Jurnal Pembelajaran Sains (Print ISSN: 2355-7044; Online ISSN: 2527-9157) provides a place for teachers, academics, lecturers, and students to share and discuss the results of their research in the field of science education. JPS publishes academic articles that focus on teaching and learning science from a range of basic education to higher education. This journal serves as a bridge between researchers and practitioners (teachers at every level of education) in sharing and providing information, ideas and opinions about the reality of education experienced by each. Science education which is included in the focus of JPS is not only limited to science education at the junior high school level. JPS also publishes academic articles related to the results of research in the fields of chemical education, physical education, and biological education for the level of basic education to higher education. JPS also does not close itself to publish academic articles related to the integration of science education with other disciplines, such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), geography, social education, and art. However, academic articles relating to research in the field of pure science and education in general (not related to science / Science education) will not be considered for publication by JPS. Academic articles in the field of science education published by JPS can be in the form of empirical research, such as the development / application of learning models and strategies, the development and innovation of teaching materials and learning media, and the development of learning evaluation instruments. Both the academic articles of experimental research and the results of classroom action research (CAR) are highly accepted for publication in JPS. All academic articles published by JPS must follow the applicable research rules and any data / research results can be justified by the author.

Abstract

This research aims to overcome the problems which faced by the teachers and students is how teacher develop quality of learning tools that guide students in solving problems for learning science. The quality of learning with Problem Based Learning model is determined based on validation, practicality, and effectiveness. Validity is obtained based on the result of validity by the experts, practically is obtained based on the implementation of student learning and effectiveness is obtained based on the students’ posttest score. The development model used is the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implement, Evaluation). The results of this research showed that the learning tools by PBL model obtained of validation with the acquisition of an average score of 3.7 with very valid category, the implementation of learning reached 8.4 % with very practical category, students responses reached 97.6% with positive responses and students learning outcomes were known from mastery learning based on KKM reached 84.3 with very effective category. Based on these results it could be concluded that the Development of learning tools with Problem Based Learning model for class VIII on Environmental Pollution was stated qualified to be used.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality of scientific literacy in disaster education e-books in science learning in junior high schools. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The research instrument used in this study was an observation. Based on the four categories of scientific literacy quality, the results of the analysis of the three disaster education e-books obtained from the percentage of the three e-books show that science as the body in minimizing disaster risk is 76.2%, science as a way to investigate in emergency response planning skills is 33.3%, science as a way of thinking in simulation activities was 66.7%, and the interaction between science, technology and the community in the socialization of alertness was 16.7%. Overall from the three e-books analyzed, that science as the body in minimizing disaster risk received the highest percentage and the interaction of science, technology with the community in the socialization of preparedness received a very low percentage. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention so that scientific literacy is more balanced in the disaster education e-books used in science learning in order to provide a complete picture of science for students.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the difficulty of students in understanding the material of the Human Skeleton System and the teacher has untapped the learning media to the maximum so that learning seems boring and students prefer learning while playing. It needs to development of innovative learning media. This research aimed to produce learning media in the form of Domino Cards on the material of the Human Motion System for students of class VIII MTs / SMP that are appropriate based on validity, practicality and effectiveness. This research is a type of development research using the ADDIE development model which consists of five stages of development namely Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. Media trial subjects are 20 students of MTs. Ar-Rohman Laban. The instruments used include the Domino Card media validation sheet, the Domino Card media usage sheet, and the posttest question sheet. The average score obtained from the validator is 3.88 with category "Very Valid". The observation of the implementation of learning shows the percentage of 75% implementation with the category "Practical”. Based on posttest data shows an overall average value of 76 with the category of "complete" and an average of 65% completeness with the category "Effective".

Abstract

This study aims to design, test the feasibility and measure the response of students of physics teaching aids based on Arduino Nano sensors on Regularly Changing Straight Motion (GLBB) material. This study uses the method of research and development (Research and Development). The subjects of this study consisted of four validators and 16 students. Data analysis was carried out by descriptive analysis. The results of the feasibility test of the props product obtained a mean score of 3.54 with very good criteria. The results of the students' responses to the teaching aids obtained a mean score of 2.91 with agreed criteria.

Abstract

Evaluation of science learning achievement on conventional manner show that students were less active in the learning process, low cognitive performance, interest in learning science were low, and  difficulty in learning science topic. As a result student’s and learning achievement. The difficulty was caused by low teacher ability to manage it, so that the learning was less effective and interesting. Therefore, learning model is needed to support student mastery. One of them was cooperative learning model of student teams achievement divisions. This research aimed to describe the implementation of the syntax and student learning achievement after learning using cooperative learning model of student teams achievement divisions on Vibration and Wave. This study was a descriptive research with quantitative approach. It used One-Shot Case Study. The Subjects of this study were students of class VIII of State Junior High School 3 Jombang consisting of 30 students. The implementation of the syntax was observed by implementation of the syntax sheet. Learning achievement were determined based on mastery of learning achievement and mastery of learning indicator on minimal mastery criteria. The results of the research showed that: (1) Implementation of the syntax at the first and second meeting reached the average 89,5% with very good criteria , (2) Student learning outcome reached the average 77% while the learning indicator value got the average 86,5 with mastery category.

