Abstract

Students at UAD can join various projects offered by their lecturers, including research, internships, assignments, and competitions. These opportunities are typically communicated through research workshops or WhatsApp groups. Currently, more lecturers are getting research projects that require students as technical members, but they need to be sure about the students' sufficient abilities. On the other hand, not all students receive this information, and project monitoring is often done informally via WhatsApp. All students should get projects so they can graduate from project management courses or internships. To address this, lecturers can help speed up the process of students getting projects by inviting students to join their projects. An application was proposed to streamline information dissemination, student selection, and project monitoring. The study employed the double diamond method—Discover, Define, Develop, and Deliver —to design the app's UI/UX prototype. Usability and user experience testing showed high success rates for both lecturer and student applications, with 91.81% and 84.54% respectively. The student app scored well on attraction (1.63), clarity (1.45), efficiency (1.70), accuracy (1.70), stimulation (1.95), and novelty (1.40). The lecturer app scored even higher on attraction (2.47), clarity (1.45), efficiency (2.25), accuracy (1.95), stimulation (2.65), and novelty (2.45).

Abstract

The rapid development of computer networks and data communications has significantly impacted all government sectors in Indonesia. The Madiun Regency Health Service relies on a web-based health reporting application, E-link Health Report, to manage health information data from community health centers. However, this application is vulnerable to cyber-attacks, necessitating enhanced security measures. To address this issue, the health service implemented a Virtual Private Network (VPN) using the Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) to bolster system security. The aim of this research is to analyze the effectiveness of the implemented VPN with PPTP protocol in enhancing network reliability and data transmission security. The Network Development Lifecycle (NDLC) method was employed to conduct this analysis, focusing on parameters such as network reliability and the ability to secure data transmission against cyber threats. The results demonstrate a significant improvement in both network reliability and data transmission security following the implementation of the VPN with PPTP protocol. This study provides a comprehensive comparison of network performance before and after the implementation, highlighting the effectiveness of VPNs in securing web-based health reporting applications.

Abstract

The advancement of information technology aimed to enhance efficiency in information management, including rapid and timely processing as well as accuracy of information. Resto Sampali (Sp) Kitchen frequently encountered challenges in manually recapitulating data due to the necessity of recording sales and purchases individually each day, stored in logbooks. This situation led to inefficient transaction management, resulting in a lack of information regarding product sales, customers, peak hours, and other crucial data essential for strategic decision-making. Furthermore, incomplete transaction records caused uncertainty in tracking income and expenditure flows, thereby increasing the risk of human error and fraud. Manual recording methods also jeopardized data integrity and validity. This research aimed to address these issues by constructing an Order and Payment Management Information System integrated within an Android-based Cashier Service, utilizing a qualitative approach and the waterfall system development method. Results from system testing via Blackbox Testing indicated that the system operated in accordance with the anticipated design, enhancing accuracy in transaction management, revenue, and payments, while delivering a more satisfying experience for customers and café owners.

Abstract

Hallyu or Korean wave refers to the phenomenon of South Korean values and culture spreading to other countries, ultimately influencing global culture. South Korean culture, such as K-pop music, dramas, films, fashion, food, and lifestyle, has gained popularity in Indonesia since 2002. Because South Korean culture influences many aspects of life in Indonesia, responses to this Korean wave are widely discussed in social media, especially through X (Twitter) ranging from positive sentiment to negative sentiment. To gain a more in-depth and detailed understanding of public opinion, a classification process was conducted on the social media platform X (Twitter) using a deep learning algorithm based on the CNN method. The results of this classification provide more accurate and informative insight into the attitudes, opinions, and reactions of the Indonesian people towards the influence of South Korean culture in this country. The research was conducted using 717,998 tweet data resulting in an accuracy of 79%.

Abstract

This study evaluates the usability of a Moodle-based online learning system at a university using the System Usability Scale (SUS). Introduced in 2019, the platform has been instrumental in facilitating access to educational resources, enhancing the distribution of course materials, and supporting academic activities through interactive features. The SUS was employed to gather subjective feedback from 120 student respondents, providing insights into the system's efficiency, effectiveness, and user satisfaction. Statistical analysis was performed using methods including the Shapiro-Wilk test to address the skewed distribution of the original dataset with a mean SUS score of 71.52 and a high standard deviation of 16.18, indicating varied user experiences. Analysis of sample means was also conducted to achieve a more stable estimate of usability, resulting in a mean of 71.51 with a significantly reduced standard deviation of 2.44, suggesting a more consistent assessment across users. The final SUS score placed the system in the 'C+' category according to the Sauro and Lewis grading scale, indicating that while usability is acceptable, substantial improvements are necessary.

Abstract

The learning and mastering of programming language syntax pose a significant challenge for non-computing students. Most teaching approaches and existing educational tools often fail to address this issue. Therefore, this paper introduces an interactive learning environment called PyLe, specifically designed for introductory programming in Python programming courses. We evaluated the effectiveness of PyLe on first-year students at North-West University in South Africa and the University of Yaoundé 1, Cameroon. Firstly, the study conducts an experiment to assess the effect of PyLe on the time taken to solve a problem and the response quality. Secondly, PyLe’s usability and its instructional value were evaluated by the students and the instructors, respectively. The results from post-test method and a quantitative survey indicate that PyLe improves students’ ability to learn and master program syntax and has a high usability rate. Moreover, feedback from students and teachers affirms PyLe’s potential to address programming syntax challenges for non-computing students. However, the analyses revealed no real relationship between the time taken to complete a task in PyLe and the quality of the solution. This study contributes to improving the teaching and learning of computer programming, which has been considered difficult for both computing and non-computing students.
