Abstract

Bolted joints are generally used to connect two or more mechanical structures due to their ease of assembly and disassembly for maintenance. However, the problem of vibration is one of the main challenges when the tightness of the bolted joints is insufficient, causing failures such as looseness and resulting in disconnection. Looseness is the most common cause of dynamically loaded bolted joint structure failure. This study tested a simple bolt joint structure to observe the looseness indication of the bolt joint after it was vibrated using a shaker in a single-frequency excitation. A freely fixed beam consisting of two beams connected by a bolt and subjected to varying bolt tightening torques. Then the response measurement is carried out by recording the FRF graph obtained from loosening and tightening bolt torque effects. Modal parameters such as personal frequency and damping ratio were collected through experimental modal analysis (EMA). It was found that the structure’s vibration could change the conditions of loosening or lower tightening torque indicated by shifting the structure’s natural frequency. In addition, the damping characteristics are also affected by changes in the tightening torque. Especially when conditions are loose, the damping ratio becomes much higher than that of tightening.

Abstract

Polymer materials have been widely developed as alternative materials to replace metal materials due to various advantages such as having low density and an easy manufacturing process. Still, polymers have many disadvantages, including not having high mechanical strength, easy to crack when hit by impact. One of the materials studied is an unsaturated polyester polymer widely used for composite matrices in vehicle structural components, aircraft and ship bodies, and vehicle components. One of the studied fibers is rice husk particle fiber. The study of cracks is essential because it causes the material to no longer be able to support the load according to the previous plan and causes failure to occur more quickly. One way to overcome material failure due to cracks in the composite material is to prevent crack propagation by adding reinforcing material. In this study, a composite material was made using rice husk fiber to increase the crack resistance of the polyester composite matrix. From the results of crack testing, there is a tendency to increase the percentage of rice husks by 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. The value expected to be obtained for determining the crack resistance of the material is the value of the stress intensity factor (K1). The most significant K1 value was obtained at a 15% rice husk percentage variable of 1,558 MPa.m0.5. This price could increase the value of the pure polyester stress intensity factor K1 by 0.667 MPa.m0.5, indicating an increase of 233.58%.

Abstract

The problem of the oxy-acetylene welding plate cutting tool that is commonly used today is still in a manual way, and is not equipped with driving equipment. This results in the performance of the oxy-acetylene welding plate cutting tool when cutting is not optimal and efforts need to be made to improve the cutting tool in order to facilitate work. The purpose of this research is to produce a construction design of an automatic oxy-acetylene welding plate cutting tool. and can determine the suitability of mechanical components with the arduino control system used. The working method of the tool design process includes work preparation, data collection and making the formulation of problems and objectives to be achieved. Literature study by looking for articles, which are updated to produce solutions to existing problems. Making component and assembly designs and simulations by making calculations and uses on the mechanical construction and control systems used. Using the application of the ZW3D licensed computer aid design program, this research created a design for oxy-acetylene welding plate cutting tools by combining oxy-acetylene welding with stepper motors driven by Arduino control. Producing automatic motion with x and y axes, so that it can facilitate cutting work. The size of the designed tool is 700 mm x 700 mm x 800 mm. From the calculation, the maximum torque required by the plasma cutting table is 0.218 Nm, and the maximum power is 6.845 Watt. The motor chosen is a Nema23 stepper motor because the price is relatively cheap and in accordance with the calculation specifications. Lead Screw is used as a converter of rotary motion from stepper motor into linear motion, with specifications used with diameter = 8 mm, length = 500 mm and pitch = 2 mm.

Abstract

Corn is the main food after rice, corn has the same nutritional value of protein, carbohydrates, and calories as rice. In everyday life, corn, in addition to being used as a food ingredient, can also be used as an industrial raw material and animal feed. But in the processing process, there are still difficulties if done manually because it takes a long time to shell corn kernels before being processed into corn-based foods. Therefore, a tool is needed to support the availability of corn quickly and support corn productivity. So, the author designed a corn sheller machine that can increase time efficiency. From the results of the design of the components used in the corn sheller machine, the diameter of the shaft used was at least 28 mm, the v-belt used was typed A with a length of 40 inches totaling 2 pieces, a drive pulley with a diameter of 2 inches, a pulley that was driven by 6 inches in diameter, the key used were 8mm x 7mm x 18mm, and used a gasoline engine with a power of 5.5 Hp. After the shelling test obtained capacity 360 kg per hour.

