Abstract

Learning technique at school should concentrate on developing studentscreativity. Creative thinking ability will be the determinant of individualsuccess. But in fact, students are familiar with routine and simple learning. The SAVI approach is an approach that combines physical movement withintellectual activity. Learning style is the capital of a student to absorbinformation. The method used in this research is quantitative method, whichis the purpose is to know the influence of SAVI approach and learning styleto students' creative thinking ability in mathematics when compared withdirect learning. The instruments used are tests of creative thinking abilitiesand learning styles of students. The result of data analysis using statistical testthat is (1) there is influence of SAVI approach and learning style to studentcreative thinking ability. (2) there is influence of SAVI approach to SAVIcreative thinking ability. (3) there is influence of student learning style tostudent creative thinking ability. (4) there is an interaction between SAVIapproach and learning style to students' creative thinking ability.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the students‘ reason in solving theproblem of limit function and comparation between high-ability subject(HS) and medium-ability subject (MS). The instrument in this research wasthe researcher himself as the main instrument guided by the task limitfunction and valid interview guidelines. Data collection was done by taskbasedinterviews. The subjects of the study were V-semester studentsconsisting of 2 students (1 subject is having high ability and 1 subject ishaving medium ability). The research process followed the steps of: (a)formulating the mathematical reasoning indicator in solving the problem oflimit function based on theory, (b) formulating the supporting instrument(task limit function and interviewing guide), (c) taking the research subject,(d) taking the data to tell the students‘ reasoning in solving the limit functiontests (f) conducting analysis of mathematical reasoning data of the studentsin solving the problem of function limit, (g) conducting discussion ofanalysis result, (h) concluding the research results. The result of the researchshowed that 1) the reasoning equation of the high-ability subject (HS) andthe medium ability subject (MS) in solving the function limit problem wasto do inductive reasoning first then perform deductive reasoning, 2)difference of reasoning subject with high ability (HS) medium ability (MS)in solving the problem of function limit was only in terms of mathematicalreasoning process.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to describe the implementation of scientificapproach used guided inquiry, student’s learning activities, student’s critical thinking skills in teaching and learning mathematic. This type of research is a descriptive research, with quantitative and qualitative approaches. A method in collecting the data used two instruments including observation, and test. The data were obtained from 32 students in class VIII-2 SMP Negeri 3 Malang. The results showed that the implementation scientific approach used guided inquiry in teaching and learning mathematic can be implemented in accordance with the learning steps which have been prepared with an average of 82,39 teacher activity and 78,13 the learners activities. The activity of learners during the learning process is good category, with details of the activity of observing, reasoning, trying and communicate indicate same category, which is good, whereas asking activity indicate good enough category. The whole ability of students critical thinking skills are very good, with with the acquisition of which is high on the aspects identifying assumptions given, and indicate good category with revealing indicator data/definition/theorem to solve problems and evaluation aspects to solve problems.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of response, the level of motivation, student learning outcomes and learning process using Problem Based Learningon learning mathematics. This research is descriptive research where there isno manipulation only to describe and to analyze the data obtained. Thisresearch uses quantitative research methods with the subjects of the studywhich amounted to 33 people. Data collection techniques used includequestionnaires, observations, interviews and tests. Data analysis used in thisresearch is qualitative analysis technique and quantitative analysis. The resultof the research indicates that the students response level to Problem BasedLearning is high with the percentage of achievement of 72.02% and thestudents' motivation level with the percentage of achievement of 70.05%.Student learning outcomes obtained using Problem Based Learning are quitesatisfactory. With the percentage of achievement level reached 75.75%. Withthe Minimum Exhaustiveness Criteria (KKM) score at the school is 75, so thatall students meet the given KKM.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact shows the mathematicalcommunication ability of the students not yet in accordance with theexpected. One such problem is learning that does not provide flexibility tostudents to exploit the potential of the brain optimally, where in general isgenerally more emphasis on the left brain function. Mathematicalcommunication skills need to be supported by right brain function.Characteristics of learning that offers learning concepts that align the waythe brain works naturally designed is by learning Brain-Based Learning(BBL). The research method used is quasi experiment. Quantitative data isobtained from pretest and posttes data. Research found that There areachievements and improvements in students' mathematical communicationskills whose learning uses the Brain-Based Learning approach comparedwith students who received conventional learning in terms of students' earlymath skills, and self-confidence and there is an association between theability of mathematical communication and self-confidence.

Abstract

Purpose of this study is to describe the ability of student Class X-APK 2 SMK PGRI Dampit to solving the problem story based from problem solving step by polya. this research used descriptive-qualitative research. The result from this study explain that the student ability to solve the problem by polya step are different in each category. Students at high, medium and low category have been able to understand the meaning from every problem in the ability to make a plan, the student from high category have been able to make a plan, students from medium were not fully able to make a plan, beside the students from low category can’t make a single plan. The students ability to implement the plan can be seen from how students make a plan. Meanwhile the ability to make a review only student from higt category that can carry it out.

Abstract

The research has a goal to describe writing mathematical student capabilitybased on mathematics expression aspect and writing text aspect on thesystem equation linear two variable lesson. The research is using qualitativeapproach which creature of descriptive. The collecting technique of datawhich done is about the result of answering test. The result’s analysis ofthe research student capability on writing mathematical expression andwriting text which be on the system equation linear two variable matter isabout the student can writing mathematics model which suitable with thematter has given, but did not write the formula completely. The result’sanalysis of test on the writing text aspect, student can write the symbolexactly but there is notconsistently and less coherent on writing steps. Ashortage of mathematics expression and writing text because of student lesson understanding what it asked on the matter. The abilities’ result of studentsmathematics written based on expression mathematics on the highcathegories and get average about 67,54%, while getting result of writingtext on the middle cathegories as about 60,52%.
