Abstract

This research aims to identify and map available evidence regarding the role of mathematics (such as linear algebra, discrete mathematics, computational modeling) in supporting the development of Artificial Intelligence. Mathematics is a key foundation for the development and understanding of computer science, and is a universal language used for analyzing, designing, and optimizing various aspects. Discrete mathematics, on the other hand, plays a crucial role in the foundation of artificial intelligence, particularly in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Its principles underlie many algorithms and processes that Artificial Intelligence systems rely on. Furthermore, many other mathematical concepts and principles are also used in computer science, such as propositional logic, Boolean algebra, graph theory, number theory, statistics, and algorithm analysis. Thus, computer science and mathematics are clearly closely related and complement each other. Research findings, including identifying and mapping available evidence, demonstrate that mathematics is not merely a tool, but rather the backbone of all modern Artificial Intelligence technology developments currently in use.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an effect of implementing Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) based on Augmented Reality in developing students’ spatial visualization abilities and geometric reasoning on solid geometry material for eighth-grade students at SMPN 1 Bandar Pulau. This research used a quasi-experimental method with a Two Group Pre-Test and Post-Test research design. The population of this study consisted of all eighth-grade classes, totaling four classes. The research sample consisted of two classes selected through purposive sampling determined by the school. The control class used the CTL learning model, while the experimental class used Augmented Reality-based contextual learning. After the learning process was completed, the post-test results showed that the average score of the experimental class was 71.696 and the control class was 67.048. The results of the t-test obtained t_count = 1.708 > t_table = 1.669, therefore Hₐ was accepted. In addition, this study also used questionnaires to measure students’ perceptions of Augmented Reality-based contextual learning. The questionnaire results indicated that the majority of students gave positive responses toward the use of AR in learning. A total of 42.9% of students strongly agreed and 43.4% agreed that contextual learning with AR made the learning process more interesting, enjoyable, and helpful in understanding solid geometry concepts. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an effect on students’ learning outcomes through the use of Augmented Reality-based contextual learning in developing students’ 3D visualization abilities and geometric reasoning.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the implementation of the Game Based Learning model assisted by the Zep Quiz website has an effect on the mathematical communication skills of 10th-grade students at SMK Negeri 1 Air Putih in the statistics curriculum for the 2025/2026 academic year. This study is a quasi-experimental study using a two-group Pretest-posttest design. The population in this study consists of all 10th-grade classes, totaling 2 classes. The sample comprises 2 classes. In Class X-RPL 2, the experimental group used the Game-Based Learning model assisted by the Zep Quiz website, while Class X-RPL 1 served as the control group using the expository learning model. After the instruction was completed, posttests were administered, yielding an average score of 80 for the experimental class and 71 for the control class. The results of the t-test showed t_hitung=3,616>t_tabel=1,994; therefore, H₀ is rejected and H_a is accepted. Thus, it was concluded that the mathematical communication skills of students using the Game-Based Learning model assisted by the Zep Quiz website were better than the mathematical communication skills of students using the expository learning model in Grade X at SMK Negeri 1 Air Putih.

