Abstract

BackgroundPrimary dysmenorrhea is lower abdominal pain happening during menstruation which is not associated with other diseases or pathology, mostly experienced by adolescents around the world, including in Indonesia. Calcium intake is considered to affect decreasing the intensity of primary dysmenorrhea. Lack of calcium can cause muscle spasms and contractions. However, the average daily intake of calcium in adolescents in Indonesia is still below the recommended adequacy rate. This study aimed to assess the correlation between calcium intake and the intensity of primary dysmenorrhea in adolescents. MethodsThis study was done from March 2019 until January 2020; Analyzed the correlation between calcium intake and intensity of primary dysmenorrhea in 62 adolescents. Calcium intake was assessed using a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire, while the power of primary dysmenorrhea was assessed using a Visual Analogue Scale questionnaire. ResultsThere were 45.2% of adolescents experienced moderate and severe primary dysmenorrhea. In addition, 51.6% of adolescents experienced less calcium intake, with an average of 804.9 mg per day. The results showed a correlation between calcium intake and the intensity of primary dysmenorrhea (p = 0.000). ConclusionsCalcium intake is related to the intensity of primary dysmenorrhea. While calcium intake in adolescents is still lacking, it is recommended to consume adequate calcium intake.

Abstract

Background: The research of breast cancer prognostic factors has been conducting for a long time, but the results still controversial. The research on demography and clinicopathology factors that determine the survival of breast cancer (BC) patients, remains to be done. Methods: The observational analytic with cross-sectional design would be conduct to describe the demographic, clinicopathology, therapy and two years survival of breast cancer patients. The independent variables were age, stage of disease, and molecular subtype. The dependent variable was two years survival. The association between those variables analyzed by bivariate statistic and the significant variables would be analyzed by regression logistic. Results: Most age of breast cancer patients at diagnosis were ≥ 50 years (74.5%). The majority of sociodemographic profiles of BC patients were undergraduate education, private job and married. The main histological type was the invasive ductal carcinoma. More than 50% of the patients were high stage (60.8%) and hormonal receptors molecular subtype (60.7%). Neoadjuvant chemotherapy was given to 40 patients (78.5%), only 9 patients (17.7%) eligible for anti HER-2/neu therapy. There were 42 of patients (82.4%) have two years survival. There weren’t association between age (p=0.586), stage of disease (p=0.223), molecular subtype (p=0.223) with two years survival of breast cancer patients. Conclusions: The common risk factors of breast cancer is increasing age. Most of breast cancer patients presenting high stage and hormone receptors positive of BC. Although there weren’t significance association, the prevalence low stage BC patients had higher two years survival.

Abstract

BackgroundGlobally, it is estimated that 15% of the elderly had isolated systolic hypertension (ISH). ISH in the elderly may occur because of the aging process or other risk factors, such as obesity. Obesity is divided into total obesity which is measured by body mass index (BMI), and abdominal obesity which is measured by waist circumference (WC). The difference in these measurement parameters made this study aim to determine the relationship between BMI and WC with the incidence of ISH in the elderly. MethodsThe study was an analytical observational cross-sectional method and used a consecutive sampling technique with the samples aged ≥ 60 years old that had ISH. The research measured blood pressure, weight, height, and waist circumference. The data was analyzed by Rank Spearman test for the relationship between BMI with the incidence of ISH and Chi-Square test for the relationship between waist circumference with the incidence of ISH, with α values for both tests being 0,05. ResultsThe samples in this study were 110 elderlies with the most criteria being young elderlies (60%), female gender (67,3%), work as farm worker/farmer (41,8%), ISH grade I (66,4%), obesity (36,4%), and abdominal obesity (54,5%). There was no relationship between BMI with the incidence of ISH in the elderly (p= 0,827) but had a relationship between waist circumference with the incidence of ISH in the elderly (p= 0,001). ConclusionsBMI as an indicator of total obesity is not associated with the incidence of ISH in the elderly, but waist circumference as an indicator of abdominal obesity shows a relationship with the incidence of ISH in the elderly.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION In the midst of the chaos caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesia can continue its formal education system with an online learning system. However, the online learning system as an alternative to the classroom teaching system was dismissed, considering the risk of contracting COVID-19 to students and teachers. This research aims to determine the correlation between online learning readiness and high school students learning motivation. METHODS This study was a cross-sectional study with analytical observations on high school students who were studying online with the same subject and the same teacher. 62 male and female respondents aged 15-17 were collected by consecutive random sampling. The research tools were the Online Learning Readiness Assessment (OLRA), and Situational Motivational Scale (SIMS) questionnaires filled out by the respondents. SIMS was measured using the Self-Determined Index (SDI) to determine intrinsic and extrinsic motivation categories. The results were then tested using the Pearson correlation test. RESULTS 54.8% of students were “not ready” for online learning, 30.6% were “almost prepared”, 12.9% were “not suited” for online learning, and 1.6% were “ready” for online learning. There was no statistically significant difference between extrinsically motivated students (53.2%) and intrinsically motivated (46.8%). There was no correlation between online learning readiness and motivation of the students (r=-0.051, p=0.692). CONCLUSION More students are not ready for online learning. However, it is not correlated between online readiness and students’ learning motivation. KEYWORDS: Online learning, Learning Motivation, High School, COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract

