As had been cited from many sources, Palestinians and Israelis publicly stated strong comments and blamed each other over this incident. Abstract

Frankfurt School of Thought, which rooted in Marxism and Critical paradigm, provided many ways to interpret the meaning of communication. This school of thought is primarily based on the main tenets of Critical Theory, i.e. totality, consciousness, anomie, and critic. Some questions arise concerning the ontology, epistemology, and axiology dimensions of Frankfurt School of Thought. Ontology discussion concerning the nature of communication involved an intensive outlook of Giddens’s Structuration Theory. Epistemology involved a discussion with Gramscian concepts of hegemony. Meanwhile, the problem of axiology is best addressed in Habermas fashion of agent-structur-dialectics.

Abstract

Conflict theory is born as reaction toward structural functional approach for social change analysis. This theory gained its popularity in 1960s, rooted in Max Weber concept of power conflict and Karl Marx’ theses focused on economy conflict. This article emphasized Marx concept concerning social change which is frequently used in conflict argumentation. Although widely used for social analysis, Marx theory has weaknesses, too. Ritzer and Goodman described some critics toward Marxian approach: (1) failed to prove social revolution; (2) unable to comprehend capitalist system flexibilities; (3) too radical; (4) ideological-biased; and (5) unable to prove the success of Marxist-Communist states.

Abstract

The life of Prophet Muhammad inherited us with great values that become exemplar for society after him. Madinah Charter in the time of the Great Prophet was introduced as written rules to manage people life—through this Charter, pecially civil defense. Such norms are still relevant enough being applied in modern times. Freedom of the press in civil society translated not as absolute freedom. Censorship is still recognized in the form of norms, ethics, culture, religion, and custom-traditions among members of community. In effect, mass media in civil society aren’t free from social realities.
