Abstract

This research was conducted to study the learning of explanatory text writing that raises various problems including, students difficulties in expressing ideas through written language, students' difficulties in starting the writing process and students difficulties in developing the right words. This research was conducted on eighth grade students of Darul Hikmah Parongpong Middle School. This study aims to describe the learning of writing explanatory texts using mind mapping methods, fostering students curiosity in writing especially in writing explanatory texts, and to overcome students difficulties in pouring ideas into thinking in writing explanatory texts. This research method uses descriptive qualitative which aims to describe naturally and systematically from the results of writing explanatory texts, as well as using data collection techniques with writing skills tests. The results of the study during the learning activities carried out on the explanatory text writing test using the mind mapping method obtained results with an average value of 19.40, with a percentage of 84.43% with good criteria. Thus learning to write explanatory texts using the mind mapping method can be said to be successful by obtaining a percentage above average.

Abstract

Literature is called meaningful language art, and literature is usually regarded as a prose that contains no fact but is fiction. One of the literary works chosen by the authors of this study is short stories. Reported from Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI) states that short story is an acronym for short story. Short stories or short stories are referred to as a work of literary art that serves as a minutes of life according to (Nuroh & Sidoarjo, 2011). Similarly, the short story titled "witness" by Sapardi Djoko Damono. This research was conducted to find out the implied meaning of the short story. The method used is qualitative descriptive research method, then analyzed using a semiotic approach of Saussure thought in order to interpret the information conveyed in the short story by giving a signifier and signified so that the meaning of the short story can be known. The steps of this study are, (1) choosing short stories, (2) analyzing short stories by dividing stories into paragraphs, (3) analyzing paragraphs with Ferdinand De Saussure's semiotic theory, (4) determining markers and markers, and (5) describing results. The result of this study that became a marker is the short story and the sign is the result of the interpretation of the short story.

Abstract

Poetry is an imaginative literary work that serves as an entertaining reading. However, not a few poems are difficult to know the meaning or meaning, due to a lack of knowledge in analyzing the meaning of the poem. Therefore, understanding is needed in analyzing a poem with various approaches. The aim of this research is to find out the meaning of Ika Mustika poem entitled "Kemarau", and to increase understanding of the mimetic approach. The mimetic approach is a literary work that connects life's conflicts with imitation of nature. Ika Mustika poetry is formed from a unique language structure and has a broad meaning that makes readers interested in his work. This research is very useful for readers and writers in producing a literary work in the form of poetry. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method, namely by presenting the results of the study in the form of words. The author got this source from the book “Mustika 40 Puisi”. The results of this poetry analysis explain the mood in terms of waiting, this poem looks simple but has a very broad meaning. The author analogizes the meaning of poetry into an expression that not everyone understands.

Abstract

Pilihan kata atau diksi yang digunakan oleh Rocky Gerung, khususnya yang dapat disaksikan dalam acara Indonesia Lawyers Club menampilkan sisi lain dari diksi. Gaya komunikasi yang terkesan nyeleneh dan nyeletuk dipadu padankan dengan diksi-diksi yang menggelitik dalam riungan bincang politik. Sajian masalah sepelik politik tersamarkan oleh canda yang dibuat dari pilih kata yang tidak biasa. Walaupun tidak jarang diksi Rocky mendapat caci, serta maki dari para rekan seprofesi yang berjulukan politisi, tidak luput dari esensi bahwa diksi rocky menjadi media komunikasi yang serasi dari banyaknya komunikan yang menanggapi.

