Abstract

Water turbine is a tool to convert the potential energy of water into mechanical energy, this mechanical energy is then converted into electrical energy by a generator. Crossflow turbines are radial, small pressurized turbines with tangential injection from fan rotation with a horizontal shaft. The flow of water flows through the pipe entrance, and is arranged by a propeller and into the turbine fan rotation. After the water passes through the turbine fan rotation, the water is at the opposite fan rotation, thus providing additional efficiency. Finally, water flows from the casing either freely or through a tube under the turbine so that it rotates and turns the generator so it can produce electricity. Maintenance of PLTMH is carried out namely preventive maintenance such as; cleaning, lubrication and periodic checks. Maintenance corrections are carried out with the aim of being able to maintain the PLTMH component. Predictive maintenance of a treatment carried out in accordance with the conditions of the PLTMH and predicting damage that will occur in PLTMH

Abstract

The pump is a device that can lift water from a lower height to a higher place, but because there are many pumps in the market that use electricity as a power plant and the selling price is quite high for rural communities, an appropriate pump is needed and cheap. Hydram pump is one alternative, where the workings of this tool can raise the water to a higher place with energy or power that comes from the water itself. Making Hydram pumps itself is relatively inexpensive, simple and durable. Hydram pumps are very popular because they work without using energy, so it is suitable for use in villages that do not have electricity. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the height of the incoming water and the diameter of the outlet pipe on the height of the outlet water at the hydram pump. In this study the height of the incoming water was varied as high as 0.5m, 1m and 1.5m while the diameter of the aoutlaet pipe was varied by 0.5inc, ¾ inc and 1 inc. From this experiment it was found that the height of the incoming water and the diameter of the outlet pipe significantly influence the height of the outgoing water, of the two factors most influential on the height of the outgoing water is the height of the incoming water

Abstract

This 2019 DIPA Grand’s research designed and fabricated the size of hydraulic ram (hydram) pump utilized in Pakandangan, Padang Pariaman Regency. There is a water source in this area which has not been functioned adequately to irrigate the paddy field of 10 hectares due to the location of the paddy field which is higher than the water source. However, the use of designed hydram pump has no been maximized as the pump’s optimal performance was not determined yet. Therefore, a hydram pump was designed by varying the load of waste valve in the weight of 400 g, 600 g, 800 g, 1,000 g, and 1,200 gr. It was also varied in the volume of the chamber when the pump operated which were 4.86 lt, 5.76 lt, 6.48 lt, 7.29 lt, and 8.1lt. The height (Hd) of the inlet pipe was 1 m, and the lift height (Hs) of the outlet pipe was 5 m. The results obtained from Pump performance increases with increasing cylinder volume. The increase in the load of the exhaust valve volume of the tube remains a significant decrease. Hydram pump performance occurs at a load of 400 g with a tube volume of 8.1 l with an efficiency of 53%

Abstract

Energy is needed in mobilizing a mechanism both electric energy and energy derived from fossils. Hydram pump is a device to raise water from a low place to a high place by utilizing water impacts without using renewable energy. In Pakandangan, Padang Pariaman Regency, there is a water source that cannot be utilized to flow through the rice fields around 10 Ha. Because the rice fields are higher with water sources. The methodology is to survey the location and design the dimensions of the hydram pump. The results obtained head data height of incoming water is 2.5 meters, the height of water lift to the shelter is 7 meters the flow of water entering the pump is 25 lt / sec. The dimensions of the pump are the result of the design of a hydram 1 size with an inside diameter of 2 inches

Abstract

The increasing economic growth of the Indonesian people has implications for the number of vehicle ownership, especially cars. However, this increase is not matched by public understanding of the need for maintenance of the engine cooling system. One way that can be done is to use radiator coolant to maintain the cooling system so that engine performance remains in optimal condition. The purpose of this study was to determine and compare the working temperature of the engine when using several types of radiator coolant. This research uses an experimental approach research method. The test was carried out at 750 RPM, 1500 RPM, 3000 RPM and using a coolant containing a mixture of water with ethylene glycol 0%, 30%, 50% and 80%. In the calculation, it is found that the working temperature of the Toyota Avanza 1.5 M/T car engine is very good using a mixture of water and ethylene glycol 50%, namely with an average engine working temperature of 94.8℃, then a mixture of water and ethylene glycol 30%, namely with an average temperature engine working 96.3℃, a mixture of water and ethylene glycol 80%, with an average working temperature of 98.6℃ engine and a mixture of water and ethylene glycol 0%, with an average working temperature of 101.5℃

