This article focuses on finding the types of flouting maxim in the Friends film by all characters, especially in season 1, episodes 1-10. This research aims to find the types of flouting maxim and the reasons behind the characters flouted the maxim based on the context of the situation. This topic is part of pragmatics which studies whether humans as social beings who always interact can be cooperative and able to make the appropriate contribution as expected with the aim of creating quality communication, in accordance with the portion, relevant, and assuredly clear. The data were analyzed using the theory of Grice (1975) in classifying the types of flouting maxims that appear in the film and the analysis will be supported with the context of situation theory by Halliday (1985). This article uses qualitative methods and data collection using the observation method. Then as a result, 49 data flouting the maxim were identified in this movie. The data found represent all types of flouting maxim (Grice). However, the type of flouting maxim that most found is flouting maxim of relation. The study deals with improving students’ vocabulary mastery through watching English films. The formulations of the problem are (1)Is watching English films effective in increasing students’ vocabulary? (2) What English film can improve students’ vocabulary?. The purpose of the study is (1) to find out the effectiveness of watching English film can increase students’ vocabulary. (2) to know kind of English film can improve students’ vocabulary. The sample of this research is forty students from the second yearsstudents of SMA Ksatria Medan. The technique of the collecting of the data by using questionare and test. This research began with students who had problems in understanding descriptive reading material. Overcoming students' difficulties in understanding descriptive reading by applying the reciprocal teacing method. The objectives of this research were 1) to determine the scenario and implementation of learning descriptive text for reading comprehension using reciprocal methods, 2). To find out the responses of teachers and students on learning comprehension of reading descriptive texts using reciprocal methods, 3). Identifying student difficulties in learning Reading Comprehension using the reciprocal method. This research uses a qualitative method, the instruments used in this study are observation, questionnaires, interviews. The research results obtained that: 1) the planning and application of reciprocal methods on descriptive text material run well to provoke student to become an active on learning process. 2) the teacher's gave a good response to the scenario and implementation on learning reading descriptive text using reciprocal techniques. 3) the students have difficulty on finding vocabulary in descriptive text. This research expects to untangle online learning outcomes on students' speaking skill achievement during the pandemic. The method employed in this research was secondary data collection because it was reasonable in this present situation and as an effort to diminish the spread of COVID-19. The number of subjects of the research was seven articles that analyzed secondary students. The research provides information related to the students' speaking skills achievement through online learning. This study reveals that most students decrease learning speaking skills through online learning mode during pandemic COVID-19. The researchers discovered a few problems during the learning process, such as; decreasing pronunciation, lack of seriousness, and becoming less enthusiastic about learning to speak English. Study while working has several effects in advanced higher education. Working and studying at the same time in university can be as reward and stressful. Thus, language learning strategies for working students and non-working students play an important role in the effectiveness and efficiency of English language learning. The researchers examined whether or not there is significant differences of English language learning strategies used by working and non-working students. Quantitative descriptive study was used to describe the findings. The result showed that working students applied memory strategies dominantly. The number average mean score of memory strategy was 4.02 in the category of high, where compensation learning strategies was 2.77 that categorized the lowest mean average. Non-working students applied all learning strategies at the medium level category. The highest number of mean average of language learning strategies was cognitive strategies with the average mean was 3.11. Total number mean average of metacognitive and affective strategies was the same 2.79. Compensation, memory, and social strategy were also in the medium category with different total numbers average. The mean average of compensation strategies was 3.01, memory strategy was 2.93, and social strategy was 2.75. Keywords: English Language, Learning Strategy, Status, Category, Undergraduate

