Abstract

Substantially, the term progressive Muslim in Islamic discourse is not a new thing. Progressive Muslims are Muslims who have a forward and open mindset. There are three major missions carried out, such as justice, gender equality, and accepting plurality. The purpose of this study is to find the root cause of the problem of religious exclusivism and how the role of progressive Muslims in solving this problem. Because misunderstandings about the meaning of plurality can then give birth to an attitude of radicalism that endangers many people. As a result, Islam is interpreted as a religion that is hard and rigid because some people criticize it in a narrow and way. How should a progressive Muslim try to reconstruct his thinking in facing plurality according to Omid Safi? The researcher uses descriptive and interpretive methods to explain the problem of plurality and Omid Safi's theory is related to contemporary problems. This research is library research by utilizing reading sources such as books and journals. From the research, it is found that Omid Safi uses multiple critiques as a progressive Muslim thinking method. According to him, multiple criticism or double criticism is an attempt to criticize Western and Islamic thought. Constructive criticism is necessary. Not only criticizing the hegemony of the West, but progressive Muslims also need to be criticized if they display an attitude that tends to be rigid, dogmatic, and authoritarian towards plurality. Safi associates plurality with humanism and open knowledge. Seeing that humans have the same values justice is one of the elements that must be upheld. Safi defines plurality as a form that goes beyond tolerance (Beyond pluralism). According to him, there is still a distance between tolerance in accepting differences. Like a poison that can still be tolerated by the human body. Plurality is when we can say “we” even though we have different beliefs. In the end, the idea of plurality encourages us to be humanist and dynamic towards the times.

Abstract

Jeulamee was the nickname of dowry in Aceh, it was just that the term jeulamee had an exclusive meaning, that gold ‎is the only form of dowry that was traditionally recognized in Aceh. Another uniqueness was that gold was ‎measured by the size of the mayam. One mayam alone was equivalent to 3. 3 grams of gold. Jeulamee was a hot issue that repeatedly stuck out along with the holding of marriages in the community. When ‎it was heard that a marriage was about to took placed, the opinion of the jeulamee would followed him. The ‎screams of the youth in Aceh, “hana peng hana inong” (no money, no wife) seemed to voiced a cynical criticism ‎that only men with the title of financial freedom could marry. This studied aims to explained and analyze the ‎concept of jeulamee in Acehnese marriage from the perspective of Islamic Law. The typed of researched used was sociological legal researched, with a phenomenological approached and the data ‎analysis was descriptive-qualitative. Data was collected by used interview and observation techniques. The ‎results showed that the obligation of gold as a marriage dowry in Peunaron sub-district did not conflict with ‎Islamic Law, this was evidenced by the absence of the opinion of the four madhhab scholars who oblige and ‎forbid it, there was even a hadith of the prophet Muhammad SAW that allowed his companions to marry with a gold dowry. There were two arguments for the preservation of jeulamee, namely: first, materialistic idealist, that jeulamee was ‎a tradition that was created and had a good purpose, such as preventing divorce, motivating young people who ‎want to got married to worked hard, because wealth was a necessary provision to navigate life, and uplift and ‎glorify women; second, normative formalistic, that jeulamee was a law of agreement from the community ‎‎(becoming customary law) and did not deviate from the concept of dowry in Islam.

Abstract

Pandemic Covid-19 makes all activities experience the main paralysis in religious matters. One of them is a rule for keeping distance during prayer in an effort to break the chain of the Corona virus. Religious activities are required to be able to adjust government rules. If the Islamic community that lives in the environment is not free, it will not be able to religion and carry out full Islamic missions. In this context the Asghar Ali Engineer strongly criticizes the current era of Islamic theology which emphasizes more on metaphysical aspects rather than providing solutions in the practical life of Muslims. For Asghar Ali, the face of Islam now has two sides, namely Islam as a place to escape the trouble and Islam as a means of revolutionizing change. Asghar Ali said that if he wanted to make Islam a medium of revolution, there needs to be a liberation strategy which he calls the theology of Islamic liberation. This is done by reinterpretating the Qur'an through the analysis of "normative" and "contextual" aspects in order to obtain a new point of view. Based on a qualitative approach, this study found that during the Covid-19 outbreak there was a reinterpretation of religious diversity in Indonesia. Before the outbreak of Covid-19 Friday prayers by Muslims were understood mandatory without exception. But during the Covid-19 there was relief leaving Friday prayers. What also happened related to prayer in congregation. Previously, praying in congregation had to be a meeting, but because Covid-19, was allowed to be a distance during prayer in congregation.

Abstract

This article finds that fiqh has historical roots, where history has a functional relationship with ushul fiqh. what is referred to in terms of ushul fiqh with the causality of an event, namely asbāb al-nuzūl (chronological text of the verses of the Qur'an) and asbāb al-wurūd (chronological text of hadith). These two things have inspired the formation of civic fiqh that can be applied in non-Muslim countries. Because, Muslim minorities living in non-Muslim countries are very difficult to apply the teachings of Islam in a normal and comprehensive manner. Therefore, the application of civic fiqh has historical roots of the Prophet SAW and is in accordance with the historical process of its formation, namely: gradual, minimal burden, and no narrowness. The construction of civic fiqh for the Muslim minority is an emergency. That is, if one day the conditions are good and normal, then Islam must be carried out comprehensively. Islam has two eternal dimensions that always survive (tsawabit) and are flexible according to benefit (taghayyurat).

Abstract

Developing the relationships with students during teaching and learning was by the teaching method. As a result, teaching approaches made a significant contribution to teaching and learning activities. Learning examples that are not examples was one example of a media-based learning methodology. The media in learning was our problem in the teaching and learning process because the media was the component that will give an effect on student learning outcomes because learning messages can be delivered according to the learning objectives through media. To maximize learning and teaching effectiveness, pay attention to how learning messages were arranged so that students were engaged in learning. This research had two objectives: (1) How does the Examples-Non-Examples technique in fiqh at MI Salafiyah Syafi'iyah Sukorejo Banyuputih Situbondo work? (2) Can the Examples-Non-Examples technique be used to boost students' learning creativity in Fiqh at Salafiyah Syafi'iyah, Sukorejo Banyuputih, and Situbondo? The classroom action research approach was used with two cycles to get a good result. Before doing research utilizing the examples-without-examples technique, the researcher conducted an initial test (pre-test) in the pre-cycle, whereas in cycles I and 2, one meeting was held with a time allocation of 1 x 40 minutes. The research findings were acquired in four stages: planning, execution, observation, and reflection. For the findings: (1) The example-non-examples approach was successfully used. This can be observed in the percentage scores of research activities and student activities, which climbed each cycle after adopting the Example-Non-Examples technique in cycle I, which began at 66% and increased to 75%. Student participation in cycle II grew from 62% to 81%. (2) When the Examples-Non-Examples approach was used, student learning creativity rises. This appears in the pre-test, where the proportion of learning completion was 14%, it increased to 45% in the post-test cycle I, and 93% in the post-test cycle II.
