Abstract

Leadership is needed in everyone’s organization and one effective type of leadership is servant leadership. In Christian schools, leaders can apply servant leadership which can be a good example and a blessing to the people around them. Leaders’ understanding and implementation of servant leadership were examined in Christian schools, while leaders’ characteristics in managing the organization, in managing stress, and integrity were examined in carrying out their leadership function in schools. A descriptive qualitative research method through semi-structured interviews with school leaders was used. Coding and data triangulation techniques through interview with leaders, interviews with teachers, and questionnaires. This study was conducted on six leaders in four Christian schools in Jakarta and surrounding areas. It was found that leaders understand servant leadership by centering on the Lord Jesus and implement servant leadership by sharing their power, prioritizing others’ development, and loving one another. Organizational management requires the same vision and mission, good relations, the ability to manage, and the coaching of teachers. Stress management requires consistent faith discipline and closeness with God, keeping life balanced and encouraging one another. Leaders’ integrity should be upheld by setting an example of honesty, humility, sacrifice, and a close relationship with God.

Abstract

Learning motivation is an important milestone for students since it provides the needed energy for students to achieve the learning goals with full attention and totality and to interpret the learning process that has been delivered through the learning activities. The purpose of this paper is to explore the implementation of the Project-based Learning model on student motivation in Grade VIII. The author's research subject is students in Grade VIII B, consisting of 13 students. The author uses research data from the results of the teaching’s portfolio and data triangulation (questionnaires, interviews, and observations). The findings of this research indicate that students’ motivation in Grade VIII B was improving. This improvement was shown through the indicators of student motivation during a series of teaching-learning processes in class. Through the implementation of the Project-based Learning model, teachers create learning environments and activities that are interesting, innovative, and relevant to the learning process of students in the classroom. Based on the results of the author's research, it is concluded that the implementation of Project-based Learning model can increase student motivation. The motivation to learn enables students to view and to participate in the learning process to be accountable to God as God's responsible co-workers. It is hoped that the teacher can apply the Project-based Learning model to help students with low learning motivation in class.

Abstract

Abstract

God gave man his commission (Gen. 1:26-30), called the Cultural Mandate. In this mandate mankind is to steward the created order, in accordance with God’s law-Word, for God’s glory. Shortly before the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ ascended to heaven, he issued the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20). The Great Commission command to disciple all the nations into obedience to the comprehensive and absolute lordship of Jesus Christ. There is no area of thought, life, or culture outside the scope of the Creation/ Dominion Mandate or the Great Commission. Thus, the extent of the Creation Mandate and the extent of the Great Commission necessitate Christian Education. Accelerated Christian Curriculum is a curriculum that has been helping pastors and parents by developing and publishing quality, character building Christian educational materials for Grade Levels K3-12. By integrating character building principles and scripture memory into the academics, the program helps children master each concept before moving to the next concept. In this essay I analyze the Accelerated Christian Education curriculum from a Biblical Christian Worldview.

Abstract

Disipline can produce effective condition for learning. But the observation result in one of the schools in Tangerang showed that students lack discipline as they participate in learning. They were impolite, showing lack of respect for teachers, lazy, and refused to comply to agreed rules and procedures in class. The suggestion is for teachers to be firm ant to exercise their authority wisely in accordance with God’s word. For further research, it is suggested that the next researcher uses the required support instrument and add the indicator of the teacher’s firmness to measure the influence of the teacher’s authority on the students’ discipline in learning. Hence, a more comprehensive data can be obtained and a deeper research can be conducted.

Abstract

The purpose of education from Christian perspective is the effort of restoring the image of God that has been broken in human creature since human has fallen into sin. The sinful nature of human has destroyed the relationship between God and human so that human cannot understand and please God anymore. Through Christ redemption, now human has two ways to understand God, which are through general revelation and special revelation. General revelation is the world as His creation, and special revelation is His words that have been written in the Bible. Special revelation, fundamentally, is a metaphysical framework for Christians to understand God’s creation. The discovery of some education theories has given many impacts in education world. But, since human has fallen into sin, the theories become misdirection and misinterpreted. The analysis of a theory of education from Christian perspective is needed to be done so that the theory stays in God’s truth just like what God has revealed in his word. In this paper, the cooperative learning type team games tournament (TGT) is tried to be explained from theology analysis. The steps that have been done are doing the analysis presupposition og TGT, then added the theology analysis, and at the end there is a reconstruction of cooperative learning model type TGT from Christian perspective. This paper might be a reference from people who involve in Christian education to practice the cooperative learning model type TGT based on Christian values.
