Abstract

Hospice care is widely used in nursing practice; however, its meaning remains unclear and is often used interchangeably with palliative and end-of-life care, resulting in conceptual ambiguity. This study aimed to clarify the concept of hospice care in the context of nursing. Walker and Avant’s eight-step concept analysis approach was applied. A literature review was conducted using the keywords Hospice care AND Nursing across PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, and ProQuest databases, including English-language articles published between 2000 and 2025. The defining attributes of hospice care were identified as (1) comfort-focused, not curative care, (2) holistic care, and (3) support during the dying process. Antecedents included a diagnosis of terminal illness, prognosis of limited life expectancy, and the patient’s informed decision to forego curative treatment. Consequences were enhanced comfort and symptom control, improved quality of life for patients and families, and a peaceful and dignified death experience. This concept analysis provided conceptual clarity of hospice care in nursing and can guide nursing practice, education, and future research in end-of-life care.

Abstract

Sore nipples are injuries characterized by wounds, cracks, or gaps in the nipples, one of the problems often experienced by breastfeeding mothers and can cause discomfort to premature cessation of breastfeeding (Wirakhmi & Purnawan, 2021). One of the factors that plays a role in the occurrence of this condition is the mother's lack of understanding of the correct breastfeeding position and attachment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge about breastfeeding positions and attachments with the incidence of sore nipples. This research method uses an analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 50 breastfeeding mothers selected through purposive sampling techniques according to the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using a questionnaire to assess the level of knowledge and direct observation of the incidence of sore nipples. Data analysis was carried out using the chi-square test to see the relationship between variables. The results of the statistical test showed that most respondents had a high level of knowledge regarding the correct breastfeeding position and attachment, indicating a significant relationship between the mother's level of knowledge and the incidence of sore nipples (p < 0.021). These findings suggest that the majority of respondents understand the importance of proper breastfeeding techniques, which contributes to the prevention of sore nipples. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the level of mother's knowledge about breastfeeding position and attachment with the incidence of sore nipples. Therefore, more intensive education is needed regarding the correct breastfeeding technique to prevent sore nipples and support the success of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Nutritional status is an indication of how well the body uses and absorbs nutrients to meet its needs. Malnutrition will cause growth retardation in children. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between nutritional status and the development of children aged 24-36 months in the working area of the Jatijajar Community Health Center in Depok City. This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample size was 86 respondents using purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through interviews using the Developmental Screening Questionnaire (KPSP) and nutritional status measurements. The results of this study show that children with normal nutritional status, which is the majority of children (76.7% or 66 respondents), have appropriate development, while children with thin nutritional status, which is the majority of children (5.8% or 5 respondents), have questionable development. The Spearman rank correlation test results obtained a P-value of 0.009, which means that Ha is accepted. This study concluded that there is a significant relationship between nutritional status and the development of children aged 24-36 months in the working area of the Jatijajar Community Health Center in Depok City. Health institutions can provide monthly training programs for health workers on child development stimulation, hold educational programs for new parents on the importance of healthy eating patterns, and conduct monthly nutritional status checks.

Abstract

Family caregivers who care for older people often face long-term physical, psychological, social, and economic pressures. This condition can increase stress levels and potentially trigger burnout. This study aims to analyze the relationship between stress levels and burnout in elderly family caregivers. The study used a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach and stratified random sampling. A total of 222 elderly family caregivers in Village X, Bogor City, were involved as respondents. Stress levels were measured using the Kingston Caregiver Stress Scale, while burnout was measured using the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Data analysis was performed univariately using descriptive statistics and bivariately using the chi-square test. The results showed that family caregivers had an average age of 39.24 years, the majority were female (75.2%), had a high school education (34.2%), were married (65.8%), had no income (43.7%), and had been in the caregiving role for more than five years (55.0%). The chi-square test showed a significant association between stress levels and burnout incidence among elderly family caregivers (p = 0.001). These findings suggest the need for family-based nursing interventions in the community that focus on early detection of stress and on strengthening coping strategies to prevent burnout among elderly family caregivers.

