Abstract

Sweet corn (Zea mays, Saccaharata sturt) is a food crop that is in great demand by people in Indonesia because it has a sweeter taste than ordinary corn. This sweet taste is because sweet corn has high glucose levels. The glucose content of sweet corn per 100 g has a glucose content of 16%. Sweet corn also has high nutritional content and economic value (Hidayah et al. 2020). Dolomite fertilizer is a soil savior from the onslaught of chemicals that function to neutralize soil acidity or increase soil pH. In addition to the application of dolomite fertilizer, N, P, and K fertilizers contain three macronutrients, namely nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). This research was conducted in May–July 2023 in the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Indonesian Community Development University UPMI Medan, on Jl. Pasar 12 Marindal II Village Hall, Patumbak District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province. This research was carried out using a randomized block design (RAK) in a factorial pattern, grouping based on Factor I: dolomite (D), which consists of 3 levels, namely: D0 = no treatment, D1 = 0.5 kg/plot, and D2 = 1 kg/plot. Factor II: application of NPK (N) fertilizer, which consists of 3 levels, namely: N0 = no treatment, N1 = 10 grams/plant, and N2 = 20 grams/plant. The single effect of applying NPK fertilizer at the level of N2 = 20 grams per plant has the effect of increasing the number of pods per sample plant based on the 5% DMRT test. The interaction effect of NPK (N) fertilizer application and dolomite fertilizer application had no effect on plant length, number of leaves, number of pods per sample plant, fruit length, or weight for sample plants.

Abstract

The prediction of the development trend of mustard greens consumption in Indonesia in the next 10 years (2020 to 2029) has a tendency to increase. The use of compound NPK fertilizers and foliar fertilizers can be a good solution and alternative in increasing the production of mustard greens. This research was conducted at Baraya Garden Putra, Cisarua District, Sumedang Regency from June to July 2023. The method used was an experiment with a single factor randomized block design (RBD) with 11 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment consisted of compound NPK fertilizer (100 kg/ha, 200 kg/ha, and 300 kg/ha) combined with foliar fertilizer (1 g/l, 2 g/l, 3 g/l). The results of the study were analyzed using the F test at the 5% level to find out the best treatment, followed by the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The results showed that the application of compound NPK fertilizer combined with foliar fertilizer made a significant difference to the growth and yield of mustard greens. The K treatment with a combination of 300 kg/ha compound NPK fertilizer and 3 g/L foliar fertilizer obtained the highest results on the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, leaf area per plant, leaf greenness level, fresh weight per plant, and crown wet weight.  Keywords : compound NPK fertilizer, foliar fertilizer, mustard greens

Abstract

Sweet corn is a horticultural crop that is in great demand by the people of Indonesia. The need for sweet corn continues to increase. Seed varieties with low quality and quality lead to low production yields. Efforts to increase the production of sweet corn include the use of superior varieties. To obtain superior varieties, several lines can be tested by crossing and mutation methods using gamma-ray irradiation. This study aims to obtain the best lines in the MS-UNSIKA variety M7 sweet corn. The research was conducted in November 2022 – February 2023 on land owned by PT. Corteva Agriscience, Ciwaringin Village, Lemahabang District, Karawang Regency. The research method used was an experimental method using a single factor Randomized Block Design (RBD). There were 13 treatments and repeated 3 times so that there were 36 experimental plots consisting of treatments SR1, SR3, SR4, SR5, M6, M8, M9, M10, G11, G12, G13, G14, and G15. If there is a significant effect, further analysis of the DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) is carried out at the 5% level. The results showed that the best average in the treatment of the SR1 strain variety MS-UNSIKA included cob weight with husks 283.00 grams, cob weight without husks 249.50 grams, cob length 20.45 cm, cob diameter 48.00 mm, number of row of 18 seeds, weight of 100 seeds 0.98 gram and yield of 6.80 kg/plot.

Abstract

Banana peels that are not properly managed will cause environmental pollution. The waste still contains high water content and thus contains organic matter in the form of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. To manage the industry, we can turn it into compost with a mixture of M4 as a decomposer.This study aims to produce compost with banana peel and Zpt auxin on the growth of red spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.). The research design used in the study was a group randomized design (RAK) with 2 factors and 3 levels of treatment.Factor I there is a dose of banana peel consisting of 3 levels, namely banana peel compost with a total of 27 kg of compostP0 = No treatment (control), P1 = 175 grams / plant, 2.5 tons /ha (equivalent to 10 polybags / plant), P2 = 350 grams / plant 5 tons /ha (equivalent to 15 polybags / plant). While the second factor A0 = no treatment, A1 = 250 ml/liter of water (per polybag), A2 = 500 ml/liter of water (per polybag). Thus obtaining 9 combinations. The research parameters were seen from plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands) sample plant production (g), wet weight, root length (cm) and root volume (ml). The provision of banana peel compost and Zpt auxin has a significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, and wet weight.

