Background: Neck pain in Cervical Root Syndrome (CRS) is caused by compression of cervical nerve roots due to trauma (e.g., whiplash injury), chronic forward head posture, or overuse. This condition radiates pain from the neck to peripheral innervated areas. McKenzie cervical exercise (extension movement) and Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) are interventions with potential to reduce pain through muscle strengthening and pain modulation mechanisms. Objective: To analyze the effect of combined McKenzie exercise and TENS on pain reduction in CRS patients at RS Grandmed Lubuk Pakam in 2025. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 20 CRS patients. The intervention consisted of McKenzie exercise (cervical extension movements) and TENS (frequency 80–100 Hz, sensory intensity) administered twice weekly for 4 weeks (8 sessions). Pain was measured using a 0–10 mm Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test (α = 0.05). Results: The mean pre-intervention pain score was 7.23 ± 1.245 (severe pain category), while the post-intervention score was 2.92 ± 1.256 (mild pain category). Statistical analysis revealed a significant reduction in pain (t = 19.23; df = 19; p < 0.001). Conclusion: The combination of McKenzie exercise and TENS significantly reduces pain (p < 0.001) in CRS patients. This intervention is recommended as a non-invasive modality for managing cervical pain.

Dysmenorrhea is a menstrual pain condition commonly experienced by adolescent girls, often interfering with daily activities both in school and social environments. The high prevalence of dysmenorrhea makes it one of the reproductive health issues that requires attention, particularly among adolescents. Management of dysmenorrhea can be carried out through pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. One of the non-pharmacological methods that is simple, inexpensive, and easy to apply is warm water compress therapy. The mechanism of warm compresses involves vasodilation of blood vessels, improved blood circulation, muscle relaxation, and reduction of pain perception, making it effective in alleviating dysmenorrhea symptoms. This study aimed to determine the effect of warm water compresses on the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain among adolescent girls at Nusantara Private Senior High School, Lubuk Pakam. The research design was pre-experimental using a one-group pretest–posttest approach. A total of 19 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a significant reduction in pain intensity after the intervention, with Z = -3.873 and p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05). The mean pain scale decreased from 2.68 to 1.89. It can be concluded that warm water compress therapy is effective in reducing the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain among adolescent girls. These findings suggest that warm compresses may serve as a recommended non-pharmacological nursing intervention to alleviate menstrual pain in adolescents.

Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) remains a major health problem worldwide, with high prevalence and significant mortality rates. This condition is characterized by the heart’s inability to pump blood adequately to meet tissue demands, leading to hemodynamic disturbances such as impaired respiration and reduced oxygen saturation. One of the simple nursing interventions that is believed to improve these conditions is body positioning. The combination of lateral and semi-fowler positions is expected to enhance venous return, optimize lung expansion, and support ventilation in CHF patients. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of combining lateral and semi-fowler positions in improving hemodynamic status, specifically respiratory pattern and oxygen saturation, among patients with congestive heart failure at GrandMed Hospital, Lubuk Pakam.A pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach was employed. A total of 23 respondents were selected using purposive sampling based on inclusion criteria. Respiratory rate and oxygen saturation were measured before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Test with a significance level of α = 0.05.Prior to the intervention, most patients experienced tachypnea (78%) and low oxygen saturation (52.2%). Following the intervention, improvements were observed, with 60.9% of patients achieving normal respiratory patterns and 56.5% showing adequate oxygen saturation, while only 8.7% remained in the low category. Statistical analysis revealed significant differences in respiratory rate (mean difference = 0.391; Z = -3.873; p = 0.001) and oxygen saturation (mean difference = 0.783; Z = -3.873; p = 0.001).The combination of lateral and semi-fowler positions proved effective in reducing tachypnea and enhancing oxygenation in patients with congestive heart failure. This intervention may serve as a simple, practical, and applicable nursing measure to support hemodynamic stability in CHF patients.

