Abstract

The Pare sub-district had the highest fire incidence rate in Kediri Regency in 2023, with 20% of fire incidents being house fires, and 37.5% of these caused by electrical installations that did not meet the required standards. The community lacks awareness regarding the use of standard electrical installations. This study employed a qualitative approach, using interviews and observations, and analyzed the data through source and method triangulation to ensure the validity of the findings. The results indicated that all houses of respondents who had experienced fires had non-standard electrical installations. The components of the electrical installation, such as cables, junction boxes, and switches, exhibited a high level of non-compliance, with cables being the most problematic component (100% non-compliant), followed by junction boxes (80%) and switches (60%). Cables were the primary contributor to fire incidents, accounting for 80% of cases. Junction boxes and light fittings also contributed to the fires in the respondents' houses, with each accounting for 10%.

Abstract

Non-standard electrical installations often cause fires due to short circuits. RCBO (Residual Current Circuit Breaker with Overcurrent Protection) is known to enhance electrical installation protection. People often neglect the dangers of non-standard electrical installations. This study designs a demonstration tool for an electrical protection system. The demonstration tool is intended to show that using non-standard electrical devices is hazardous. It effectively demonstrates the effectiveness of RCBO in protecting against abnormal conditions. The design includes testing MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) and RCBO as circuit breakers. The results show that RCBO is effective in minimizing electrical risks and plays a crucial role in protecting electrical equipment. In the short-circuit test, the RCBO tripped in 1.33 seconds, while the MCB tripped in 5.19 seconds. In the leakage current test, the RCBO was able to detect a leakage of 30 mA. Additionally, in the overload test at 1.8In, the RCBO tripped in 9.4 seconds, whereas the MCB tripped in 33.2 seconds. Thus, the RCBO demonstration tool created can visualize electrical hazard factors such as short circuits, leakage currents, and overloads. Moreover, the combination of RCBO and MCB is more effective as protection.

Abstract

Data exchange over the internet is susceptible to security issues. Efforts to secure the system are carried out using various methods. One method used is to encrypt data. This research uses a combination of Base64 and Pepper encryption methods. The Base64 algorithm is a two-way hashing algorithm which is used to encrypt and decrypt data. The Pepper algorithm is used to insert several characters into the data. The combination of the two algorithms uses multilevel techniques. From the test results it can be seen that the application of the combination of the Base64 and Pepper algorithms provides more complex encryption results when compared to the results from the pure Base64 algorithm. because it produces unrecognizable characters.

Abstract

Abstract: Motor vehicle exhaust is a major contributor to air pollution and can have a negative impact on health and the environment, so it is important to have a vehicle exhaust gas measurement tool, to ensure that vehicle exhaust is at the tolerance level set by the government. This study aims to create a mini gas analyzer tool based on Arduino Uno that can measure carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbon (HC) levels in motor vehicle exhaust. The tool design uses an MQ7 sensor to measure CO and an MQ6 sensor to measure HC and Arduino Uno as a data processor. Tool testing was carried out by experimenting with several vehicles with different engine conditions. The test results showed an average error of 1.89% for CO and 0.375% for HC when compared to conventional tools. Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of adding a flow transmitter as a control in improving the accuracy of readings of petroleum production results, which previously used transmitter levels as a control. The use of transmitter levels as a control has been shown to affect watercut analyzer readings, resulting in lower and less accurate flow counts. In this research, a comparative analysis was carried out between the control system that uses a level transmitter and the control system that uses a flow transmitter. The methods used include field data collection, statistical analysis, and performance evaluation of the two systems. The results showed that the use of a flow transmitter as a control could increase the accuracy of flow readings by about 13.2% compared to the previous control. This improvement not only improves the accuracy of flow measurements, but also has a positive impact on operational efficiency and management of petroleum resources. This research is expected to contribute to the petroleum industry in an effort to improve a more effective and efficient production measurement and control system.