Abstract

SMAW 2F welding training has been carried out at the Politeknik Negeri Padang (PNP) for youth from the Lambung Bukit sub-district, Pauh sub-district, Padang city in order to carry out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The SMAW 2F welding workshop was supported by the head of the Community Empowerment Agency (BPM) and Kelurahan because the community had been waiting for this activity for a long time. High school graduates in Lambung Bukit sub-district who do not yet have adequate skills to be able to compete in filling employment opportunities. With current technological developments, especially in the field of information technology, Lambung Bukit sub-district has experienced extraordinary development, due to the assimilation between the natives and the newcomers. On the other hand, population growth must also be followed by an increase in living facilities. To harmonize the progress of the two fields with the capabilities of human resources, various training and skills are needed, one of which is skills training in the field of electric welding. SMAW 2F electric welding training is currently very much needed to fill the shortage of labor in the welding field. After it was agreed with Kelurahan the PNP service team held a 4-day training which was attended by 30 Lambung Bukit youths at the Padang State Polytechnic Mechanical Engineering workshop. The results obtained showed that Lambung Bukit youth were able to perform SMAW electric welding using the 2F method well according to recognized welding standards. With the results obtained, all training participants received a SMAW 2F welding certificate from the Politeknik Negeri Padang. The Lambung Bukit community hopes that this kind of training can be carried out continuously because many young people want to improve their competencies which can be a provision in opening entrepreneurship and filing available job opportunities.

Abstract

Begel or sekang is a longitudinal reinforcing ring to hold the shear stress that occurs in a concrete column or pillar, the putel is placed so that each longitudinal reinforcement is held so as not to bend out. So far, begel are made by sticking a shaft iron into a wood and then begel the iron manually, until it is obtained as needed. Traditional bending tools like this are inefficient because they require more energy to bend them and cannot be carried. Therefore it was designed and made PORTABLE BEGEL MAKING BENDING TOOLS. To test the speed of this tool compared with traditional bending tools. From the results of statistical tests it was concluded that the portable buckle making buckle tool is faster than the traditional buckling tool. This portable buckling device is designed more simply so that it can be carried anywhere and is easily made by construction workers.

Abstract

One of the effort to lessen worn-out of tool machine is used by spraying coolant (mixture water and oil). Beside that dilution of coolant also function to slow down the rate of corrosion. But practically often arise damage ahead of schedule, so that old age to wear appliance become shorter. This research was conducted to dilution of coolant made with mixture irrigate faucet with oil and pure water mixture (aquades) with oil, were in the reality obtained that dilution of coolant aqueous of quicker faucet of its process of him from at using pure water. This matter was caused by pregnant faucet water of metal minerals able to form salt when mixed with oil, so that will quicken rustiness process. Later; Then for the variation of different composition in the reality more and more oil longer process rustiness happened. The corrosion at tool machine during the time was caused usage of faucet water to make dilution of coolant and also composition making of dilution of coolant imprecise.

Abstract

Utilization of electrical energy has been applied in almost all fields of life. One of them is the use of electricity to repel plantation pests. In the hills of Batu Busuk, around the Padang Karuah River, Kel Lambung Bukit, Kec. Pauh, Padang is one of the communities that has implemented the application. The people who are gardening there have worked together in making a Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH) type waterwheel with a power of 1 kW with the current condition has been damaged and can not be used anymore. Seeing the potential of water owned according to the results of the field survey with a flowrate of 100 L / s and a head of 5 m, the use of crossflow turbines is one type of turbine that is suitable for replacing a windmill that has been damaged with a power generated of 3.7 kW. The crossflow turbine has an outer diameter of runner (D1) 0.3 m, runner width (L) 0.2 m and the number of blades (z) 28 pieces. With the use of the crossflow turbine, the potential of water will be maximally utilized.

Abstract

Proses penetasan telur unggas merupakan salah satu proses penting dalam budidaya peternakan unggas. Proses ini harus dilakukan dengan cermat dan teliti agar hasil penetasan dapat memuaskan. Namun, proses penetasan telur secara manual membutuhkan waktu dan tenaga yang cukup banyak dan terkadang belum efisien, sehingga dibuat rancangan alat penetas telur unggas otomatis kapasitas 360 butir. Alat ini menggunakan sistem pengontrolan yang dinamakan automatic computer control incubator. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk merancang mesin penetas telur unggas otomatis yang digunakan untuk mempermudah dalam pengontrolan gerakan rak telur, suhu dan kelembaban udara. Proses perancangan dimulai dari survei lapangan untuk mengetahui kebutuhan alat yang akan dirancang dan kemudian dibuatlah desain dari mesin penetas telur unggas otomatis. Mesin ini berukuran 100 x 167 x 50 cm yang terdiri dari 6 (enam) buah rak untuk meletakkan telur unggas. Pada bagian atas mesin diletakkan kontroller inkubator untuk mengontrol secara otomatis pergerakan rak, suhu, dan kelembaban mesin