Abstract

Oil Palm (Elaeis guinensis Jacq.) belongs to the Arecaceae family. Indonesia contributes 48% of international CPO production (Nasamsir and Romadoni, 2020). Palm oil is a raw material for producing vegetable oil which has many benefits as edible oil, industrial oil and biodiesel (biofuel). This research will be carried out from April 2023 to June 2023, at the Experimental Field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Indonesian Community Development University, Medan. On Jl. Market village hall 12 Marendal II, Patumbak District, Deli Serdang Regency. This research was conducted using a factorial randomized block design (RBD) which consisted of two factors, namely: Factor I was KNO3 administration which consisted of 3 levels, namely: K0 = without KNO3 administration, K1 = 30 g/polybag KNO3, K2 = 60g/polybag KNO3. Factor II was the application of Cattle Manure which consisted of 3 treatment levels, namely: C0 = Without Giving Cattle Manure, C1 = 100g/polybag of Cattle Manure, and C2 = 200g/polybag of Cow Manure. The results showed that the single effect of giving cow manure had an effect on increasing plant height (at 3 weeks old, 6 weeks old, and 9 weeks old), number of leaves (at 3 weeks old), leaf width (at 3 weeks old, 6 weeks old, and 9 weeks old), and leaf diameter (at 3 weeks old and 6 weeks old). Single effect Urea administration had an effect on increasing the growth of the number of leaves at the age of 3mst but had no significant effect on plant height, leaf width and stem diameter. The interaction effect of KNO3 fertilizer and cow manure had no effect on plant height, number of leaves, leaf width, and stem diameter.

Abstract

Straw mushroom (Volvariella volvaceae) is a type of edible mushroom that is quite popular in society.  Besides its delicious taste and good texture, paddy straw mushroom has rich nutritional content and various benefits for both health and food industry. The paddy straw mushroom production can be increased by using appropriate stocking seeds. This study aimed to obtain Faperta Unsika isolates with the highest mycelium growth on PDA media and baglog (paddy straw). The research was conducted at the Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Singaperbangsa Karawang University. The research method used is Randomized Block Design (RBD) with five replications. There are seven treatments, namely: A (F3 FP Natural-White), B (F3 FP Semi-White), C (FP038), D (FP039), E (FP040), F (FP041), G (FP043). The effect of treatment is analyzed with analysis of variance and if the F test at the 5% level showed a significant result, then to find out the best treatment, analysis continued with DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) at the 5% level. Treatment D (FP039) gave the highest mycelium colony diameter on PDA media with the average of mycelium colony diameter on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd day after inoculation was 1,18 cm, 4, 75 cm, and 6,93 cm. Treatment E (FP040) and F (FP041) gave the highest mycelium length on baglog media with the highest mycelium was 9,00 cm and 9,20 cm. Keywords: isolate faperta unsika, straw mushroom, mycelium

Abstract

Aloe Vera plants (Aloe vera) contain minerals including selenium, calcium, magnesium, potassium and several enzymes of sugar, fatty acids, and also growth hormones, namely auxin and gibberellin. This study was conducted to determine the extra effect of Aloe vera on the growth of peanut plants. The study was conducted by providing treatment in the form of watering peanut plants with Aloe vera solution exta at several different concentrations and controls as a reference. The treatment was carried out for 14 days and observation of the growth of green bean plants was carried out every 3 days. The data obtained were tested using One-Way ANOVA, Then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that peanut plants had significantly different growth in the 10% gel concentration treatment which resulted in the highest plant height, while the number of leaves, leaf area, and stem diameter did not have a significant effect. Abstract