Abstract: (1) Background: Stunting is one of the nutritional problems that occur in children under five years old. Based on maternal factors, the cause of stunting is a short birth spacing which results in a lack of energy recovery after giving birth to a previous child. This study aims to determine the relationship between birth spacing and stunting in children 24-59 months. (2) Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted with a total of 130 children who with their parents attended monthly visits to the Public Health Center of Grogol Petamburan District West Jakarta, Indonesia in September-November 2019. Data were collected using z scores and questionnaires. The Chi-square test was performed for data analysis. (3) Results: The prevalence of stunting in this study was lower than the national prevalence and the incidence of stunting was higher in birth spacing below 2 years. Short interval birth spacing increases the risk of stunting. However, the relationship between childbirth spacing and incidence of stunting in children 24-59 months was not statistically significant. (4) Conclusions: Short interval of birth spacing is not a direct cause of stunting as there are other related modifiable factors.

Abstract

BACKGROUND Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of pain in the heel area in adults. This condition is an inflammation that occurs due to microtrauma that occurs repeatedly. The pain that appears is usually most felt when you first get up in the morning, or after resting on both legs for a long time. Body mass index (BMI) is one of the factors that can contribute to the onset of plantar fasciitis. However, until now there are still pros and cons of opinions regarding the role of the BMI. This study aims to see the relationship between these two variables with plantar fasciitis. METHOD This study is an analytical study conducted with a cross-sectional approach to see the relationship between Body Mass Index and the incidence of plantar fasciitis. The data taken is secondary data from a private hospital in the Tangerang area with a time period between August and October 2021. The data were analyzed using Fisher's exact test with a significance limit of < 0.05. RESULT A total of 68 subject data from medical records at Siloam Hospital Lippo Village were taken in this study. Based on the study, it was found that 81.1% of people with excessive BMI and plantar fasciitis and the highest age distribution were in the range of 30-50 years and most were found in the female sex. Statistical analysis showed that there was a relationship between body mass index and plantar fasciitis pain aged 20-50 years (P=0.049) CONCLUSION Based on the results of the study, there was a relationship between body mass index and plantar fasciitis pain between the ages of 20-50 years. Abstract