Abstract

Writing fable texts on the learning of junior high school students can be categorized into difficult lessons. Because students are required to be able to rew write stories according to their language structure and rules. Students find it hard to imagine pouring out their ideas. This causes students to become less excited about Learning Indonesian. In this study, researchers found that students' difficulties with learning to write fable texts were still difficult in pouring their imagination into writing the fable text. It is still rare for students to apply the language rules and structure of the fable text. The purpose of this study is to improve the writing ability of students in pouring their imagination into a writing. This research was conducted by applying broken square method assisted by pictorial story. This method directs students to play puzzles or compose fragments of images that have been shared by the teacher and then students are directed to arrange the fragments into a whole image medium. This method is used to build the spirit and creativity of students so as not to get bored in writing skills. As for the results of the study obtained, researchers conducted a pre-test whose results are still many students who do not yet understand the elements and language rules of the fable text. After the use of broken square method, the writing results of students are much better than before the applied broken square method.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation in learning to write explanatory texts using picture and picture models assisted by power point media. examine teacher and student responses to learning to write explanatory texts by using picture and picture models assisted by power point media and examine students' difficulties when completing explanatory text writing questions. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Subjects in the study were students of class VIII Mutiara 4 Bandung Junior High School totaling 42 students and were given treatment in the form of models and learning media for three meetings. The instruments in this study were observation sheets, questionnaires, and test sheets. The results of the observation sheet if accumulated from three meetings for teacher activities scored 79.33% with a high category and three meetings for student activities scored 78% with a high category. On the questionnaire sheet the teacher's response was very good, guessed by the percentage obtained after being analyzed on the questionnaire the teacher got a percentage of 87.5% while for student responses the average percentage of results was 85.1% with very high descriptive analysis criteria. Difficulties experienced by students when working on problems as many as 8 students whose grades below the KKM with an overall average obtained 73.52. From the above data it can be concluded that learning to write explanatory texts using picture and picture models assisted by power point media is very effectively applied in learning

Abstract

Learning to write drama texts basically reaps many problems including the difficulties of students in learning to write. Many of them find it difficult to start the writing process, developing words into sentences correctly, of course, are considered as difficult and tedious things in determining the theme and story line in the drama script. This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Cipatat which is located in Ciptaharja Village, West Bandung Regency. The formulation of the problem in this study is the difficulty of students in writing drama scripts. This study aims to answer the formulation of problems related to the difficulty of learning to write drama texts in students. Learning to write drama texts using the picture and picture method is expected to provide new innovations in learning and education. This research method uses descriptive qualitative and uses data collection techniques in the form of writing skills tests. Based on the results of research conducted on class XI students during the learning process of writing drama texts on the initial test getting an average score of 68.7 and the final test getting an average score of 78.2 which is included in the good category.Keywords: Learning, Writing Drama Text, Picture and Picture

Abstract

Writing skills are generally regarded as difficult by students. In writing learning, many students have difficulty in pouring ideas into written language and not much vocabulary is mastered. This is based on the value of previous explanatory text writing skills getting an average value of 64.04 which certainly states that the students' ability in writing explanatory texts is still low. The formulation of the problem in this study is how the difficulties faced by students in writing explanatory texts learned in class XI. The purpose of this study is to improve students' ability to write explanatory texts using cooperative models of picture and picture types in the learning process. The method used by researchers is descriptive qualitative aims to describe what is learning to write explanatory texts by using a cooperative model of the type of picture and picture in class XI SMK students. This final result gets an average value of 80.13 which is the effectiveness of the application of the cooperative model of the picture and picture type in learning to write explanatory texts.

Abstract

This research is based on learning to write which is difficult for some students when writing explanatory text. The use of innovative learning models can certainly increase students' creativity and critical thinking skills independently with one of these learning models, namely the inquiry model. The purpose of this study was to find out how the students' abilities in learning to write explanatory text using the inquiry model. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with a research sample of 24 students of class XI MIPA. The results of research on learning to write explanatory text on the (pretest) initial action obtained an average of 53, and after being given action (posttest) using the inquiry learning model obtained an average of 76.16. Through the application of this inquiry model, it is proven to be effective in learning to write explanatory texts.

Abstract

Ratih Kumala is a short story writer and novel who studies at Sebelas Maret University in the Faculty of English Literature, although his name is foreign, Ratih Kumala represented Indonesia at the 2019 Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) which is the largest book exhibition in Asia. Researchers chose a short story titled "Woman with a dent face" by Ratih Kumala, which was very interesting to discuss, because the contents of the short story often happened to people. Various aspects of life that many children become victims of the sins of both parents, about a woman who is ostracized by the community and unwanted by both parents, lives alone in a small hut with a hand and foot in pasung, living the days with loneliness. This study aims to analyze the intrinsic elements and moral values in the short story "Woman with a Dent Face" by Ratih Kumala, while the interinsic elements are, theme, setting, plot, characterization, point of view, and mandate. The moral values contained in these short stories include, do not do things that are prohibited by religion, do not make fun of and discriminate between humans, patience, sincerity, and loyalty. The analysis of this research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. Steps to collect data in the short story "Woman with a Dent" by Ratih Kumala by (1) reading short stories intensively, then (2) analyzing intrinsic elements and their descriptions and (3) presenting data.
