Abstract

Stroke is a leading cause of disability and often results in motor function impairment, particularly a decrease in muscle mobilization ability. Stroke patient rehabilitation requires structured nursing interventions and active family involvement. Supportive Educative Nursing Intervention (SENI) based on Family-Centered Care is a nursing approach that emphasizes education, support, and family participation in the recovery process. This study used a quantitative research design with a quasi-experimental approach using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The independent variable was Supportive Educative Nursing Intervention (SENI) based on Family-Centered Care, while the dependent variable was progressive muscle mobilization in stroke patients. The sample consisted of 30 stroke patients undergoing rehabilitation at  Sembiring general hospital Deli Tua in 2026 , selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a progressive muscle mobilization observation sheet. The intervention was delivered through structured education, family assistance, and progressive muscle mobilization exercises in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed an improvement in progressive muscle mobilization ability after the intervention. Statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of Supportive Educative Nursing Intervention based on Family-Centered Care on the improvement of progressive muscle mobilization in stroke patients. In conclusion, Supportive Educative Nursing Intervention (SENI) based on Family-Centered Care is quantitatively effective in improving progressive muscle mobilization in stroke patients and is recommended for implementation in rehabilitative nursing practice.

Abstract

Abstract

Menstruation in adolescents is one of the indicators of biological maturity that occurs during puberty and signifies a woman’s readiness for pregnancy. Women’s reproductive health is influenced by various factors, including nutritional status and body weight. In addition, women often experience various menstrual-related problems, one of which is menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea is a common complaint among adolescent girls during menstruation and has the potential to interfere with daily activities. The use of natural ingredients, such as red ginger, is considered a relatively safe and effective alternative therapy for reducing pain without causing side effects associated with chemical medications.  This study aimed to analyze the effect of administering red ginger decoction on reducing the level of dysmenorrhea pain among female adolescents at Nusantara Private Senior High School, Lubuk Pakam. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest approach involving 20 adolescent female respondents who experienced dysmenorrhea. Pain intensity was measured using a pain scale before and after the administration of red ginger decoction over several menstrual cycles. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test to determine significant differences.  The results of the Wilcoxon test indicated a significant reduction in pain (p = 0.000), with the mean pain score decreasing from 2.60 to 1.70 after the intervention. A total of 40% of respondents reported no pain after receiving the red ginger decoction. In conclusion, the administration of red ginger decoction has been proven effective in reducing dysmenorrhea pain among adolescent girls and can be considered a safe, practical, and natural alternative therapy.

Abstract

Background: Childbirth is a physiological process that often leads to anxiety, particularly among primigravida mothers who have no prior experience with labor. Elevated anxiety levels may influence uterine contractions and potentially prolong the duration of the first stage of labor. One non-pharmacological approach to reducing maternal anxiety is emotional support from the husband during the childbirth process. The presence of the husband can provide a sense of security, enhance comfort, and increase the mother’s confidence, thereby facilitating a smoother labor process. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of husband’s companionship during labor on the duration of the first stage of labor and the anxiety levels of primigravida mothers at Clinic X in 2026. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach. The sample consisted of 14 primigravida mothers selected through purposive sampling. Anxiety levels were measured using an anxiety questionnaire, while the duration of the first stage of labor was observed using a partograph. Data were analyzed using the Paired Sample t-test. Results: The mean maternal anxiety score before the husband’s companionship was 28.64 and decreased to 19.21 after the intervention. The average duration of the first stage of labor before the intervention was 9.14 hours and decreased to 7.36 hours after the intervention. Statistical analysis showed a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect. Conclusion: Husband’s companionship during labor significantly reduces maternal anxiety and shortens the duration of the first stage of labor among primigravida mothers. Recommendation: Health care providers are encouraged to promote the active involvement of husbands as birth companions during the labor process to support maternal comfort and improve labor outcomes.
