Abstract

Anemia in adolescent girls remains a health problem that impacts decreased immunity, concentration in learning, productivity, and the risk of continuing into pregnancy. Iron tablets and vitamin C are known to increase hemoglobin formation by increasing iron absorption. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of administering iron tablets and vitamin C on hemoglobin levels in female students with anemia at STIKes RSPAD Gatot Soebroto. Method: Quantitative research with a pre-experimental one group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 34 female students with anemia (Hb <12 g/dL) and were selected using consecutive sampling technique. The intervention was administration of iron tablets and vitamin C for two weeks. Data were analyzed using paired t-test. Results: Most respondents had good knowledge about anemia (59%), poor attitudes towards anemia prevention (64%), and good sleep quality (68%). The average hemoglobin level before the intervention was 10.8 g/dL (range 8.1–11.9 g/dL), while after the intervention it increased to 11.8 g/dL (range 11.5–14.5 g/dL). The results of the paired t-test showed a p value = 0.01 (<0.05), which indicated a significant increase in hemoglobin levels after administering Fe tablets and vitamin C. Conclusion: Administration of Fe tablets and vitamin C effectively increased hemoglobin levels in female students with anemia so that it can be one of the efforts to prevent and overcome anemia in adolescent girls.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with a high risk of disasters; therefore, efforts to improve community preparedness from an early stage are essential, including within higher education institutions. Nursing students, as future healthcare professionals, need adequate knowledge and skills to respond effectively to disaster situations. One educational method that can be used to improve preparedness is the Tabletop Disaster Exercise (TDE). This study aimed to analyze the effect of implementing the TDE method on nursing students' disaster preparedness. This study employed a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of all fourth-semester students of the Diploma III Nursing Program at STIKES RSPAD Gatot Soebroto, totaling 52 respondents selected through total sampling. Data were collected using a disaster preparedness questionnaire administered before and after the TDE intervention. Data were analyzed using a paired statistical test. The results showed an increase in students' preparedness scores after the TDE intervention. Preparedness scores before the intervention ranged from 58 to 75, while post-intervention scores increased to 68–89. Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference between preparedness scores before and after the intervention (p = 0.000; p < 0.05). The study concludes that the Tabletop Disaster Exercise method is effective in improving nursing students' disaster preparedness and can serve as an educational strategy to support the development of a disaster-resilient campus.

Abstract

Flooding is a frequent disaster in urban areas, including Kemayoran, Jakarta, which has the potential to cause physical, economic, and health losses. Family preparedness is an important factor in efforts to reduce the impact of disasters. One strategy that can be implemented to improve family preparedness is through disaster risk mitigation education. This study is a study that uses a Quasi-Experimental research design, with a one-group pretest-posttest design method. This study was conducted by administering a pretest before being given an intervention, after which the intervention was given and finally a posttest was administered. Therefore, this type of research is included in the Quasi-experimental. The results showed that before the intervention, 36 respondents (60%) had a good category of preparedness and 24 respondents (40%) were in the moderate category. After the intervention, the number of respondents with a good category of preparedness increased to 42 respondents (70%), while the moderate category decreased to 18 respondents (30%). The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test results showed a Z value of -2.336 with a p-value of 0.013 (p < 0.05), which means there is a significant difference between the level of family preparedness before and after the intervention. The application of the disaster risk mitigation education learning model has a significant effect on increasing family preparedness for flood disasters in the Kemayoran area. This learning model can be used as a family-based disaster education strategy to improve the community's ability to face the risk of flood disasters.

Abstract

Background:Indonesia is a country with a high level of disaster risk so that disaster preparedness is an important competency for health workers, including midwifery students as prospective midwives. One of the learning methods that can be used to improve pre-disaster preparedness is Service Learning. Objective: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Service Learning learning method on the knowledge and attitudes of pre-disaster preparedness in the Undergraduate Midwifery Study Program students of STIKes RSPAD Gatot Soebroto. Method: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design approach. The research sample was 60 using a total sampling technique. Results: The average student knowledge score increased from 78.33 ± 16.681 before the intervention to 99.42 ± 2.015 after being given the Service Learning learning method. The average attitude score increased from 72.45 ± 14.168 to 86.37 ± 1.650. The Wilcoxon test results showed a significant difference in knowledge (p = 0.000) and attitude (p = 0.001) before and after the intervention. Conclusion: The Service Learning method is effective in improving the knowledge and attitude of pre-disaster preparedness of students in the Undergraduate Midwifery Study Program.

Abstract

Background: Indonesia is a country with a high level of disaster risk, making effective preparedness essential to mitigate the impact of disasters. In the digital age, disaster-related information can be obtained quickly through various digital platforms. The ability to access, understand, evaluate, and utilize disaster-related information is known as digital disaster literacy, which is believed to play a role in enhancing individual preparedness. Objective: To determine the relationship between digital disaster literacy and disaster preparedness among students at STIKES RSPAD Gatot Soebroto. Method: This study employed an analytical quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consisted of 120 students selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires on digital disaster literacy and disaster preparedness. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test with a 95% significance level. Results: The majority of respondents had “good” digital disaster literacy (65.0%) and were classified as “prepared” for disasters (60.0%). The analysis results showed that students with good digital disaster literacy were more likely to have good disaster preparedness (67.9%) compared to students with poor digital disaster literacy (45.2%). The Chi-Square test yielded a p-value of 0.020 (p < 0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between digital disaster literacy and disaster preparedness among students at STIKES RSPAD Gatot Soebroto.
