Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is breast milk given to babies for six months, without adding formula milk, orange juice, honey, sugar water, without solid foods such as bananas, porridge, milk and rice (except medicines, vitamins and minerals). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between husband's support and the willingness of pregnant women to provide exclusive breastfeeding at the Eka Sriwahyuni Clinic in 2025. The study was cross-sectional with primary data obtained directly from the questionnaire, the population in this study were all pregnant women who visited the Eka Sriwahyuni clinic with a total of 30 respondents. The sampling technique in this study used the accidental sampling method. Data analysis used univariate analysis and bivariate analysis. The results of this study indicate a relationship between husband's support and the willingness of pregnant women to provide exclusive breastfeeding at the Eka Sriwahyuni clinic in 2025 with the results obtained using the chi-square test with a p-value of0,000shows that the p-value <0.05 means that there is a relationship between husband's support and the pregnant mother's willingness to provide exclusive breastfeeding. The conclusion of this study is that the husband's support that mothers receive in exclusive breastfeeding has a positive effect on the mother's experience, which influences the amount of breast milk produced by the mother because breast milk production becomes smoother.

Abstract

The timber industry in Indonesia is undergoing a period of growth, which has a positive impact on society by creating employment opportunities. However, this practice also exerts a detrimental effect on the environment, leading to pollution that adversely impacts the health of workers, including respiratory disorders caused by sawdust. The etiology of respiratory disorders is multifactorial, with age and length of service being salient contributors. The objective of this study is to examine the correlation between age and the duration of employment, on the one hand, and the incidence of respiratory symptoms among wood sawing workers in Bondowoso Regency on the other. The population of this study comprised 84 workers who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The present study employed a quantitative research method, incorporating cross-sectional. The findings of the research employing bivariate analysis demonstrated that the age of wood saw workers exhibited a p-value of 0.007, which is less than 0.05. The results of experience yielded a p-value of 0.001, which is less than 0.05, thereby indicating a significant association with the occurrence of respiratory symptoms. The study's recommendations to mitigate the occurrence of respiratory symptoms include the utilization of PPE masks, the consumption of nutritionally balanced meals, and the observation of activity patterns through regular exercise.

Abstract

Adolescent girls’ reproductive health can be reflected through the regularity of their menstrual cycles, which are influenced by biological and psychological factors such as academic stress. Stress can disrupt the regulation of reproductive hormones through the activation of the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis, potentially leading to menstrual irregularities. This study aimed to determine the relationship between academic stress levels and menstrual cycle regularity among adolescent girls at Vocational High School Al Azhar. This study used a cross-sectional methodology and a quantitative analytic observational design.  200 female students in grades X–XII who were chosen using complete sampling made up the study population.  A validated menstrual cycle questionnaire and the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) were used to gather data.  The Chi-Square (χ²) test was used to analyze the data. The results showed that most respondents were 17 years old (64.5%) and had normal nutritional status (68.5%). The majority experienced mild stress (59%) and had normal menstrual cycles (85.5%). However, statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between academic stress levels and menstrual cycle regularity (p = 0.005). The higher the academic stress level, the greater the likelihood of experiencing menstrual irregularities. Therefore, school-based promotive and preventive interventions such as stress management education, healthy sleep patterns, and balanced lifestyle programs are recommended to support adolescent reproductive health

Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus requires long-term management and patient involvement in self-care. Dorothea Elizabeth Orem's Self Care Theory provides a comprehensive approach to facilitating patient independence through identifying self-care needs, self-care agency capabilities, and determining appropriate nursing systems. This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the conceptual model and theory of Dorothea Elizabeth Orem and analyze the application of Orem's theory in nursing care for type 2 diabetes mellitus patients through a case study on Mrs. S, a patient with poor blood sugar control, non-adherence to medication, dietary ignorance in diabetics, and difficult-to-heal foot wounds. The research method uses a case study approach, through requisites assessment, self-care deficit identification, nursing system determination, and the preparation of interventions based on SIKI-SLKI standards. The results show that Mrs. S experiences knowledge deficits, ineffective health management and infection risks. The nursing system required includes supportive-educational and partly compensatory systems. The interventions provided improved patient understanding, medication adherence, wound care, and general self-care skills. The application of Orem's theory has been shown to provide a systematic framework for improving the independence of patients with Type 2 DM and preventing complications.

Abstract

Laparatomy is a surgical procedure that cuts through the abdominal wall to obtain problematic abdominal organs. Laparatomy surgery causes acute pain that can affect sleep quality, disturb patient comfort, and can cause patients to stay longer in the hospital. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of virtual reality on the pain intensity of patients after laparatomy surgery. This study used a Pre Experimental research design with a One Group Pre Test - Post Test Design. Data collection was carried out by performing virtual reality interventions. With the number of respondents 10 patients using total sampling. The data obtained was then statistically processed using the Wilcoxon test. Statistical analysis with the Wilcoxon test resulted in a p value of 0.003 <0.05, indicating a significant effect of virtual reality therapy in reducing pain intensity in patients. Virtual reality is effective in reducing the pain intensity of patients after laparatomy surgery and is expected to be applied in hospitals to improve the quality of service in hospitals. Future researchers can apply to other types of surgery to see if the effect of virtual reality is consistent in various types of postoperative with a bigger sample.

Abstract

Maternal hypertension, including gestational hypertension, is recognized as a significant risk factor for adverse neonatal outcomes. However, empirical evidence regarding this relationship within the Indonesian healthcare setting remains limited. This study aimed to determine the association between gestational hypertension and the incidence of neonatal asphyxia in Kalibaru. A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted involving 216 respondents selected through simple random sampling from a population of 469 parturient women. Inclusion criteria encompassed: (1) parturient women with complete medical records at Kalibarukulon Primary Health Center; (2) parturient women with gestational hypertension; and (3) gestational age ≤38 weeks. Data analysis was performed using Chi-Square test with SPSS version 25. The study demonstrated a highly significant association between gestational hypertension and neonatal asphyxia (p-value = 0.000; χ² = 210.699). All respondents with gestational hypertension (100%; n=53) delivered infants with neonatal asphyxia, whereas only 0.6% (n=1) of mothers without gestational hypertension delivered asphyxiated infants. The prevalence of gestational hypertension was 24.5% (n=53) among the study population. Gestational hypertension constitutes a major risk factor significantly associated with neonatal asphyxia. These findings underscore the critical importance of intensive antenatal monitoring, early detection, and optimal management of gestational hypertension to prevent neonatal asphyxia and reduce neonatal morbidity and mortality.