BackgroundOccupational diseases that are often found in the porter (transport worker) are related with the changes in the structure of the spine. Work load, length and duration of work are factors that affect the spine curve. This study aims to see whether there is a relationship between those factors with the incidence of kyphosis among the workers. MethodsThe study used an observational study with a cross-sectional design that included 51 male workers aged 15-65 years in Sumbawa Regency. Sample selection is done in consecutive random sampling. Workers who had conditions such as a history of spinal surgery, spinal fractures, spinal tumors, spinal infections and osteoporosis were not included in the study. The curve of thoracic kyphosis is measured by flexible ruler. The calculation of the degree uses a standard and predetermined kyphosis index formula. Data on carrying loads, duration of work per day and length of work is obtained from the results of questions and answers with workers. The Fisher test was used as a statiscal analysis with a p value <0.05. ResultsIn this study, 60.8% of the porter had worked for more than 10 years and most had a carrying load of > 40 kg with the duration of work more than 8 hours per day. Measurements of the curvature of the vertebrae found that 35 people (68.6%) had normal curves followed by 16 people (31.3%) had kyphosis. Statistical test results with Fishertest found a significant relationship between carry load (p=0.003), duration of work (p=0.047) and working period (p=0.037) with kyphosis. ConclusionsThere is a significant relationship between the load of transport and the incidence of kyphosis in transport workers. The length of work per day and working period also have a significant influence on the efficacy of kyphosis.

Abstract

BACKGROUND Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the newly discovered Coronavirus, namely the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Daily cases of COVID-19 increased rapidly by up to 500% from May 15 to Jun 17, 2021, especially in Banten province; there were 53,472 cases, of which 10.4% were cases of children aged 6-18 years, causing an emergency to prevent the spread of COVID-19. One of the efforts to prevent COVID-19 in children can be through vaccination. Therefore, this study assessed students' attitudes towards the COVID-19 vaccine, evaluated data on COVID-19 vaccinations in students, and assessed the relationship between student attitudes towards the COVID-19 vaccine and COVID-19 vaccination in students. METHODS This study used a cross-sectional design with a population of students from Santa Patricia Junior High School with a sample size of 90 participants using cluster sampling technique and simple random sampling and then analyzed using the exact-fisher test. RESULTSThe results of the study prove that the most prominent characteristic aspects are female gender (64.4%), Age below or equal to 15 years (57.8%), having received the COVID-19 vaccine (86.7%), having a positive attitude towards the COVID-19 vaccine (85.5%), was influenced by other people around him (97.8%) and wanted to vaccinate against COVID-19 (86.7%). Students' attitudes towards the COVID-19 vaccine with COVID-19 vaccination had p=0.324. CONCLUSION The analysis did not show a significant relationship between students' attitudes towards the COVID-19 vaccine and the coverage of the COVID-19 vaccination (p=0.324; p>0.05). Abstract

BACKGROUND Inflammation is a protective response of the body to injury by releasing pro-inflammatory cytokines; one of them is interleukin-6 (IL-6). The peeled fruit of Tamarillo or terung belanda (Solanum betaceum Cav.) ethanol extract contains flavonoid compounds that have anti-inflammatory potential. This research was conducted to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effect of terung belanda (Solanum betaceum Cav.) peel fruit ethanol extract on carrageenan-induced Wistar strain rat by measuring the IL-6 level. METHOD Tamarillo (Solanum betaceum Cav.) fruit peel was extracted by maceration methods using 70% ethanol as solvent. The anti-inflammatory was evaluated using 30 rats which were divided into five research groups positive control (diclofenac sodium), negative control (NaCl), and Tamarillo (Solanum betaceum Cav.) fruit peel ethanol extract with a dose of 70mg/kg BW, 140mg/kg BW, and 280mg/kg BW. After the treatment, the rats were injected with carrageenan as an inflammatory inducer. Blood samples were taken at 24, 48 and 72 hours to measure the IL-6 level using the ELISA kit. Statistical analysis used one-way ANOVA with a significant difference as 0.05. RESULTSThe lowest IL-6 levels (13.853 pg/ml) were found in 24 hours at the group of 140 mg/kg BW while in 48 hours at the 280 mg/kg BW group and 72 hours at the 70 mg/kg BW group. In 24 hours, the 140 mg/kg BW group showed lower IL-6 levels than the positive control with a significant difference (p=0.001). CONCLUSION Tamarillo (Solanum betaceum Cav.) fruit peel ethanol extract is effective as an anti-inflammatory material, especially for 24 hours with a dose of 140 mg/kg BW.
