools.

Abstract

The background of this research is that during the COVID-19 pandemic, learning is carried out online which involves no direct meetings between teachers and students, or students toward other students which makes the communication needs is very prioritized in online learning to build successful online learning.  The purpose of this study is to determine the success of the interpersonal communication done by teachers to students in online learning which can be seen from the results of the student scores.  This type of this research uses descriptive qualitative research by collecting data on student questionnaires, student interviews, class teacher interviews, principal interviews, and documentation studies of student scores. The results of the analysis show interpersonal communication in online learning using WhatsApp communication media. Student responses to online learning goes well and the learning objectives are achieved with the results obtained by students in online learning. The results obtained in online learning on average are only 2-6 students who are declared failed passing the minimum completeness criteria of 18 grade 5 students. The results are good with the support of successful communication and good student responses to online learning.  Support from schools and tutoring from parents at home.

Abstract

The problem in this study is the lack of students' ability to develop answers or not being able to think creatively, tend to have poor learning achievements. However, it is possible for students who have high creativity to have good learning achievements, while students who have low creativity have high and low learning achievements. This study is a quantitative study with a correlation design that aims to determine the relationship between the implementation of creativity and the learning achievement of class V Cluster XVI students, Liliriaja District, Soppeng Regency. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between learning creativity and student achievement in class V Cluster XVI, Liliriaja District, Soppeng Regency with a tcount value (5.7855) greater (>) ttable value (1.66792) which means H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Based on the analysis of the data above, it can be concluded that learning creativity will have an impact on students' learning habits in learning so that it will affect their learning achievement in the classroom. So the better the learning creativity, the better student achievement will be. From these conclusions, the impact of this research is that good learning creativity will increase student achievement.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe and explain how the speaking ability of grade 3 elementary school students in Sidoluhur 01 in using Indonesian properly and correctly. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. This study uses instruments in the form of interviews, observations, and documentation. The subjects of this study were class teachers and students of grade 3 elementary school students in Sidoluhur 01. The results of the analysis of this study were the level of speaking ability of grade 3 students at elementary school of Sidoluhur 01, included in the medium category, namely 11 students from 13 students were able to have sufficient speaking skills, good for the size in grade 3 elementary school who is undergoing development both psychologically and physically. If it is improved again with regular and directed Indonesian learning, it is very likely that students' speaking skills will increase and fall into the good or even very good category.

Abstract

This type of research is survey research with quasi-experimental technique. The research population is all V SD Inpres Paccinonga, Gowa Regency in the 2015/2016 academic year. The population is 60 people who are divided into two classes, namely class IV A and class IV B with the sampling technique is total sampling. The results of this study indicate that the learning outcomes of fifth grade students of SD Inpres Paccinongan, Gowa Regency using an approach are 66.33 and conventional techniques are 57.10 in the range of values 10-100. In addition, the data on the results of the effectiveness analysis in the t test, shows the empirical value (tt): 7.16 while the theoretical value (ta): 1.67 at the 95% significance level, so it is stated that the empirical t value is greater than the theoretical t value. (table) (7.16>1.67) which means that the scientific approach is effective in improving science learning outcomes for fifth grade students of SD Inpres Paccinongan, Gowa Regency.