Assessing writing is one of the most difficult case in language test, because good writing is so sought out by master of the higher education and plenty of establisments are require. The teachers must spend a whole lot of time to ensuring that their writing evaluation are accurate and reliable. This study is primarily based totally at the desires to recognize the students’ writing ability in a narrative text of the fourth semester students of English Education by using quantitative method with a retrospective evaluation research. The population of the study was 122 students and the sample elected were 40 students. Writing test is used for the instrument of this study, which distributed as online by using Google Form. The data were analyzed by Ms. Excel and SPSS, the result confirmed that the students have good writing ability in a narrative text. The mean score achieved was 81.31. It was in the good category. But, there were 3 students categorized into poor and fair. This result is in line with the assessing students’ ability in a narrative text by using scoring rubric that available in this study. To improve the quality of education, teachers and stakeholders need to innovate education. In carrying out innovation, teachers can integrate technology as a tool for innovation in learning. IPusnas as a medium for learning to read English can help teachers and students improve their reading comprehension. This research was conducted to determine students' experiences with improving reading comprehension in English through the iPusnas application. Students' experience of being kidnapped through a humanistic approach with interview techniques and questionnaires was carried out in the eleventh grade at SMK Insan Tazakka Cikampek. The study results indicate that iPusnas can help teachers innovate to improve student learning quality. In addition, student activity and student learning performance increased. In this era of the Covid-19 pandemic, online-based learning is the best solution for the learning process in education. This study aims to describe students' perceptions of online learning at the junior high school level. This research uses descriptive qualitative research method. The population in this study were 18 junior high school students and a sample of 12 students was obtained from students who filled out a questionnaire randomly. The 12 students consisted of 9 female students and 3 male students. The sample was given a perception questionnaire made on Google Form. Data were analyzed descriptively from questionnaires, distribution tables and presented data in the form of diagrams. The results showed that 81% of students were able to access online learning well, 84% of students were able to learn independently in online learning, 71% of students thought that online learning was effective, and 54% of students thought that communication between teachers and students went well in online learning. Students' perceptions of online-based learning in Junior High Schools get positive response results. Keywords: Student Perception, Online-Based Learning, Junior High School

This research is a preliminary study that aims to determine the interest of students in one of SMA in Bandung in learning English. This research uses mix methods (qualitative and quantitative ) based on questionnaire results. The results showed that 32.6% liked English lessons. When English lessons took place the "frequent" and "fair attention" lessons were 14 people each (32.6). Students are also most "often" facing difficulties (30.2%). In the classroom the teacher is "sufficient" to create an atmosphere of teaching and learning (48.8%), and "fair" to provide methods (44.2 %) and" fair "to assist in guiding and solving problems (32.6%). After giving English language instruction to students, the teacher "fair" often gave free tests (34.9%), "often fair" to give homework (30.2%), "quite often" to give tests (39.5%) and "Often" gives a test that is in accordance with the material given (37.2%). Usually the teacher will give a test of improvement if the student gets an unsatisfactory score, from the results of the questionnaire "quite happy" students with remedial (37.2%), "not often" skipping in following remedial (39.5%), "quite often "Students repeated their English lessons after remedial (34.9%) and" quite well "after attending the remedial program, so that they" often "studied harder so they would not take repetition in learning English (34.9%). Teachers should be able to design better learning including planning, learning methods, learning media so that learning is more effective and students are more eager to take part in the process of learning English. This study was aimed to measure that students who are taught using two-dimensional motion picture provide a higher vocabulary mastery or not in seventh grade at SMPN 4 Satu Atap Murung. Quasi-experimental design was used in this research. Quasi-experimental aims to assess cause and effect between research objects. The instrument used is a test. The question is in the form of multiple choice, there are 50 items of vocabulary variety. Researchers designed lesson plans, administered treatment and calculated student scores through pre-test and post-test. The population in this study were 168 students of SMPN 4 Satu Atap Murung. While the sample in this study were 50 seventh grade students of SMPN 4 Satu Atap Murung. Data analysis used SPSS 24 software. Based on the results of the analysis, the two-tailed t-test significance was lower than alpha 0.05 or 0.001 < 0.05. Based on manual calculations, the results obtained that the value obtained is higher than the ttable value at a significance level of 5% or 3.5 > 2.01. Can say that teaching by using two dimension motion picture gives students higher English vocabulary. Keywords: Effect, Two Dimension Motion Picture, Vocabulary Mastery
