Abstract

The emergence of the internet in the current era has transformed the paradigm of students in their interactions, learning, and even coordinating collective actions. The Internet provides convenience in the exchange of ideas and information, as well as facilitating fast, easy, and accessible communication for various segments of society. New forms of social interaction through the internet have enriched both personal and social life on a broader scale. However, despite the significant constructive potential of the internet, there is another aspect that needs attention. The internet has the potential to reinforce communication behaviors that are inappropriate, less suitable, or even unrestricted, often referred to as the "toxic disinhibition online effect" (Suler, 2004; Lapidot-lefler & Barak, 2012). When students interact in social media connected to the internet, they may exhibit signs of a lack of self-control, where a lack of understanding of relevant social signals and disregard for rules and barriers in online interactions become the main factors in the emergence of this effect. This finding is reinforced by Joinson's research (2004), which revealed differences in individual behavior in the online and offline worlds, even in similar situations. This research was conducted to explore the relationship between the level of self-control and the "toxic disinhibition online" effect on students who actively use social media. Measurement was carried out using the Toxic disinhibition online effect scale and the Self-control scale. The research involved 154 student respondents, with the majority (86%) of them being female. A total of 50.6% of the respondents had a high level of self-control. However, the results of statistical analysis showed that there was no significant relationship between self-control and the "toxic disinhibition online" effect (p = 0.604, r = -0.042), with the significance value exceeding the 95% confidence level. In conclusion, this research did not find a significant relationship between self-control and the "toxic disinhibition online" effect among students using social media. These findings provide additional insights into student online behavior and its implications for self-control in the digital context. All of these findings contribute to understanding the role of the internet in the development of social and individual behavior in the digital age.

Abstract

Subjective well-being, or happiness, is essential for all individuals, including university students. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between meaning in life and subjective well-being in college students. The respondents to this study were 261 Y university students in Bandung. The research method used in this study is a quantitative method that involved the use of questionnaires to collect data. The questionnaires used in this research were the Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ), the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), and PANAS (Positive Affect and Negative Affect Schedule). Research data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation. The results of data processing show that there is a positive correlation between meaning in life and subjective well-being. This study also found that aspects of meaning in life (presence of meaning in life and searching for meaning in life) correlate with aspects of subjective well-being (life satisfaction, positive affect, and negative affect). Moreover, searching for meaning is not correlated with negative affect. Through this research, it was concluded that the more students have meaning in life, the more they will be able to achieve high subjective well-being, which is characterized by having satisfaction in life, dominated by positive affect compared to negative affect. Keywords: meaning in life, subjective well-being, university student

Three fresh graduates participated in this research. They were given the Quarter-Life Crisis measurement tool and The Comprehensive Assessment of Acceptance and Commitment Treatment Process tool before being given the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy intervention in 4 sessions for two weeks. The results of this study show, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy can reduce scores of indecisiveness in making decisions, desperation, negative self-judgment, being stuck in a tough situation, anxiety, depression, and worried about interpersonal relationships that are being and will be built for the fresh graduates. It also can increase the scores of defusion, self as a context, acceptance, values, flexibles at the present moment, and committed action for fresh graduates. Both of the results show that the intervention is having an impact on fresh graduates. Even so, the research is not significant from a quantitative analysis standpoint.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS is one of the deadliest diseases worldwide, including. According to Ethel (2016), HIV/AIDS causes many negative impacts, especially for infected individuals. Besides the decline in health aspects, PLWHA tend to get negative stigma and discrimination from the surrounding community. All those stigma and discrimination will indirectly add to the psychological burden which will eventually result in their difficulty in accepting their situation. Self-acceptance is a person's ability to accept themself, which is related to psychologically healthy conditions, having awareness, and full acceptance of who and what they are (Sari, 2018). Individuals who are able to accept themselves mean that individuals are also able to understand themselves, adjust to their environment, and are not afraid to look at themselves honestly. This paper is made to conduct a literature review of studies related to self-acceptance in people with HIV/AIDS. The descriptive literature review was conducted on 8 qualitative studies with varied sampling methods. The results of the literature review show that people with HIV/AIDS from various backgrounds have a fairly positive self-acceptance. This self-acceptance is described in various forms by each PLWHA. In addition, the phases that each PLWHA goes through and the supporting factors, as well as obstacles for PLWHA in accepting themselves are also quite diverse.

Abstract

This study is a theoretical review that discusses volunteering from psychological, physiological, and cultural aspects. Volunteering is any activity that allocates free time, materials, and energy to other people, groups, or organizations. Volunteers give their time, materials, and energy in many ways. Volunteering became popular in various countries, including Indonesia, with the highest level of volunteering worldwide. Cultural factors (collectivistic vs individualistic) influence volunteering, although there are still inconsistent results. Furthermore, religiosity and levels of social trust contribute to volunteering. Physiological processes such as genetic, hormonal, and neurobiological underlie prosocial behavior. The interaction of these things impacts psychological aspects such as the expression of positive emotions and well-being, regardless of various age ranges. The benefits felt by volunteers are that they have better mental health and health conditions than non-volunteers. Considering the many benefits of volunteering activities, it is expected that there will be persuasive steps involving various stakeholders to invite more people to get involved in all forms of volunteer activities, individual and collective.

Abstract

Attention distraction test (ADT) is a tool that measures attention. ADT has lights in form of a box which can be adjusted how many lights can be turned on. The distraction of this test comes in form of the presence of other lights around the targeted lights. The aim of this study is to test the software implementation of attention and distraction test.  Importance of the study are ADT limitations in variation of the distraction and recording the answer.  ADT goes through two stages, first is testing all devices function.  Second, design will be tested on respondents to analyze the results. If improvements are still needed, design and improvements will be made. Results show software can be used properly to measure a person's attention level. If respondent  answer correctly and the reaction time is faster, it means that respondent has a better level of attention. Suggestions is to add respondent personal background, alternative colors of distraction lights and complete the data recap with sum of the correct answers and average time reaction.

Abstract

Indonesia is a multicultural country that refers to the diversity of tribes, races, religions and beliefs. This study aims to enrich the development findings by providing psychometric information on the Munroe Multicultural Attitude Scale Questionnaire (MASQUE) using the Model Rasch perspective. This also introduces the application of the Model Rasch in analyzing the validity of the Munroe Multicultural Attitude Scale Questionnaire (MASQUE). This instrument has three aspects, namely (1) Knowledge, (2) Concern, and (3) Action and has a total of 18 items. Respondents used in this study were 210 students who were taken using simple random sampling method. The results of data analysis using the Model Rasch show that the Indonesian version of the MASQUE instrument has items that are fit and have quite a variety of item difficulty levels, but adjustments need to be made in order to facilitate a more varied personability and items that are spread out in more appropriate aspects.