Abstract

Electrical installations in houses often experience cable waste due to suboptimal planning. This research applies graph theory with the Minimum Spanning Tree (Prim) algorithm to optimize electrical installation design in type 36 houses. The system is modeled as a weighted graph with vertices representing load points and edges representing cable routes. Results show the conventional method requires 31.50 meters of cable, while Prim's algorithm produces only 21.07 meters, achieving 33.11% savings (10.43 meters). The resulting network structure is acyclic and simpler, making it easier to implement and maintain. The design has been validated according to PUIL 2000 and SNI 04-6989.5-2000 standards. This research provides a systematic methodology for designing efficient, safe, and cost-effective electrical installations applicable to the residential construction industry.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: efforts that can be made to improve students' mathematical concept comprehension abilities and the extent of improvement in students' mathematical concept comprehension abilities through the application of the STAD cooperative learning model assisted by GeoGebra. This study is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles. The research subjects were 28 students in class VIII-D of SMP IT Al-Hijrah in the 2024/2025 academic year, where the researcher acted as the teacher during the learning process. The research instruments included tests, observations, and interviews. The results showed that the application of the STAD cooperative learning model assisted by GeoGebra could improve students' mathematical concept comprehension skills through the provision of contextual examples, guided discussions with prompts and questions, additional exercises, facilitation of the use of GeoGebra to visualise concepts, systematic guidance on the steps to solve problems, reinforcement and motivation, and rewards for active groups. Based on the test results, there was an increase in conceptual understanding ability from the pre-cycle, where only 11 students (39%) achieved mastery with an average score of 51.79, to 17 students (61%) in cycle I with an average score of 68.45 and an N -Gain of 0.20 (low category), and in cycle II, it increased to 24 students (86%) with an average score of 85.71 and an N-Gain of 0.59 (medium category). Thus, the application of the STAD cooperative learning model assisted by GeoGebra proved to have a significant positive impact on the mathematical concept comprehension abilities of Grade VIII students at SMP IT Al-Hijrah.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was an effect of the implementation of the Collaborative Problem-Solving learning model assisted by Desmos on students’ mathematical problem-solving ability in quadratic function material for class X at SMA Negeri 1 Aek Kuasan in the 2025/2026 academic year. This research used a quasi-experimental method with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study consisted of all class X students, which were divided into six classes. The sample of this study consisted of two classes, namely class X-2 and class X-3, selected using cluster random sampling. Class X-2 was used as the experimental class using the Collaborative Problem-Solving learning model assisted by Desmos, while class X-3 was used as the control class using the direct learning model assisted by Desmos. After the learning process was completed, the posttest results showed that the average score of the experimental class was 80.027, while the control class was 67.583. The t-test result showed that t_hitung=6,722>t_tabel=1,994, therefore H_0 was rejected and H_a was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there was an effect of the Collaborative Problem-Solving learning model assisted by Desmos on students’ mathematical problem-solving ability in quadratic function material for class X at SMA Negeri 1 Aek Kuasan in the 2025/2026 academic year.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the researcher’s commitment to improving the problem-solving skills of students at Meranti State Senior High School 1. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education model, supported by the Desmos application, on the problem-solving skills of Year 10 students at Meranti State Senior High School 1. The study employed a quasi-experimental design, specifically a two-group pre-test–post-test design. The population in this study comprised all Year 10 classes X-5 and X-6, selected using cluster random sampling. The subjects of this study were the students of Year 10 class X-6, serving as the experimental group using the Realistic Mathematics Education model supported by the Desmos application, and Year 10 class X-5, serving as the control group using the direct instruction model. The material used in this study was central tendency statistics: mean, median and mode of single data sets. Following the completion of the lessons, a post-test was administered, yielding an average score of 75.1 for the experimental class and 56.8 for the control class. The t-test results indicate a significant effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education model supported by the Desmos application on problem-solving skills in the statistics module for Class X at State Senior High School 1 Meranti.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse students’ ability to transform contextual problems into mathematical models in the subject of Systems of Linear Equations with Two Variables through the application of the Problem-Based Learning approach. This study employs a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method and a pretest-posttest control group design. The study population comprises all Year 8 secondary school students, whilst the sample consists of two classes an experimental class and a control class selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument consists of a test in the form of contextual story problems used to measure students’ mathematical modelling abilities. Research data were obtained through pre-tests, post-tests, student answer sheets, brief interviews, and the use of worksheets based on contextual problems. Data analysis was conducted using normality tests, homogeneity tests, t-tests, N-Gain, and effect size. The results of the study indicate that students who learn using the Problem-Based Learning model demonstrate better ability in transforming contextual problems into mathematical models compared to students who learn using conventional teaching methods. Consequently, the Problem-Based Learning model can serve as an effective alternative teaching method for enhancing students’ mathematical modelling skills.

Abstract

Educational game media developed based on problem-based learning is one alternative designed to help students improve their mathematical literacy skills and understand sequences and series in a more interesting and interactive way. This study aims to examine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of using media in mathematics learning. The type of research used is development research with the ADDIE research model. This study was conducted at MAN 1 Medan with class X-16 as the subject. The results showed that the use of educational game learning media could improve the mathematical literacy skills of class X-16 students. This was indicated by the results of subject matter expert validation with a percentage of 88% in the ‘highly valid’ category, as well as media expert validation results with a percentage of 89.9% in the ‘highly valid’ category. In addition, the students' response to the media reached 88.4% and was categorised as ‘very practical’, which was also supported by the N-Gain results on the mathematical literacy skills of class X-16 students with a result of 0.710, which falls into the high category, meaning that the educational game media developed is effective for use in learning the material on sequences and series

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning model based on Malay culture on students’ mathematical numeracy literacy abilities in the topic of flat-sided geometric solids for grade VIII students at UPTD SMP Negeri 3 Silau Laut in the 2025/2026 academic year. This study used a quasi-experimental method with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The population of this study consisted of all grade VIII students at UPTD SMP Negeri 3 Silau Laut, while the sample consisted of two classes selected using purposive sampling techniques, namely the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class was taught using the Malay culture-based Contextual Teaching and Learning model assisted by the GeoGebra application, while the control class used the expository learning model. Data collection techniques included mathematical numeracy literacy tests, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests. The results showed that the implementation of the Malay culture-based Contextual Teaching and Learning model had an effect on students’ mathematical numeracy literacy abilities. Students in the experimental class showed improvement in analyzing information, using mathematical symbols, performing arithmetic operations, and interpreting problem-solving results compared to students in the control class. In addition, learning integrated with Malay culture and the use of the GeoGebra application were able to increase students’ learning motivation, activeness, and understanding of mathematical concepts in a more contextual and meaningful way. Therefore, the Malay culture-based Contextual Teaching and Learning model is effective as an alternative mathematics learning model to improve students’ mathematical numeracy literacy abilities.