Abstract

Nutritional status plays a crucial role in supporting learning concentration among adolescents aged 15–18 years, as evidenced by the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) showing 7–8% underweight, 12.1% overweight, and 4.1% obese cases, reflecting a double burden of malnutrition that may disrupt learning processes; therefore, the MBG (Free Nutritious Meal) program is designed to improve students' nutritional status to enhance concentration and human resource quality. This study examined the relationship between MBG program participation and nutritional status on learning concentration in 94 students at SMA Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Jakarta using a cross-sectional design with stratified sampling, where the Chi-Square test indicated a significant association for MBG participation (p=0.026) and Fisher's Exact test for nutritional status (p=0.001). The main conclusion is a significant relationship between both factors and learning concentration, with recommendations for future research to employ more comprehensive instruments for accurate MBG participation measurement to ensure result objectivity.

Abstract

Pain in premature infants is often not optimally managed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Nurses play a central role in pain assessment and management, making their knowledge and attitudes crucial factors in the success of neonatal pain management. This study aimed to analyze the knowledge and attitudes of NICU nurses regarding pain management in premature infants. The study used a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 22 NICU nurses was selected through total sampling from several hospitals in Medan City. Data were collected using a knowledge and attitude questionnaire regarding pain management in premature infants, then analyzed descriptively using frequency distributions and percentages. The study found that most respondents had nursing education and were in the adult age group. The majority of nurses' knowledge level was in the sufficient category, with the lowest scores being on the use of pain assessment scales and non-pharmacological interventions. Nurses' attitudes were generally positive, indicating good support for the importance of pain management in premature infants. NICU nurses already have positive attitudes toward pain management, but their knowledge still needs to be improved to ensure more evidence-based practice. Structured training, the implementation of standardized pain scales, and regular evaluation are needed to improve the quality of neonatal nursing care.

Abstract

Early marriage remains a serious challenge in many countries, including Indonesia, with a relatively high prevalence and multidimensional impacts on adolescent life. This phenomenon implies low marital readiness among adolescents across educational, economic, reproductive health, psychological, and social dimensions. This study aims to evaluate marital readiness among early-married adolescents through a systematic literature review. A literature search was conducted using the Population, Concept, Context (PCC) approach across PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and EBSCOhost databases, using the keywords "adolescent", "marital readiness", and "early marriage". The article selection process was visualized using a PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) flow diagram, illustrating the stages of identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion in a systematic and transparent manner. Articles published between 2020 and 2025 were selected based on inclusion criteria, resulting in nine articles that were analyzed using the JBI Critical Appraisal tool. The review findings indicate that early marriage negatively affects nearly all dimensions of marital readiness. Adolescents who marry early are more vulnerable to school dropout, economic insecurity, reproductive complications, psychological issues such as depression and stress, as well as limitations in social relationships and household decision-making. These findings affirm that marital readiness is a multidimensional concept requiring holistic intervention. Future research is recommended to employ longitudinal designs, develop culturally contextualized marital readiness instruments suited to the Indonesian context, and include male adolescents to provide a more comprehensive picture.

Abstract

A patient safety culture is a shared set of values that help achieve the core goal of patient safety. A nurse's performance in improving patient safety is influenced by many factors. One of them is work and staffing commitment. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the dimensions of work attachment and nurse staffing and patient safety culture. The method used is quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used was a total sample of 59 respondents. Data analysis with the chi-square test. The results of this study provide an overview of the work attachment of 38 low-category nurses (67.2%). The dimension of the nursing profession in the room was less than 30 respondents (50.8%). The description of the patient safety culture shows 52.5% in the good category. There was a significant relationship between nurse work engagement (p-value = 0.003) and staffing dimension (p-value = 0.001) with patient safety culture. High work commitment and adequate nursing staff and patient safety culture can improve nurse performance on an ongoing basis.