Abstract

The Industrial Revolution 4.0 is a comprehensive transformation of all aspects of production in industry through the combination of digital and internet technology with conventional industries. The education sector is an important field that must adapt to the demands of the times so as not to be left behind. In the world of education, especially in subjects such as Basic Biology, there are many objects that are difficult to visualize in real terms, one of which is the topic of the Structure and Function of Plant Networks. The problem can be visualized using Augmented Reality (AR) technology. The purpose of developing AR-based teaching materials is to combine biology material by applying AR technology so that learning is more interesting, meaningful, and interactive, and students can observe objects in biological studies. The product specifications developed were in the form of Basic Biology I teaching materials consisting of the BIOAR application and augmented reality-based supplement books on the topic of Plant Tissue Structure and Function. This method of developing teaching materials used R & D (Research and Development) which consisted of (1) Research and Information collection, (2) Planning, (3) Development of teaching materials based on augmented reality, (4) Validation of teaching materials by experts. The validation results showed that this augmented reality-based teaching material was declared very valid with a value of 4.52.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the emergence of indicators critical thingking skills in the 7th grade junior high school science learning textbook on the theme of polluted water. The indicators of critical thingking skills that analyzed are focusing on question, analyzing arguments, asking and answering questions, considering whether the source is reliable or not, observing and considering an observation, making deductions and considering, the results of deductions, making inductions and considering the results of induction, making and considering decisions value, define terms and consider definitions, identify assumptions, define an action and interact with others. This research was a descriptive study by using document analysis method to describe the emergence of indicators critical thingking skills in each sub-material component in the science learning textbook. The object of this research was the science leaning textbook published by Kemendikbud, Erlangga and Quadra. The data collection technique used documentation. The instrument used a checklist sheet. Analysis of research data used descriptive statistics by calculating the number of components of the analysis in accordance with the indicators of critical thingking skills. The results of the analysis of the emergence of indicators critical thingking indicators in the three science learning textbooks that were analyzed, the emergence of indicators critical thingking skills obtained the highest percentage in the kemendikbud book of 83,33% very good. Meanwhile, Erlangga’s book was 66,67% good and Quadra 56,68% good enough.

Abstract

Material elements, compounds and mixtures are abstract material so that students have difficulty understanding the material. This difficulty is also caused by less attractive learning media. To improve students' critical thinking skills, teaching materials with the help of the media are needed. Media suitable for elements, compounds and mixtures is augmented reality (AR) because it can visualize abstract material. Inquiry based learning is a learning model that is very appropriate for teaching materials using media such as augmented reality (AR). The application of learning using inquiry based learning shows positive results on students' critical thinking skills, especially in science learning. This study aims to produce teaching materials with an inquiry based learning model enriched with augmented reality on elemental material, compounds, and mixtures to develop students' critical thinking skills. Validation test of teaching materials by media expert validators and material experts. Then donevalidation on students. Research and development use the Lee & Owens development model. Research and development are limited to the first three stages, namely assessment / analysis, design and development. The data generated from the validation test and the legibility test state that the teaching materials developed are feasible to be produced.

Abstract

In learning, teachers are expected to be able to bring students to be active in cooperative learning to solve problems and to discover knowledge. One solution to overcome these problems is to use a learning model Team Games Tournament (TGT). This study aims to determine the implementation of learning using the TGT learning model, student learning outcomes after the application of the TGT learning model, and student learning responses towards learning using the TGT learning model. This study was a pre-experimental design using a One-Shot Case Study research design. The sampling technique was Non-Probability Sampling with the Purposive Sampling technique. The data collection technique used two methods, namely the test method (cognitive test) and the non-test method (observation and questionnaire). The instruments used were learning implementation observation sheets, knowledge test sheets, and student response questionnaire sheets. The observation result of learning implementation based on teacher activity obtained an average score of 92.05% and student activity of 85.38% so that learning was carried out well. Student learning outcomes (post-test) had an average of 85% with complete criteria. While the response of students to this learning which was 95.82% received a positive response by students.

Abstract

Teaching material is a learning media that can be employed for independent learning. However, the learning media based on the real problem, assembling STEM aspect, and using independent learning strategy have not much been developed. Based on the observation results in junior high school, students experience the distraction to comprehend the concept of light and optics. The understanding of the concept and language is the principle of creative thinking. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to develop and test the teaching material eligibility based on STEM-PjBL toward light and optics analysis so that it is moderate to improve the students’ creative thinking. This study is a research development using the 4-D model by Thiagarajan that includes several stages; define, design, develop, and disseminate. This study solely reached the development stage. The feasibility test was carried out through validation media, material validation, and practical test. The finding of the research indicated that the teaching material developed is valid and eligible to use.