Abstract

In the transmission box of the car used snap bearing that hold by a snap ring, There was a difficulty to remove this bearing from body of the box because the bearing just stick the head out about 2.5 mm include the lib of snap groove. The process to take out bearing more difficult if bearing have used for along time, because bearing was sticky hard to the body and axis. Occasionally the tool to take out bearing from the body use tracker with two plate system. The plate clamp bearing at two side and pull out by two bolt at each plate, and the pulling often unbalance and that cause bearing at an angle and it make the-process more difficult. Some time cause bearing is broken end tip or point of bolt destroyer the body of transmission box because tip of bolt rest on body. So that we troy to make a trekker with split pipe pulling. Pulling doing by the hook at inside of split pipe. 5o the split pipe can hook all round of the bearing groove. Split pipe joint by a pipe nut with pulling bolt inside. The bolt will rest on center of axis, so the bearing can take out balance because the pulling done exactly at the center of bearing, and bearing come out easily and it is not damage the body of transmission box.

Abstract

Amount of resident of Indonesia progressively mount and it is of course require construction material for the requirement of its housing. Construction material which is partly produced by small industry or home industry. One of the production construction materials is brick. At the moment requirement to brick product very is mounting, for that need the existence of support in the form of availability of a machine able to improve productivity in line with make-up of its requirement. System of extrusion which is used in machine printer of brick can improve small industrial productivity brick to requirement of construction material market.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries which has high intensity solar radiation. This is very useful in term to exploite solar radiation for drying gambir processes. In Indonesia many people in west Sumatra worked gambir. More than 80 % produce gambir in Indonesia came from west Sumatra. In generally gambir can produce from until 1,5 year old depend on grow up level. Harvest can do it cutting branch-branch and leave (not more old and not more young) with knife or to harvest cut longer is 40-60 cm from beginner, it means new sprout should be in arm-pit branch can good grow up. Cutting and to harvest leave must do it in the morning 8.00 until 12.00, if can get soft atmosphere can enough to harvest branch all leave after 12.00 that can produce and qualities of gambir is low continued step is to boiled leave, to press leave, to sediment sticky plant-sap, to sifting plant-sap, to printed matter and to dry.

Abstract

Recently, development of Rapid Prototyping technique refers to Rapid Tooling (RT) application. Unfortunately, considering the limitation of technology available and suitable material, the research activities are respectively stagnating on improvement the method using building tool with recent technology and material. However, the problem being faced by researchers are not only limitation pre-mentioned above but also due to difficulties to gain tool with high part qualities. Therefore, in this present research, the part qualities especially surface finish would become primary consideration. Moreover, the obstacles in gaining the part with high surface finish on RP technology is the staircase effect, which is influenced by orientation angle. So, to reach the aim of research in observing the orientation angle for which part would have good surface finish, the orientation angle will be varied. The result shows that surface roughness of SLA built on 0 and 11,25 considerably have good impact on surface finish of the part building directly from Rapid Prototyping machine.

Abstract

One of the effort to lessen worn-out of tool machine is used by spraying coolant (mixture water and oil). Beside that dilution of coolant also function to slow down the rate of corrosion. But practically often arise damage ahead of schedule, so that old age to wear appliance become shorter. This research was conducted to dilution of coolant made with mixture irrigate faucet with oil and pure water mixture (aquades) with oil, were in the reality obtained that dilution of coolant aqueous of quicker faucet of its process of him from at using pure water. This matter was caused by pregnant faucet water of metal minerals able to form salt when mixed with oil, so that will quicken rustiness process. Later; Then for the variation of different composition in the reality more and more oil longer process rustiness happened. The corrosion at tool machine during the time was caused usage of faucet water to make dilution of coolant and also composition making of dilution of coolant imprecise.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries which has high intensity solar radiation. This is very useful in term to exploite solar radiation for drying processes. However, most drying processes are done naturally. This method has many constraints. By improvement of solar collector technology, the drying processes could be done more better. Unfortunately, most solar collectors still have many limitation due to generating high output temperature. Therefore, in this present study, the solar collector is tried to optimizing by enlarging area of frontal surface of solar radiation and increasing rate of air flow out in term to maximize the drying processes. Result shows that by flowing the air constantly (0, 122 m3/s) on 1 m2 surface area will generate output temperatur to approximately 90,2 oC
