Abstract

The aim in the study is describing imperative sentence pattern of Kaili language. The method which is appliedare field reseach and descriptive method. The methods are applied in order researcher can observe, listen,note down, and record the imperative sentence of Kaili Language. Descriptive method is applied according tothe data of the speakers. The result of analysis indicates that there are ten imperative sentence pattern of KailiLanguage : (1) imperative sentence pattern of order, (2) imperative sentence pattern of request, (3) imperativesentence pattern of prohibition, (4) imperative sentence pattern of suggestion, (5) imperative sentence patternof request, (6) imperative sentence pattern of consideration, (7) imperative sentence pattern of coercion, (8)imperative sentence pattern of persuasion (9) imperative sentence pattern of demand, and (10) imperative sentence pattern of insistence.

Abstract

The poem “Angin Magrib Pasar Kembang” written by Syaifuddin Gani has high religiosity. This poem gives akind of contemplation regarding the earth that is far from being essential. Therefore, this paper aims to revealthe inherent religiosity by using a qualitative method. The theory applied based of Jonathan Cullers thought.The analysis showed that this poem contains many metaphors about the journey of human life that is full withvarious temptations and punishments. The trip is essentially leading to a single point namely death. Death is the end of mortal life as the beginning of the immortal life.

Abstract

Variety of scientific language demand obedience in the use of linguistic rules, including writing of articles inscientific journals. The problem of this study was the error in the writing of Indonesian word in Scientific andTechnology Journals. Based on these problems, this study revealed the errors in the writing of Indonesian wordin Scientific and Technology journals and also to fix these errors. The research used library research with analiticdescriptive technique to analyzed the data. Then, the result presented in descriptive method. Based on the results of the discussion found spelling method. The result shows, there are some errors in words writing, such as words writing and foreign expressions, absorption elements, prepositions, affixes words, and combined attached form.

Abstract

Prohibition is one of local wisdom in traditional society. It has close relation with culture that happens inthe society. Some local people have various kind of prohibitions, it can be same or different one to another.That variation is the characteristic of each place including prohibitions that live in the society, one of themis Dayak Halong. They apply how to arrange their environment wisely base on local wisdom in the form ofprohibition. Everything that has relation with local wisdom is obeyed by all of them in the form of prohibition customary law. Base on the explanation above the problem in this study is whether prohibitions are still live in the tradition of Dayak Halong society as the form of local wisdom that happens in that society. This studyuses descriptive qualitative method. This study will get a description about various kind of prohibitions ofenvironment base on local wisdom in Dayak Halong tradition society.

Abstract

AbstractThis study was conducted to know the acceptability of standard Indonesian vocabulary among teachers SMA/ SMK / MA as participant of socialization and test UKBI in Palu. The method used is descriptive method that done quantitatively. The data collection is done by using instruments in questionnaire form. The questionnaire consisted of questions related to personal data of respondents and nine pairs form standard Indonesianvocabulary. The nine forms of vocabulary can be specified into as absorptions of foreign languages whichconsist of three vocabularies, as morphological system consist of three vocabularies, and as the differentspelling forms consist of three vocabularies. The results of this study indicate that the ninth of standardIndonesian vocabulary there are four forms of vocabulary has not been accepted among teachers SMA / SMK/ MA as participant of socialization and test UKBI in Palu, such as salat, telanjur, komplet, dan mengebom.The reason of teachers choose vocabulary which not standardized (shalat, terlanjur, komplit, and membom)are they have not know language rules and their language use habit.

Abstract

Intertextual research is used to see the relationship between two texts, especially the literature that comes fromdifferent background of social and culture, but they have the same theme. However, intertextual research aboutKalimantan’s folklore has not been done yet. Therefore, by using analysis descriptive method and intertextualapproach, this article wants to explore the folklore of “Putri Junjung Buyah” in East Kalimantan and “PutriJunjung Buih” in South Kalimantan, reveal intertextual relationship, and explain article hypogram and thetransformation between these folklore. The result shows that there is a relationship between “Putri JunjungBuyah” and “Putri Junjung Buih”. This relationship exists on the story background, the appearance of a princess,the struggle of getting something, and the marriage. As article hypogram, “Putri Junjung Buih” is regarded as areference to the next folklore, “Putri Junjung Buyah”. “Putri Junjung Buyah” has been transformated in manyways, especially instrinsic elements, that are story background (setting, social, and culture) and the theme.

