Abstract

Technological advances that are growing rapidly, require parents, especially mothers, to be technology literate. Gadgets are now a primary need, especially the condition of School from Home, everything has to be online. The purpose of this study to analyze the role of parents, especially mothers, in the use of gadgets in children in the province of DIY. The research method used is descriptive quantitative research with a survey. The data were analyzed statistically using percentages and presented descriptively to reveal the mothers' role in the use of gadgets by children. The results showed that in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, the mothers' role in the use of gadgets by children was in the medium category, reaching 44.8%. The roles, based on the parenting aspect, were divided into two: control and warmth. In the former dimension, 41.2% was in the medium category, and 24.8% was in the low category. Meanwhile, in the latter, 34% was medium, and 31% was high. The roles, especially those in the medium category, were influenced by several factors, such as education, parents' perceptions of using gadgets during the School from the Home period, and the children's entertainment media. The findings of this study have implications for parents, especially mothers, to increase assistance in the use of gadgets for children.

Abstract

The impact of COVID-19 has had a major impact on the protection of children's health. Parents need to supervise children in implementing clean and healthy living behavior to avoid COVID-19. The purpose of this research is to use love cards as a form of activity to increase enthusiasm for protecting children's health. This research refers to the type of quantitative quasi-experimental research that applies one group pre-test-post-test design. Data collection techniques using interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The subject of this study involved 20 parents who provide the results of children's development achievements. The results showed that the application of clean and healthy living behavior during the pre-test was 25%, and after being given treatment using love cards, the percentage was 85%. There was a significant increase from pre test to post test by 60%. That study using love cards have a good effect on increasing the application of clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) in early childhood.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the implementation of learning in early childhood. Monotonous learning is the focus of this research problem. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the strategies adopted by parents in dealing with children who are bored with learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and the factors that influence it. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The research location is in TK Masyithoh II Sanansari. The research subjects were principals, teachers, parents, and students. Collecting data using observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using the Milles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, display data, and conclusion drawing/verification data. Test the validity of the data using source triangulation and technical triangulation. The results of the study showed that the learning saturation of Group B TK Masyithoh II Sanansari Kindergarten during the COVID-19 pandemic was because students did not have friends to exchange imagination and learning was monotonous. The strategies used by parents are: repeating orders, providing psychological support for children, and providing rewards. The supporting factors, namely: intrapersonal encouragement and encouragement from the family. While the inhibiting factors consist of: unstable child's mood, busy family, and the surrounding environment. The findings of this study have an educational impact on parents in accompanying children to learn during the COVID-19 pandemic and recommend parents to use this strategy as well as evaluation materials for early childhood educators.

Abstract

The success of education lies in the extent to which teachers use their abilities in educational practice. This study aims to analyze the academic stress in early childhood in Kindergarten institutions in Banjaran District. The research uses a qualitative approach using the case study. The subject of this research is a Kindergarten teacher in Banjaran District. Collecting data using observation and interviews. Analysis of research data using grounded theory. Test the validity of research data using triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of this study indicate that early childhood experiences stress in Banjaran District due to pressure from parents or guardians of students who want their children to be able to reading, writing, and counting. Principals and teachers have to fulfill the demands of parents or guardians of Kindergarten students in Banjaran District. In addition, the Principal of Kindergarten Schools in Banjaran District assigns various tasks to teachers. The findings of this study contribute to knowledge in the form of causes of early childhood academic stress and recommend early childhood education institutions to minimize stress in early childhood.

Abstract

Emotional intelligence is important to be instilled in children from an early age. The lack of compatibility of early childhood emotional intelligence instruments in achieving child development in the globalization era is a research problem. This study aims to develop an instrument of emotional intelligence for children aged 5-6 years. The method used to research and development modification of the Borg & Gall development model. The research populations were the teachers and parents of group B students. Sampling used incidental sampling technique. Research respondents amounted to 212 respondents. Content validity was carried out by experts, resulting in 6 dimensions of self-understanding, 5 dimensions of self-control, 5 dimensions of understanding others, and 6 dimensions of building relationships. The results of the study obtained the calculation of the validity of the field trial the percentage of teachers was 98% and the percentage of parents was 89%. The average value of the percentage of teachers and parents is 94% with a very valid category. Calculation of reliability using Cronbach's Alpha of 0.966 with a high reliable category. The findings of this study contribute to the understanding of early childhood emotional intelligence instruments and recommend early childhood educators use emotional intelligence instruments as a guide for assessing aspects of early childhood emotional development.
