Multiplication is one of the operations of basic arithmetic which has an essential role in learning mathematics. But in fact there are still errors made by students in calculating multiplication operations. Therefore, this study aims to comprehensively identify students' errors in the concept of multiplication and provide recommendation learning designs in instilling or constructing the concept of multiplication. This research is a type of qualitative research with a case study approach. The subjects of this study were 34 students of class VII in one of the junior high schools in Samarinda City, East Kalimantan. The data that has been collected is analyzed through three processes, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that there were still errors made by students in solving multiplication problems, including errors in understanding the concept of multiplication as an addition operation, errors in understanding the concept of multiplication as a combination of addition and multiplication operations, and difficulties in multiplying tens and hundreds operations.

Researchers conducted research that aims to determine the problems faced by students when learning mathematics, which are the factors that cause errors in solving mathematical problems. This error factor must be known so that it is easier to get solution and the parts that need to be emphasized during learning. This research is a qualitative descriptive study to analyze and describe the types of errors made by students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Cililin. The written test became a data collection technique. The results of the analysis of student errors obtained: 1) 60,53% conceptual error with a “high” standar error; 2) 18,42% of program errors with a “verry low” standard of error; 3) 21% technical errors with a “very low” error rate low. This leads to the conclusion that students understanding of the cube and block material is low, and the teacher should pay attention to knowledge, emphasizing the important parts that stundents use.

Students who are at the viiith level of junior high school must learn the Two-Variable Linear Equation System (SPLDV). The reason for the study was to see the mistakes of students when working on material problems of the Two-Variable Linear Equation System (SPLDV) using a problem-solving approach. Participants in this study were 32 students of class VIII of SMPN 1 Cililin consisting of 14 men and 18 women. The procedure for the information collection process uses a written exam which is an overview of 5 questions that show problem-solving skills. The data investigation is completed by examining the results of the experiment, then proceeding with drawing conclusions. from this review it can be seen that there are some learners who have misrepresented the question of portrayal of SPLDV material. Based on the studies conducted, there are aspects that trigger students' mistakes in responding to questions, including: 1) Students do not answer questions according to the established strategy. 2) Students are less careful in doing mathematical calculations to complete the theoretical formulations that have been designed and 3) Students do not see the answer again, as a result of which they do not follow a methodical process.