Hypertension is a major public health problem with a prevalence that continues to increase both globally and nationally. This condition is often referred to as a “silent killer” because it usually presents without symptoms yet may lead to severe complications such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney failure. Data from the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) revealed that the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia reached 34.1% among individuals aged ≥18 years, showing an increase compared to 2013. One contributing risk factor is excessive sodium intake that exceeds daily recommendations, combined with poor nutritional knowledge influencing individual dietary behaviors. This study employed an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach to analyze the association between sodium intake and nutritional knowledge with the incidence of hypertension among inpatients at Harapan Insan Sendawar General Hospital. The study population included all elderly patients aged over 60 years (n = 36), selected through total sampling. Primary data were collected via interviews using a semi-FFQ questionnaire and blood pressure measurements, while secondary data were obtained from hospital records. Findings showed that most respondents were over 60 years old (61.1%), had high sodium intake (80.5%), and low nutritional knowledge (72.2%). The prevalence of hypertension among respondents was remarkably high at 94.4%. Statistical analysis demonstrated a significant association between sodium intake and hypertension (p = 0.010), as well as between nutritional knowledge and hypertension (p = 0.032). In conclusion, high sodium consumption and low nutritional knowledge significantly contribute to the incidence of hypertension among elderly patients. These findings highlight the importance of nutrition education and sodium intake control as preventive strategies for hypertension.

Motor development in early childhood serves as a fundamental basis for supporting a child’s future physical, cognitive, and social growth. Parents—particularly mothers—play a pivotal role in providing appropriate early stimulation. However, limited maternal knowledge often contributes to delays in children’s motor development. This study aimed to identify the relationship between mothers’ knowledge levels and motor development among children aged 0–24 months in the working area of Pagar Jati Health Center.A quantitative observational approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study population consisted of 85 mothers with children aged 0–24 months, from which 30 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Primary data were collected through structured questionnaires assessing maternal knowledge, while secondary data were obtained from medical records and child motor development reports. Data analysis included descriptive and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test at a 0.05 significance level. The findings showed that 46.7% of mothers had good knowledge, 33.3% had moderate knowledge, and 20.0% had poor knowledge. Most children (66.7%) demonstrated age-appropriate motor development, while 20.0% were classified as doubtful, and 13.3% exhibited developmental deviations. The Chi-square test revealed a significant association between maternal knowledge and children’s motor development (p = 0.031). It can be concluded that higher maternal knowledge is positively associated with a greater likelihood of achieving age-appropriate motor development. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening maternal health education programs to prevent developmental delays in early childhood.

Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide, and sudden cardiac arrest is a life-threatening emergency that requires immediate management through Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The low survival rate of patients is often attributed to insufficient knowledge and preparedness among healthcare professionals in performing CPR. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between nurses’ level of knowledge and their readiness to perform CPR in the ICU of Grandmed Hospital, Lubuk Pakam. A quantitative method with a cross-sectional and correlational design was employed. The study population included all 19 ICU nurses, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire covering respondent characteristics, CPR knowledge based on American Heart Association (AHA) standards, and readiness to respond to emergency situations. Univariate analysis revealed that the majority of respondents were female (68.4%), aged 20–29 years (68.4%), held a professional nursing degree (63.2%), had 1–5 years of work experience (63.2%), and more than half had never attended CPR training (52.6%). Furthermore, 84.2% of nurses demonstrated good knowledge, and 78.9% were categorized as highly ready. The Spearman’s rho test indicated a strong and significant positive correlation between knowledge and readiness (r = 0.629; p = 0.004). In conclusion, the higher the nurses’ level of knowledge regarding CPR, the better their readiness to handle sudden cardiac arrest in the ICU.