Budidaya kakao diindonesia umumnya petani masih menggunakan teknik tradisional,  Hal tersebut juga diiringi minimnya inovasi dan teknologi pada budidaya kakao sehingga banyak sekali pohon kakao kurang terawat dengan baik. Permasalahan budidaya kakao biasanya karena kurangnya pemanfaatan teknologi produksi kakao tidak optimal dan penggunaan bahan tanam yang tidak jelas asalnya, Petani juga kurang melakukan pemupukan yang sesuai aturan, dan kurang dalam perawatan, sehingga serangan organisme pengganggu tanaman meningkat Penggunaan pupuk kimia tidak sesuai dengan anjuran, mengakibatkan kualitas dan kesuburan tanah menurun. Solusi untuk mengurangi pemakaian pupuk anorganik adalah memanfaatkan bahan organik yang berasal dari tanah akar bambu dan mikroorganisme sebagai pupuk hayati. Bakteri akan meningkatkan mekanisme pertumbuhan biomassa akar. Isolat bakteri rizosfer diperoleh dari sekitar akar tanaman bambu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah Untuk mengetahui respon pertumbuhan tanaman kakao (Theobroma cacao L.), pada perendaman dan pemeberian microkapsul bakteri rizosfer dengan taraf perlakuan yang bervariasi. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), 16 perlakuan dan 2 ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah perendaman biji kakao menggunakan suspensi bakteri rhizosfer yang terdiri dari A0=0 jam; A1= 8 jam; A2=16jam dan A3= 32 jam dan faktor kedua adalah penambahan mikrokapsul yang terdiri dari C0= 0 gr; C1=10 gram; C2= 20 gr; C3= 30 gram. Isolasi dari akar dan batang kakao diperoleh 9 isolat bakteri rhizosfer.

Abstract

Paddy (Oryza sativa L.) is a staple food crop and the primary source of fuel for the Indonesian economy. One of the many strategies that needs to be developed to decrease yield loss is pest control for rice. An extremely problematic pest of rice crops is the golden snail (Pomacea canaliculata L.). The golden snail attack on rice plants has the potential to reduce yields and even fail to harvest. In most cases, chemical pesticides are still used to control golden snails, but their overuse can lead to pest resistance. The objective of this research was to identify Kipahit leaf extract (Tithonia diversifolia) concentrations effective in reducing golden snail P.canaliculat) mortality and attack intensity on Inpari 32 rice varieties. The study employed a Randomised Block Design (RAK) with 5 replicates and 6 treatments to examine a single factor. Treatment levels A (Control/No Treatment), B (Kipahit Leaf Extract 40 g/L), C (Kipahit Leaf Extract 50 g/L), D (Kipahit Leaf Extract 60 g/L), E (Kipahit Leaf Extract 70 g/L) and F (Kipahit Leaf Extract 80 g/L) had a significant effect on mortality and intensity of golden snail P.canaliculat attack on plants rice (Oryza sativa L.) Inpari 32 variety. Treatment F (80 g/L Kipahit leaf extract) resulted in the highest mortality rate (74.00%) and the weakest attack intensity (59.67%).

Abstract

Mushroom seeds are an important factor to determine the success of mushroom cultivation. The growth of straw mushroom on PDA media is influenced by the degree of acidity (pH). This research was conducted at the Biotechnology and Plant Breeding Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Singaperbangsa University, Karawang, located in Karawang Regency and start from April 2023 – May 2023. The research method used was a Completely Randomized Factorial Design. There are 2 factors consisting of 21 treatments. The first factor was the pH of PDA media which consisted of 3 levels, namely p1 (pH 6), p2 (pH 7) and p3 (pH8). Second factor was straw mushroom isolate which consisted of 7 levels, namely i1 (Parent P), i2 (Parent S), i3 (FP001), i4 (FP003), i5 (FP017), i6 (FP023) and i7 (FP024). Each treatment was repeated 3 times, resulting in 63 experimental units. The effect of the treatment was analyzed by analysis of variance at the 5% level and if it was significant to find out the best treatment it was continued with a DMRT at the 5% level. The results showed that there was an interaction effect between several F3 isolates of straw mushroom (Volvariella volvaceae) Faperta Unsika and different pH of PDA media on the diameter of mycelia colonies, mycelia growth rate and growth rate of mycelia. Treatment of PDA media with pH 8 and straw mushroom (Volvariella volvaceae) isolate Faperta Unsika FP003 gave the highest mycelial growth results with a mycelia colony diameter of 7 cm, a mycelia growth rate of 3.08 cm/day and growth rate of mycelia 2.58 cm/day.Keywords: Isolate Faperta Unsika, Mycelia, pH of PDA Media, Straw Mushroom
