Abstract

Kata Kunci:  Foreign Direct Investment; Impor; Pertumbuhan Ekonomi; Remitansi; World Oil Price

Abstract

Abstract

Fiscal capacity through Local Own-Source Revenuedescribes the region's ability to explore existing sources of income in the region. Data from BPS (2019) on the level of regional independence shows 11 provinces in the low category, 15 provinces in the low category, and eight provinces in the moderate category. Until now, no province in Indonesia has been included in the high category of regional independence. The novelty of this study, trying to revisit the issue of Local Own-Source Revenue in Indonesia. The purpose of the study was to analyze the influence of per capita GDP variables, the value of the trade sector, and the value of the agricultural sector on Local Own-Source Revenuecapacity. Local Own-Source Revenue capacity is measured using the concept of tax capacity, namely Local Own-Source Revenuedivided by PDRB. The object of the study was 34 provinces in Indonesia during the period 2010-2019 (10 years). The research method uses an unbalanced regression panel with a fixed-effect model approach. The study results were that the per capita GDP had a positive and significant effect on Local Own-Source Revenue capacity. The trade sector had a positive and insignificant effect, and the agricultural sector had a significant negative impact on Local Own-Source Revenuecapacity. Therefore, the Provincial Government needs to continue to increase GDP per capita, issue regulations, and maintain regional conditions to support trade activities and approach the public to pay taxes, especially provincial taxes. The provincial government also needs to increase the downstream and industrialization of agricultural products to increase the capacity of Local Own-Source Revenue. Keywords: Local Own-Source Revenue; Tax Capacity

Abstract

Economic growth as a macroeconomic indicator that becomes a benchmark for a region can be seen from the increase in the income per capita of its population and the increase in production activities in various economic business fields. The magnitude of the economic potential of Makassar City is not directly proportional to the existing economic growth. The government seems unable to reproduce new sources of growth and this is exacerbated by the post-Covid-19 virus exposure. This is a problem for accelerating the city's economic growth. The novelty of this research tries to explore further the potential sources of new economic growth in Makassar City which is seen from sectoral contributions, namely the education sector, tourism sector, industrial sector, and trade sector. The purpose of this study describes the influence of the contribution of the education sector, tourism sector, industrial sector, and trade sector on economic growth in Makassar City. The data used in this study is secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency in Makassar City. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS 23 software. The results show that the variables of education, industry, and trade have a positive and significant impact on economic growth in Makassar City. However, the tourism sector has no effect on economic growth in Makassar City. The implication of the research is that the government should strive to increase economic growth, by accelerating potential productive sectors, as the findings of this research, namely the education, trade and industry sectors, as a new source of economic growth for Makassar City. This is the focus so that in the future the city's economy will improve and become part of the economic recovery strategy agenda after the Covid-19 case. Keywords: Covid-19; Education; Growth; Industry; Trading

Abstract

Rubber production in Bulukumba Regency continues to increase the amount of production every year, to be precise in Bulukumpa District, Batulohe Village. But in fact, the life of rubber farmers is still very far from prosperous. The novelty of this research is to try to capture the livelihoods of rubber farmers from sociological and economic aspects. The purpose of this study was to determine the structure of land tenure, wage levels, education levels, access to information, and trade value chains in Batulohe Village, Bulukumpa District. This research was conducted in Batulohe Village, Bulukumpa District, Bulukumba Regency. This type of research is qualitative ethnographic in nature, this model seeks to study cultural events, which present the subject's view of life as an object of study. The data source of this research comes from direct interviews with rubber farmers. Data processing and data validation techniques used were source triangulation techniques to test the validity of the information obtained from informants. The results showed that there was no imbalance in land tenure structure because in fact the community already owned land. The level of wages given to farm laborers is not proportional because it does not follow the prevailing rubber price trend. The education level of farmers is still relatively low. Meanwhile, existing access to information is not transparent and unequal because it is monopolized by traders at both the village and city levels. Finally, the trade chain that occurs involves several actors, starting from farmers, village traders, urban traders to the processing industry, which tends not to benefit farmers. A big push intervention policy from the government is needed so that there will be a redistribution of fiscal allocations to the poor and an improvement in livelihoods and income. Keywords: Rubber Farmers, Social Economic; Welfare.

Abstract

There are still many challenges facing the field of child health in Indonesia. Children's health is crucial due to its role in Indonesia’s future economic development and growth. The objective of this research is to determine the consequence of a mother’s work status on children's health. Other factors such as the effect of the location of residence (urban and rural) and the level of mother's education are also evaluated on children's health. This study was conducted using data obtained from IFLS 5 (Indonesia Family Life Survey 5) in 2014 with a sample size of 8,907 individuals. This study utilizes the Binary Logit regression method using STATA 14. The results indicated that the status of a mother’s work has a significant and negative effect on the level of children's health, while the mother's education level and location of residence (urban) have a significant and positive effect on the level of children's health. This research implies the promotion of education for future improvements in child health. Keywords: Child Health; Mother's Education Status; Mother's Work Status; Place of Residence

Abstract

Economic growth is no longer just to improve the economy alone, but economic growth must also pay attention to the welfare of the community and be carried out by paying attention to the quality of the economic growth. Good economic growth is not only temporary but long term. One of the government's efforts by this concept is to create inclusive and sustainable economic growth. The measure of the quality of economic growth can be seen through the Inclusive Economic Development Index (IGI). However, achieving inclusive economic growth is not easy. The novelty of the research is that inclusive economic growth is not only approached with an economic approach but non-economic variables are also included, to see further this interrelation. The method used in this research is quantitative with a descriptive approach. Panel regression analysis models and techniques using stata. The results of this study indicate that technology and human resources have a significant and positive effect on inclusive economic growth in Indonesia from 2017 to 2019. Meanwhile, politics has a positive but not significant effect on inclusive economic growth in Indonesia from 2017 to 2019. From the results of this study, it can be seen that also that technology, politics, and human resources simultaneously have a significant and positive effect on inclusive economic growth in Indonesia from 2017 to 2019. The implications of this research include, among others, the government needs to optimize HR productivity. Keywords: Inclusive Economy; Political; Human Resources; Technology

Abstract

Foreign Direct Investment Inflows is important aspect of promoting economic growth and decreasing the unemployment rate. One of investment incentive applied in Indonesia is Tax Holiday. Meanwhile, research on tax holiday and their relation to foreign investment in Indonesia is still rare. This paper is aimed to measure the impact of Tax Holiday toward Foreign Direct Investment inflows in Indonesia. So, this study also compares the impact of tax holidays on 18 industries in Indonesia. The research found that the Tax Holiday incentive did not reach the expected target. Only 9 out of 18 business sectors affected by this policy, accounted for only 50% of its industrial target. The government’s role is highly expected to evaluate the target of Tax Holiday, for example giving priority and adding incentives for industrial sectors that are clearly affected by the tax holiday policy. Keywords: Foreign Direct Investment; Investment Incentive; Tax Holiday.