Background: The three-month injectable contraceptive remains a popular hormonal method owing to its convenience and efficacy. Nevertheless, weight gain is a common adverse effect that often prompts discontinuation. Aromayoga—a therapeutic combination of aromatherapy and yoga—has emerged as a potential non-pharmacological strategy to mitigate this problem by restoring hormonal balance, relieving stress, and improving metabolic activity. Objective: This study sought to examine the impact of aromayoga on body weight among women using the three-month injectable contraceptive who experienced weight gain as a side effect. Methods: A quasi-experimental design employing a pretest–posttest control group approach was implemented. The study involved 30 women of reproductive age using the three-month injectable contraceptive, equally divided into an intervention group (n = 15) and a control group (n = 15). The aromayoga sessions were administered over a four-week period, three times weekly, with each session lasting 30 minutes. Statistical analyses were performed using paired-sample and independent t-tests.Results: The intervention group demonstrated a significant reduction in body weight with a mean decrease of 1.5 kg (p = 0.002), whereas the control group exhibited a mean weight increase of 0.3 kg (p = 0.084). Independent t-test analysis revealed a statistically significant difference between the two groups following the intervention (p = 0.015). Conclusions: The findings indicate that aromayoga is an effective non-pharmacological intervention for reducing weight gain among users of the three-month injectable contraceptive. Incorporating aromayoga into community health programs could promote user comfort and support the continued use of contraceptive methods.

Background: Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common cause of physical disability in children. One of the most frequently cited definitions of CP is 'a group of permanent disorders in the development of movement and posture, which causes activity limitations, caused by non-progressive disorders that occur in the development of the fetal or infant brain'. Non-pharmacological approaches such as exercise therapy have been shown to be effective in overcoming the problems of children with cerebral palsy. One of the exercise interventions that has the potential to increase trunk stabilization is Treatment Trunk Stability Training. This technique works synergistically to target the trunk, improve gross motor function, trunk control, and balance, and will help better functional recovery in children with cerebral palsy. Objective: To determine the effect of Trunk Stability Training on Increasing Segmental Of Trunk Control Values in Cerebral Palsy Patients. Methods: This study is a quantitative pre-experimental study with a one group pretest-posttest design. A total of 13 subjects diagnosed with cerebral palsy underwent a two-week intervention. Measurement of trunk stability or trunk control was performed using Segmental Of Trunk Control (SATCo). Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test with a significance level of α = 0.05. Results: The results of the Shapiro-Wilk normality test showed that the data were not normally distributed (p <0.05). The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a p-value = 0.016 (<0.05), which means that there was a significant difference between the Segmental Of Trunk Control (SATCo) scores before and after the intervention. Conclusion: Trunk Stability Training treatment has been proven effective in strengthening or stabilizing the trunk/torso and improving trunk control in children with cerebral palsy.

Labor is a physiological process involving the coordination of uterine contractions, cervical dilation, and fetal descent through the birth canal. One of the factors that can prolong the duration of labor is the slow process of cervical dilation due to low levels of natural oxytocin. A non-pharmacological method that can stimulate the release of endogenous oxytocin is nipple stimulation, which has the potential to accelerate cervical dilation and facilitate the progress of labor. This study aimed to analyze the effect of nipple stimulation on the acceleration of cervical dilation in primigravida mothers during the first stage of active labor. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with two groups: an intervention group (nipple stimulation) and a control group (no stimulation). The study was conducted at X Maternity Clinic from July to September 2025 with a total of 12 respondents randomly divided into two groups of six participants each. Data were analyzed using the independent t-test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed that the mean duration of full cervical dilation in the intervention group was 4.2 hours (SD = 0.8), while in the control group it was 6.1 hours (SD = 1.0) with a p-value of 0.011. The mean rate of cervical dilation in the intervention group was 1.8 cm/hour (SD = 0.4), higher than in the control group at 1.1 cm/hour (SD = 0.3) with a p-value of 0.017. It can be concluded that nipple stimulation significantly affects the acceleration of cervical dilation in primigravida mothers during the active phase of the first stage of labor. This intervention serves as a safe, effective, and easily applicable non-pharmacological alternative to support the normal progress of labor.