Abstract

Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects motor functions and verbal communication of the patients. Early detection of this disease is crucial to improving patients’ quality of life. This study aims to develop an early detection system for Parkinson’s Disease by utilizing sound frequency as the primary feature. The algorithm employed in this research is Random Forest, with the analysis process following the CRISP-DM approach, which includes six phases: business understanding, data understanding, data preparation, modeling, evaluation, and deployment. Based on the test results, the developed model achieved an accuracy of 94.92% on the dataset used. These findings indicate that the Random Forest algorithm can be effectively implemented as an early detection system for Parkinson’s Disease using sound frequency data.

Abstract

Lung cancer is one of the deadliest diseases and a major global health issue. Early detection is crucial to improving survival rates; however, challenges remain in prediction accuracy due to class imbalance in medical datasets. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) algorithm combined with the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) for early detection of lung cancer. The dataset used was obtained from Kaggle.com and consists of 1000 patient records with 26 clinical and demographic features. The research process followed the CRISP-DM methodology, which includes business understanding, data understanding, data preparation, modeling, evaluation, and deployment stages. In the modeling phase, the KNN algorithm was implemented with k=3 after applying SMOTE to balance the class distribution. Evaluation results showed excellent model performance with an accuracy of 99.50%, and precision, recall, and F1-score values that were nearly perfect. Therefore, the combination of the KNN algorithm and SMOTE has proven to be effective in enhancing the predictive capability for lung cancer severity levels, indicating its potential to be developed into a medical decision support system in the future.

Abstract

Visible Light Communication (VLC) is a wireless communication technology that utilizes visible light as a medium for transmitting information. This study develops a VLC-based audio communication system using a laser diode (LD) as a transmitter and a solar panel as an audio signal receiver. This system is designed to evaluate the performance of voice transmission in various lighting conditions (bright and dark), distances (1–48 meters), and variations in the angle of light transmission and reflection. The test results show that the system is able to transmit audio stably up to a distance of 48 meters, both in bright and dark conditions. However, the sound quality received tends to be higher and more stable in dark conditions, with an average dB value above 90 dB, and minimal interference from environmental light. In addition, high tones such as la, sol, and si show the best quality in both conditions. The test of the beam angle and reflection through the mirror also proved that the system remains effective even though the angle and distance increase, especially in low light intensity environments. From the overall results, this laser-based VLC system is proven to be an efficient, power-saving, and electromagnetic interference-resistant wireless audio communication alternative, and is very suitable for use in dark indoor environments or areas sensitive to radio waves. Abstract

Disturbances in power distribution networks, such as growing trees or the presence of animals near electrical cables, can disrupt electricity flow and pose safety risks. To address this, a remote monitoring system was developed using LoRa (Long Range) communication for long-distance, low-power data transmission. The system integrates a JSN-SR04T ultrasonic sensor to measure the distance between objects (e.g., trees) and power lines. When the detected distance is less than the safe limit of 2.5 meters, a warning buzzer is triggered, and the ESP32-CAM module captures an image of the surrounding area. Data and images are transmitted via LoRa RA-02 in a point-to-point setup and displayed in real-time using an IoT platform. Testing results show that the ultrasonic sensor provides accurate measurements with an average error of 1.12%. LoRa communication remained reliable up to approximately 348 meters, with minor interference caused by physical obstacles. The ESP32-CAM successfully captured images when objects were detected. This system proves to be effective for early detection and monitoring of potential disturbances in power distribution networks

Abstract

Motor induksi tiga fasa adalah alat listrik yang mengubah energy listrik menjadi energi mekanik, dimana listrik yang diubah adalah listrik 3 fasa. Kampus Politeknik Penerbangan Medan (POLTEKBANG) yang memiliki beberapa gedung bertingka, untuk memenuhi kebutuhan air bersih di gedung bertingkat ini pihak dari Kampus Politeknik Penerbangan Medan (POLTEKBANG) memanfaatkan motor listrik untuk memenuhi ketersediaan air bersih yang memadai. tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah Untuk mengetahui nilai efesiensi kinerja Motor Induksi 3 Phase untuk distribusi air bersih di Kampus Politeknik Penerbangan Medan (POLTEKBANG).
