Abstract

Anemia prevention programs in pregnant women often involve the consumption of blood supplement tablets in pregnant women, and an understanding of the role of fathers and pregnant women in supporting adherence is essential to improve the effectiveness of such programs. In certain populations, such as pregnant women, anemia can have a serious impact on health and development. In pregnant women, anemia can increase the risk of premature birth, low birth weight, and maternal death. The aim of the study was to determine which factors of paternal and maternal control behaviors were correlated with maternal adherence to blood supplementation tablets. This research was conducted quantitatively with a cross-sectional approach. The sample included 214 married couples in Kediri City which was taken using random sampling technique in March 2024. Data were collected using a questionnaire that included questions on paternal and maternal control behaviors, compliance with blood supplementation tablet consumption. Univariate and bivariate were the two stages of data analysis, chi-square test was used for bivariate analysis. The results showed that paternal control behaviors (paternal knowledge, support) and maternal control behaviors (self-efficacy, attitudes, side effects) had values >0.05 which means there is no correlation with pregnant women's adherence to taking blood supplement tablets, while father's control variables (trust, father's attitude) and mother's control variables (media exposure, mother's knowledge) <0.05, which means there is a correlation with pregnant women's adherence to taking blood supplement tablets.his finding confirms that the role and control measures of fathers are critical to support pregnant women's adherence to taking blood tablets. Keyword: Adherence, Blood Supplementation Tablets, Control Behavior, Father, Pregnant Women

Abstract

Vocational High School (VHS) is an educational institution with various practical activities to equip students to master the competencies needed when working in the industrial world. Working in a practical workshop has various potential hazards, including the risk of experiencing work accidents, one of which is due to unsafe action. A preliminary survey based on the results of observations showed that out of 30 VHS students working in the practical workshop, 83.3% of them had unsafe actions such as not using personal protective equipment, as well as chatting and joking during the practical process. This study aims to determine the factors that influence unsafe action in the practical workshop of students of public vocational schools in Medan City. The study population was class XI students, totalling 164 students, with a sample size of 113 students selected by simple random sampling. This type of research is quantitative research with a cross-sectional design. The study was conducted in three Vocational Schools with mechanical engineering majors in Medan City: State Vocational School 2, State Vocational School 5, and State Vocational School 14. Data analysis was conducted univariately and bivariately, with simple and multivariate data, and with multiple logistic regression. The results showed that the majority of students had unsafe action (84.1%), as well as knowledge (60.2%) and supervision (61.1%). Supervision (p=0.012) had a relationship with unsafe action, while knowledge (p=0.143) and tools and equipment (p=0.121) did not show significant relationship. Students with poor supervision had 3.937 times (95% CI: 1.353-11.640) risk of unsafe action compared to those with good supervision. Schools are expected to increase supervision or responsibility as well as implement a reward and punishment system for students to reduce the occurrence of unsafe actions that can increase the risk of work accidents. Abstract

Stunting remains a significant public health issue in Indonesia, particularly in Medan City. Poor sanitation has been identified as one of the key contributing factors to stunting. This study aims to analyze the relationship between community-based total sanitation and stunting incidence in Medan City. The research is a comparative study with a case-control design. It was conducted in five sub-districts with high stunting rates among the fourteen sub-districts in Medan City that have received community-based total sanitation interventions. The study was carried out from November 2023 to February 2024. The study population included all mothers with children age 0-59 months living in sub-districts that received community-based total sanitation interventions. There were 165 participants in the stunting and 49,676 in the not stunting. The sample size was calculated using the Lemeshow formula, resulting in 50 mothers for the stunting group. The not stunting group was matched to the case group in a 1:1 ratio, making the total sample size 100 mothers. Purposive sampling was used to select participants who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software version 27, employing the chi-square test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed that three pillars of community-based total sanitation were significantly related to stunting incidence: relationship between handwashing with soap and stunting incidence was significant (p=0.005; OR=4.125), relationship between household Latrine and stunting incidence was significant (p=0.001; OR=7.211), and relationship between household solid waste management and stunting incidence was significant (p=0.027; OR=2.681). The overall relationship between community-based total sanitation and stunting incidence was significant (p=0.015; OR=6.769). Recommendations for the Health Department and Community Health Centers in Medan City include enhancing the achievement of the five STBM pillars within the community through health promotion activities. Abstract

Colorectal tumours pose a significant global health issue, including in Indonesia. The development of colorectal polyps and tumours involves various risk factors such as poor lifestyle choices, male gender, and advancing age. This study aims to determine the characteristics of patients with colorectal polyps and tumours, their histopathological features, and the most common gender and age group for each histopathological feature. The study was conducted at Sumber Waras Hospital, implementing a descriptive cross-sectional approach with retrospective data of 113 patients with colorectal polyps and tumours from 2015-2023. This study's findings indicate that most patients were males (58.4%), with the highest number in the 61-70 age group (29.2%). Among non-neoplastic lesions, inflammatory polyp was the most prevalent histopathological finding (18.3%), whereas adenocarcinoma (NOS) was the most common feature among all neoplastic lesions (53.3%). All non-neoplastic lesions were predominantly found in males. Neoplastic lesions such as adenocarcinoma (NOS), mucinous adenocarcinoma, neuroendocrine tumours, and lymphoma were also more prevalent in males. In contrast, adenoma, signet ring, and squamous cell carcinoma were more frequently found in females. Non-neoplastic lesions such as hamartoma were most common in the 11-20 age group, while hyperplastic and inflammatory polyps were prevalent in the 61-70 age group. Neoplastic lesions such as adenoma were most prevalent in the 61-70 and 71-80 age groups; mucinous adenocarcinoma and lymphoma in the 51-60 age group; adenocarcinoma (NOS), squamous cell carcinoma, and neuroendocrine tumours in the 61-70 age group; as well as signet ring cell carcinoma in the 71-80 age group. To reduce the prevalence of colorectal polyps and tumours, it may be crucial to consider performing histopathological examinations for a thorough evaluation, given their wide variety that requires different diagnostic and treatment strategies.
