Abstract

This research was done to describe of form, meaning, and function of the expression the human’s trust in ceremony of corpse management in Nagari Selayo Kecamatan Kubung Kabupaten Solok. Data of this research were form, meaning and functions of the expression the human’s trust in Minangkabau especially in Kanagarian Selayo Kecamatan Kubung Kabupaten Solok. The data was collected trough interview and then, recorded the result of interview with some informant in Kenagarian Selayo Kecamatan Kubung Kabupaten Solok. In this research, it was found three results. The first, in Kanagarian Selayo Kecamatan Kubung Kabupaten Solok have 41 expressions of human’s trust in ceremony of corpse management. The second, in Kanagarian Selayo Kecamatan Kubung Kabupaten Solok have 41 expressions with implicit meaning that was got from orally and explicit meaning that was got from comprehended of the meaning in written. The third, the function of expressions human’s trust in ceremony of corpse management in Nagari Selayo Kecamatan Kubung Kabupaten Solok. The expression of human’s trust in ceremony of corpse management in Nagari Selayo Kecamatan Kubung Kabupaten Solok was divided into four parts. First, when the corpse at home has 23 expressions. Second, when the corpse bathed have 6 expressions. Third, when the corpse prayed have 1 expression. Fourth, when in the grave have 11 expressions.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the performance of communication effectiveness in terms of the use of the principle of cooperation in verbal communication by legislative officials and city level party leaders in West Sumatra. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The data of this study are utterances used by legislative officials and city level party leaders in West Sumatra. Data is collected in the following way, (1) downloading video recordings in the form of speeches or interviews from legislative officials and city-level party leaders in West Sumatra from Youtube social media, (2) transcribing video recordings of city-level legislative and party leaders in West Sumatra, (3) observing and analyzing all utterances which are included in language performance and communication politeness, (4) giving code to data which is included in language performance and communication politeness. After all the data is collected, the data is then analyzed by the following steps, (1) identifying data in the form of videos containing interviews and speeches, (2) data then entered into the performance format using the principle of cooperation, (3) data grouped and inserted into part of the principle of cooperation, (4) matching data and giving opinions on data on the principle of cooperation, (5) concluding data included in the principle of cooperation. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that Indonesian Language Performance in Terms of Use of the Principles of Cooperation in Oral Communication by Legislative Officials and Party Leaders The City level in West Sumatra is dominated by the conformity of the cooperative principle of 73%.Keywords: communication, politeness, legislative officials, Youtube

Abstract

This study aims to describe the performance of the use of communication politeness in terms of the use of the principle of language politeness by the Governor and Vice Governor of West Sumatra in Facebook. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive method. The data in this study are writings written by the Governor and Vice Governor of West Sumatra. Data were collected in the following manner, (1) to capture the screen of the writings of the Governor and Deputy Governor of West Sumatra (period 2016-2021) on Facebook account; (2) transcribes the entire Facebook post; and (3) to observe and determine data that includes the performance of Indonesian politeness. The examination of data validation in this study uses a detailed description technique. After the data collected, then analyzed with the following steps, (1) identifying and transcribing data, (2) classifying, (3) calculating, (4) interpreting data, and (5) summing up data. The conclusion of this study is the performance of Indonesian politeness in the writings in the Governor and Vice Governor of West Sumatra very well. This statement is evidenced by the corresponding speech language utterance of 519 sentences (98%) and non-corresponding nine sentences (2%). Conformity of the use of the principle of communication politeness that many found is the maxim of conclusions and incompatibility of the use of the principle of communication civility that many found is the maxim of praise and humility.Keywords: politeness, governor and deputy governor, facebook

Abstract

This research aims to describe (1) the social class in the Bukan Pasar Malam Pramoedya Ananta Toer novel, (2) conflict of social class in the Bukan Pasar Malam Pramoedya Ananta Toer novel, (3) the impact conflict of social class in the novel of Bukan Pasar Malam Pramoedya Ananta Toer. The theory used to achieve the goal: the sociology of literature, in particular the theory of social classes and conflict of social class. This research is descriptive qualitative research method with content analysis techniques. The data of this study are quoted or written words of the object to be observed that leads to social class. Sources of data in this study is Bukan Pasar Malam Pramoedya Ananta Toer novel issued by the Balai Pustaka in 1959. Social class in the novel of Night Market Pramoedya Ananta Toer are: 1) an overview of social class, upper class earn a decent living with luxurious amenities, while the lower class they are very difficult to get some foods, 2) social class conflict, causing rebellion within the lower social class as it gets unfair treatment by the upper classes, 3) the impact of conflict of social class produce impact to deficity and suffering to the lower classes, such as the family, education and healthy.

Abstract

The study aims to describe'' (1) social distortion against the prevailing norms in society contained in novel The glowing hearts by Prasetyo Wiwid, (2) The causes of social deviation in novel The glowing hearts by Prasetyo Wiwid, (3) The causes of irregularities contained in novel The glowing hearts Prasetyo Wiwid work. This research is a qualitative research which used descriptive method and used mimesis approach, to see how the social equation in the novel The glowing hearts by Prasetyo Wiwid, the research was done by analyzing the novel by describing the structure of the novel, classifying the deviated event by each character and finally made the conclusion.

