This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the show not tell technique on learning to write short stories in class XI Vocational School. The method used is one-group pretest-posttest design, which compares the experimental group before being given treatment (pretest) and after being treated (posttest). The research subjects were 33 Chemistry A class XI in Padalarang Vocational High School 4 as many as 33 people. The ability to write short stories is measured by writing tests composing short stories. The average value of pretest = 63.9, posttest average value = 73.7. There is an increase in the average value after treatment of: 73.7 - 63.9 = 9.8. The results of the pretest and posttest were then processed with SPSS, namely the normality test, variance homogeneity, and t test. The normality test obtained the P-Value (sig.) Value of the pretest value of 0.068, the posttest value of 0.072. P-Value (sig.) 5 0.05, meaning that both data are normally distributed. Test for homogeneity of P-Value (sig.) 0.661. Because P-Value (sig.) Is greater than 0.05, Ho is accepted, meaning that the variants of the two groups of values compared are homogeneous. The t-test of the sample is correlated, the value of Sig is obtained. (2 tailed) of 0,000. because t count t table = 59.822 2.036 then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that there is an increase between the learning outcomes of writing short stories before and after using the show not tell technique.

This based on the problems that occur in the field in reading ability and student's independence to learn Indonesian is still low. As teachers have a great responsibility to the students so that it must be able to prepare the planning of learning is steady then as a teacher must be able to adjust the learning materials with the environment where the students live and can apply in everyday life. The research method used in this research is quasi-experiment with nonequivalent control group design type, that is experiment group or control group is not chosen randomly. The population in this study is all with two class samples totaling 60 students. Based on the research, the average value of the final test of the experimental class is 73,67 while in the control class get the average of the final test value is 60,23. Based on the calculation of the initial test of T-test obtained 0, 002 while the calculation of Mann-Whitney U obtained 0.000 results. The results of this study indicate that student learning outcomes by using the approach of transactional reading strategy is better than the lecture method on the subjects of reading fiction books.

Advertising loading in print or electronic media is growing rapidly nowadays. With the development of technology, advertising can be found not only in both media only. Even with the emergence of social media in Indonesia, especially today, we find a lot of ads on these social media. No less with the ads that exist on the internet has since antiquity advertising in print or electronic media were competing to market various products or services issued by various companies. Of course, in this case, they are trying to get profit from consumers who are interested in the various ads they offer. Ads generally offer products or services. Therefore it takes skill in writing ads so that the audience becomes interested and persuaded of the product or service offered. The language in the advertisement must be persuasive, easy to understand, easy to remember, and able to cause curiosity of the wider community. The Think-Talk-Write (TTW) approach provides an active learner and teacher as a motivator and facilitator so that students' communication and problem-solving skills develop. Teachers are expected to be able to choose methods, models, approaches and learning strategies that can spur the spirit of students to participate actively involved in the learning process so that later will lead to increased learning outcomes.

Learning to write poetry by using an acrostic technique on the class X students in SMK. The background problem in this research is that most students are not interested in writing poetry because poetry is considered as difficult; they have difficulty finding imagination and figurative words. The researchers have three research objectives based on this problem. Namely to describe the teachers and students activities when learning to write poetry by using an acrostic technique, to describe students' responses on learning to write poetry using an acrostic technique, to discover the difference between the results of the initial test and the final test in class X students at SMK. In this research, the Pre-Experimental Designs (non-design) method of one group pretest-posttest design is used and a research towards a class with 28 students is conducted. Observations, tests, and questionnaires are used as the research techniques. The results of the data obtained are the increase in student value. The average value before using the acrostic technique is 40.35 and the average value after using the acrostic technique in learning to write poetry is 79.00, the significance value indicates 0,000 based on the t test. The value is smaller than 0.05, thus the data is different from the results of the initial test and the final test. In other words, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that learning to write poetry using an acrostic technique increases students' ability to write poetry.
