Abstract

Measurement of development in general uses the Human Development Index (HDI) indicator, but this concept cannot yet be a comprehensive measure of human development. The concept of HDI has an aspect of inequality and only measures the material session, while the spiritual is not measured. Therefore, the Islamic Human Development Index (I-HDI) is here to provide solutions for measuring human development in a complex way by measuring people's welfare through material, spiritual, and moral aspects. The purpose of this study is to explain the concepts and indicators of the human development index from an Islamic perspective and their relevance to maqāṣid al-sharī'ah. This research uses a method with a descriptive qualitative approach, which is an effort to understand the concepts found in the research process, using content analysis techniques and library research or literature review. The findings from this study indicate that the concept of the Islamic Human Development Index (I-HDI) provides an overview of the achievement of human development based on maqāṣid al-sharīʿah by measuring material and non-material aspects. I-HDI is an attempt to translate conventional development concepts into an Islamic perspective, in which the analytical tool used is based on the five maqāṣid al-sharīʿah dimensions as indicators of human needs both materially and spiritually. The I-HDI measurement is based on five maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, namely the protection and safeguarding of religion (ad-dien), protection of the soul (an-nafs), protection of the mind (al-aql), protection of offspring (an-nasl), protection of property (al-maal).

This study uses hypothesis testing with a quantitative approach. The unit of analysis used in this study is Islamic Commercial Banks in Indonesia (10 Islamic banks). The type of data used is secondary data, data sources from documents obtained through media such as publications or websites. In this study the data used is the Annual Report (Annual Report). Based on the time/time dimension of implementation, this study uses panel data, consisting of 10 Islamic banks in Indonesia, and uses annual data for 8 (eight) periods starting from 2014-2021. The study population was 80. The statistical tools used for panel data analysis were panel regression models, namely Common Effects (CE), Fixed Effects (FE) and Random Effects (RE). Data processing software using Eviews. The findings show that company size and DER have a sizeable impact on financial performance, even though the sharia supervisory board does not moderate the relationship, while the sharia supervisory board moderates the relationship between funding levels and firm performance. The results of this study can be a guideline for managers of sharia banks to provide financing through the most effective level of funding possible. The results of this study can provide a basis for recommending policies to Islamic banking authorities and Islamic banking supervisors in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the financial aspects of BMTs or Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (sharia cooperatives) in Tasikmalaya, as well as finding solutions deemed appropriate according to respondents’ agreement. The method used is the Analytic Network Process (ANP). The results of the study show that there are three elements in the financial aspects affected by the pandemic. The first is liquidity. The pandemic caused a high number of problematic financing, hence the solution is limiting financing approval. The second is profitability. To boost the already-low availability of funds, a BMTs should sell unproductive assets.  Lastly is the third party funding. The drop in creditors’ level of confidence must be solve by fostering public trust. The implication of this study will improve the financial condition of BMT, so it can rise from the downturn due to the pandemic.

Abstract

This study offers an empirical analysis of the factors that influence the customer attitudes towards the adoption of Financial Technology services within the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector. Using Survey method, a total of 240 respondents from MSMEs were included in the sample for this study. These respondents were selected from 16 different areas located in five typical provinces in Indonesia, namely Aceh, West Sumatera, Jakarta, West Java, and East Java. This research investigates the impact of several key factors on the consumer attitudes of MSMEs towards the adoption of FinTech. These factors include Perceived Ease of Use, Digital Literacy, Risk Perception, Infrastructure, Entrepreneurial Spirit, and Perceived Usefulness. This paper utilized the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) technique to analyse various measurement, observations, and a hybrid model. The results of the study suggest that within the specific domain of halal sector MSMEs in Indonesia, there is no significant impact of parameters such as digital finance literacy, perceived risk, and perceived utility on the adoption of digital financial services. Nevertheless, it has been observed that the perceived ease of use, the presence of adequate infrastructure, and the presence of an entrepreneurial mindset have been found to have a positive and statistically significant influence on the adoption of financial technology services among MSMEs. This study also offers theoretical and practical implications for key stakeholders seeking to enhance the utilization of financial technology services among MSMEs in Indonesia