Abstract

This study was conducted to describe: (1) The difference in pronounce system and a vocabulary of Minangkabau in Northern Kambang sub- district,  Lengayang Distric,  of South Coastal Regency with General Minangkabau language. (2) the difference in the vocabulary of Minangkabau language in Northern Kambang sub-district,  Lengayang District,  of South Coastal Regency  with General Minangkabau language. The research is a qualitative study by using descriptive methods. Data were collected through a technical conversation with native speakers in North Kambang sub-district.  Analyzing data is carried out with the following steps. First, transcribe the informants’ speech that  have been recorded. Second, classifying the data of vocabulary differences in the pronounce system. Thirdly, concludes the different data based on the data that has been analyzed. Based on the results of the study, concluded the following. First, the differences in sound system of Minangkabau language in Northern Kambang sub-district, Lengayang District, South Coastal regency with the general Minangkabau language include: (1) the difference vocals consist of differences in vowel (a - u), (e - i), and ( i - a), (2) differences in the consonants made up the difference consonants (ø - h), (m - b), (n - ø), (ø - n), (η - ø), (η - n),  (n - ø), (n - n), (r - ø), (ø - r), (ʁ - h), (ʁ - r), (s - h), (w - ø), (w - r), and (y - ø), (3) the diphthong consists of the difference diphthongs (ɛ - ɛa), (u - ua), and (ur - ua), Second, the differences in Minangkabau’s vocabularies in Northern Kambang sub-district, Lengayang District,  South Coastal  regency with  the general Minangkabau language occur in: (a) verb, (b ) adjective, and (c) nouns.Keywords: phonology, sound system, vocabulary, minangkabau language

Abstract

The purposes of this research were is describe the, (1) variety of directive speech act in GSM first card advertisement; (2) function of speech act in GSM first card; (3) speech act in GSM first card; (4) speech situation context in GSM first card. The data of this research is directive speech act in GSM first card advertisement. The source of this research is speech act in GSM first card advertisement. The data were collected by using listening method and writing technique. Finding of the research is five kind of directive speech act, they are asking, requesting, giving suggestion, giving advice, and denying.  Four speech act function are competitive, gratify, cooperation, and contradiction. Four kind speech strategies are speaking admittedly without platitude, speaking admittedly with positive gentlemen platitude, speaking admittedly with negative gentlemen platitude, and speaking obscurely. Twelve speech situation contexts are in speech situation context (+K+S+P), tends to be used BTTB speaking strategy; in speech situation (+K+S-P), (+K-S-P),  (=K+S+P), (=K+S-P), (-K+S+P), and (-K-S+P), tends to be used BBKP speaking strategy; in speech situation (+K-S+P), and (=K-S-P),  tends to be used BBKN speaking strategy; and in speech situation (=K-S+P), (-K+S-P), and (-K-S-P),  tends to be used BBS speaking strategy.

Abstract

This research was conducted to describe (1) the form of morphemic reduplication in Mentawai language, (2) the meaning of reduplication in Mentawai language. This type of research is qualitative research using a descriptive method. The subjects of this study are sentences containing elements of the expression of morphemic reduplication in Mentawai language used by the community in Sigapokna Village, West Siberut District, Mentawai Islands Regency. The data taken is analyzed by the following steps: (1) transcribing the recorded data into written language, (2) identifying the data in accordance with the format provided, (3) classifying the data into morphemic reduplication forms and meanings, ( 4) conclude the data based on the results of the study. There are two findings in this study. First, based on the form, the morphemis reduplication in the Mentawai language used by the community in Sigapokna Village, West Siberut District can be classified into four (1) full reduplication, (2) partial reduplication, (3) affix reduplication, (4) reduplication of phoneme changes. Secondly, based on the meaning of redemption of moemfemis in the Mentawai language used by the people in Sigapokna Village, there were 11 morphemis reduplication meanings, namely (1) many meanings, (2) many meanings explained, (3) unconditional meaning, (4) resembling meanings, ( 5) repeated meanings, (6) meaning of actions carried out without purpose, (7) mutual meaning, (8) meaning of work, (9) meaning rather, (10) meaning of the highest level, (11) meaning intensity of feeling.Keywords: morphemic reduplication, form and meaning.

Abstract

This research is qualitative research using descriptive method. The data source is showing the form of discrimination, the causes of discrimination, and the impact of discrimination on the lives of characters. The technique of data collection through three stages, first read and understand the entire contents of the Glass House's novel works of Pramoedya Ananta Toer, the two mark each part of the novel that deals with discrimination, the three recorded data on the forms and causes of discrimination using the format of the inventory data. Based on the results of data analysis that has been done against Greenhouse novel works of Pramoedya Ananta Toer, three forms of discrimination can be summed up as follows: (1) racial discrimination, (2) gender discrimination, and (3) discrimination elite. Two causes of discrimination are reflected in the novel, namely: (1) the difference in the group, and (2) social identity. The impact of discrimination for the life of the characters in the novel, including (1) bring up the hostility between groups, (2) the occurrence of killings, and (3) give birth to poverty.Keywords: Discrimination, Rumah Kaca, Racial Discrimination

Abstract

The perposes of this researeh are to describe and the explain the appreciation of society in kanagarian Simalidu Kecamatan Koto Salak Kabupaten Dharmasraya. West Sumatra to the Jaran Kepang. The research is using the descriptive methade and the of this research is qualitative the issues that describe is type the appreciation and the acceptance of the society to Jaran Kepang in Kanagarian Simalidu Kecamatan Koto Salak Kabupaten Dharmasraya. That obtainable through the questionnaire and interview that using by the instrument in this research. The accumulation technique of data that using here are: (1) the observation to searching the informan that requires in the research, (2) give the questionnaire that contain same questions that have to be answered by the society in Kanagarian Simalidu Kecamatan Koto Salak Kabupaten Dharmasraya, (3) The structural interview, by using some questions to the informans based an the research, (4) record, by recorded oral data that express by the informans, (5) note, by kating all the informan that has bean obtained from the observation the interview, and the recard.
