Abstract

Tolotang or Towani Tolotang is a Hindu community found in South Sulawesi. This community is part of the Bugis ethnicity, but there are differences with Bugis in general, because it still maintains old beliefs. This belief is similar to the teachings influenced by Hinduism, which developed in the Indonesian archipelago, especially in the use of offerings in rituals. The mention of the Supreme Deity, Dewata Seuwae also bears a resemblance to the god Shiva in Hinduism, the terms Batara Guru, Sangiang or Sangeng Serri, pèrètiwi are deities contained in Hinduism. Although at the level of tradition, Tolotang is different from Bali and India, but in essence contains similarities. His recognition of being a Hindu is not solely to maintain the existence and recognition of the state, but also to use Hinduism as a "spirit" in developing and maintaining his "Tolotang". The differences in Tolotang's traditions and customs from Bali, India, and other areas that were once influenced by Hinduism were not to be polemic, because these differences were mostly on the "casing" level. Differences in customs and traditions are natural, given the Ashwalayana Grihyasuta Book also advocates this; there are various customs that apply in this world, both in the villages or in cities, all of which must be carried out in accordance with the generally accepted customs in the place. This study shows that there is a relationship between the teachings of Sanatana Dharma or Hinduism in Tolotang beliefs. The recognition of the Tolotang community as adherents of Sanatana Dharma is basically giving guidance to Towani Tolotang to better understand the teachings of its parent, namely Sanatana Dharma.

Abstract

Hindus are people who are very obedient to all rules, prohibitions and laws (adat-state). This is because Hindus have been educated by their environment and social culture, through prarem (catur dresta) and awig-awig where the community lives, especially for the Hindu community in Bali whose religious life is governed by Balinese Hindu customs and culture. The outbreak and development of the COVID-19 pandemic is a social fact that is quite shocking to the religious life of Hindus in Bali. This is not without reason, because the continued outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has something to do with the social activities or religious rituals of Hindus in Bali, which are usually held in groups in one social community, starting from the sekaa, dadia and traditional village levels. In conclusion, Balinese Hindus must obey all orders including Hindu dogmas, government calls to implement dogmas and comply with various government programs such as social distancing, large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) or whatever form of prohibitions and recommendations must be carried out properly. This is so that Hindus in Bali can reorganize their lives to become more orderly (paradigm of social facts).

Abstract

Mathematics for early childhood is actually a fun activity. Early childhood needs to play activities using concrete objects and move towards more abstract things gradually in order to understand mathematics. Although mathematics for early childhood is more about numbers, early childhood also needs to understand other concepts such as geometry and measurement. These math concepts are learned by children through play activities. These activities encourage children's logical thinking activities such as matching, comparing, classifying, differentiating, measuring, sorting, and checking for certain patterns. Therefore, early childhood has been doing mathematics since childhood. This paper will discuss (1) how mathematical abilities are for early childhood, (2) early childhood math play activities, and (3) what kinds of games can be applied in facilitating children's learning about early math concepts. Most math games for children use concrete and semi-abstract media such as pictures. The math games offered in this paper are only a few examples that have been done by kindergarten teachers or researchers in Indonesia.

Abstract

As the center of culture, the Balinese language acts as a civilization builder. Building a civilization is synonymous with building humans, which includes building ethics and aesthetics. As cultured creatures, humans are very concerned about the development of ethics and aesthetics properly for the existence of human civilization itself. Balinese language in this case will accommodate the development of ethics and aesthetics, seen from the Balinese language used as a means of communication that is polite and polite as well as the existence of aesthetic diction in social life in society. There are two important things that will be discussed in this paper, namely: How is the Balinese language in the development of ethical knowledge? and how is the Balinese language in the development of aesthetic knowledge? Based on a glimpse of the background of the Balinese language when it is associated with ethics and aesthetics, the results of the discussion can be presented as described below. (1) Balinese language as a developer of ethical knowledge, which can be used in social behavior, as seen from the words that have the value of respect; either to respect the interlocutor or to humiliate the speaker (basa Bali alus singgih, basa Bali alus sor, basa Bali alus madya, and basa Bali alus mider). (2) Balinese language as a developer of aesthetic knowledge, which can be used in art, so that human life will be happier because it can be entertained from the existence of Balinese language that contains beauty (mabebasan tradition in pesantian, modern Balinese poetry, Balinese songs as a form of musicalization of Balinese poetry, novels and short stories containing intrinsic and extrinsic beauty values, and Balinese language in the art of calligraphy/rerajahan).