Abstract

Language choice is a common phenomena that occurs in multilingual societies. Indonesia people consist of various cultures, races, and ethnics and also various of languages which they used to communicated between their families and their societies. This research wants to find out the language choice of the Buginese ethnic infamily domain based on roles relation and education category in Donggala Regency. This research aims to (1)described the pattern language choice of the Buginese ethnic in family domain based on eduaction categoryand roles relation in Donggala Regency and (2) analyzed the factors language choice of the Buginense ethnicin family domain based on roles relation and education category in Donggala Regency. This research useda sociolinguistic approach method by quiestionnaire, interview, observation, recording technique, and thenanalyzed the data based on the percentage of language choice of the Buginese ethnic in family domain. Theresults showed that the Buginese ethnic in Donggala regency still dominant choose Bugis as a means ofcommunication in family domain based on roles relation and education category (82%), which is about 8%used Indonesian, 7% choose to mix Bugis and Indonesian, and only 3% used another languge, that is locallanguage, Dampal and Mandar.

Abstract

A primary issue in this study is a rule phonotactics in Muna language. This study aimed to describe the rulesphonotactics of syllable and word in Muna language. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitativemethod. The use of this method is intended to systematically and accurately describe the characteristics andproperties of natural language data Muna and relationship of phenomena in the data and resulting desriptionof actual data. Method applied is a method of data collection and methods refer to a conversation. Referto the method is done by listening to the use of language by tapping techniques, refer to the technical note,recording technique and technique of introspection. Furthermore, data analysis using a unified assessmentand distributional methods. The use of these techniques meant that the problems associated with the toolsstudied determinants that are beyond the language in question and which are in the languages concerned.Furthermore, this technique is conducted with the following steps: (1) making a prediction probability distribution of phonemes based on the number of phonemes in a language Muna, both in its level of syllables and words; and (2) looking for evidence of the existence of the distribution of data sources in order to obtainthe rules of substitution and permutation fonotatik with phonemes. The results showed that out of 200 inBM Swadesh vocabulary found as many as 56 or 28% said syllable pattern V and as many as 199 or 99.5%patterned silabe KV. Furthermore, the rules fonotatik words with vowels with vowels with 14 words or around56% collocation of V-V and not found as much as 11 or 44%; collocation of vowel-consonant there are 91 orabout 73% and is not found as many as 34 or 27% collocation of V-K; and consonants collocation with vowelsare 102 or as much as 82% collocation of K-V and not found as much as 23 or 18%.

Abstract

Literary works written by Budi Darma has its own peculiarities or characteristics when compared with theother literary works. This study examines a short story by Budi Darma entitled “Laki-Laki Pemanggul Goni”.The problem in this research is the meaning behind of laki-laki pemanggul goni in the short story. The purposeof research is to describe the meaning of laki-laki pemanggul goni in the short story “Laki-Laki PemanggulGoni”. The method in this study is descriptive analysis with semiotic theory. Based on semiotic analysis, themeaning of laki-laki pemanggul goni in the short story is representation of Karmain’s guilt that he had done in the past.

Abstract

This study is conducted to aim the description of cohesion and coherence which are transformed into (1)application of grammatical cohesion device, and (2) application of lexical cohesion. The research methods include (1) the stages of data provision, (2) the stages of data analysis, (3) the stage of data analysis presentation, The data provision is conducted by listening method and noting technique. The listening and noting results arethen classified by type of the cohesion. Analysis of the data by the distributional method with basic technique,that is divided element direct techniques, and advanced technique that is paraphrase. Presentation of the resultsis conducted by using informal methods. The results are 1) the grammatical cohesion are: a) reference: I, she/he, it, that, this; b) the conjunction of opposition, addition, causation, and period; b) substitution: nominal andclauses substitution; c) ellipsis: nominal ellipsis; and there is no lexical cohesion in the result.
