Abstract

This research was motivated by the existence of problems in learning to write that occurred in junior high schools, especially in writing exposition texts. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in the ability to write an exposition text using the discovery learning model of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 5 Mandrehe. The method used in this research is designed with classroom action research. The results showed that the students' exposition writing ability using discovery learning method had a significant increase. Judging from the increasing average results of students, it can be concluded that the use of the Discovery Learning method is suitable for learning to write exposition text.

Abstract

Language skills are a process in order to convey ideas, messages, attitudes, and opinions to readers using symbols or language symbols. One of the materials that can support the success of language skills is through persuasive speech. Persuasive speech is a type of speech delivered with the aim of influencing the listener, persuading so that they are interested in what is being said.The purpose of this study was to improve the students' ability to identify ideas of persuasive speech text by applying the Peer Tutor learning method for class IX students of SMP Negeri 4 LölöfituMoi Learning Year 2020/2021. The subjects of this study were 24 students of SMP Negeri 4 Lölöfitu Moi class IX-1 semester I. This study uses a Classroom Action Research method with the implementation procedure are (1) planning, (2) action, (3) observation, (4) reflection.The results of the study using the Peer Tutor learning method showed that there was an increase in students' skills in identifying persuasive speech text ideas. This can be seen in the research findings of each cycle, namely cycle I with the average score achieved by students of 56.71 with the lowest score of 35 and the highest score of 70.While in the second cycle there was an increase with the average score obtained by students of 83.59. with the lowest score of 75 and the highest score of 95.Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that using the Peer Tutor learning method can improve students' ability to identify persuasive speech text ideas and students are more active so that learning is more meaningful. With these conclusions, the recommended suggestions are (1) For Indonesian language teachers at SMP Negeri 4 Lölöfitu Moi to use the Peer Tutor learning method because researchers have conducted research and are proven to improve students' ability to analyze persuasive speech text ideas; (2) For future researchers, so that this research can be carried out even better, including in designing and modifying learning methods that can actually improve the learning process.

Abstract

This classroom action research aims to describe the increase in the ability to identify the structure and elements of the explanatory text language using the problem-based learning (PBL) model for class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Parmonangan for the 2020/2021 academic year. Based on observations, the ability of students of SMP Negeri 2 Pamonangan in terms of identify structures and language elements is still low. This is evidenced by the specified minimum completeness criteria value of 75 which has not been achieved. Classically completeness with data that the final score of students from learning outcomes is still much below the minimum completeness criteria (KKM). If the percentage is not more than 70%. Based on the implementation in 3 cycles, the research hypothesis is obtained as follows "There is an increase in the skills to identify the structure and elements of the explanatory text language of students in class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Parmonangan Tapanuli Utara with a problem-based learning (PBL) learning model." This can be seen in the results of data analysis on learning outcomes in each cycle that has increased. Cycle 1, the average value of 73.7 classical absorptions of 73.7%, and classical learning completeness of 66.7%. Cycle II average value of 78.8, classical absorption. In cycle III, the average value is 80.5. This means that the students' learning completeness value at SMP Negeri 2 Parmonangan Tapanuli Utara increased.
Improving The Seventh Grade Students' Summarizing Skills Of The Fiction Books Using The Ok5r Method At SMP Negeri 1 Tuhemberua Antonius - Gea

Abstract

Summarizing fiction books is a person's activity to effectively present a long discourse in a short form so that it can represent the entire content of the reading text which contains writing based only on the imagination of the author or author. Fiction books in the form of short stories (short stories, novels, soap operas, dramas, drama films, comedy films, horror films, and action films and so on. The purpose of this study was to improve students' ability to summarize fiction books using the OK5R method. To achieve this goal, the researcher uses the Classroom Action Research method with the implementation procedure are (1) planning, (2) action, (3) observation, (4) reflection. This classroom action research activity was carried out in two cycles using data collection techniques, observation sheets and assessment sheets. The subjects of this study were students of class VII-A SMP Negeri 1 Tuhemberua in the even semester, totalling 20 students with 10 boys and 10 girls. The results of this study indicate that the first cycle with the lowest value is 40 and the highest value is 90 with an average value of 64.25. Meanwhile, in the second cycle, the lowest score is 75 and the highest one is 100 with an average value of 84.75. The results of observations by researchers in the first cycle of the first meeting were 47.05% and the second meeting was 64.70%, while in the second cycle the first meeting was 76.47% and the second meeting was 94.11%. The results of student observations in the first cycle of the first meeting were 67.18% and the second meeting was 69.47%, while in the second cycle the first meeting was 89.68% and the second meeting was 97.89%. Based on the results of the study, the researchers concluded that using the OK5R method can improve students' ability to summarize fiction books (short stories) in class VII-A Tuhemberua in the 2019/2020 Learning Year. Suggestions: 1) for students of SMP Negeri 1 Tuhemberua, the results of this study can motivate students in learning Indonesian, 2) for teachers at SMP Negeri 1 Tuhemberua, the results of this study can be used as a guide in learning the material for summarizing fiction books.Keywords:Summarizes, fiction books, OK5R method

Abstract

The existence of teaching materials has an important role in the learning process. One way to improve the quality of learning is by providing teaching materials (LKM) based on needs. Teaching materials used in this study are the student worksheets based on problems in mathematics statistics courses. The purpose of this study is to develop, test and determine the effectiveness of problem-based teaching materials (LKM). This study applies qualitative and quantitative descriptive data analysis and percentage techniques. The result of this study obtained: Problem-based teaching materials (LKM) that use critical thinking skills indicators; the feasibility of problem-based teaching materials (LKM) according to the lecturers or friends, with an average of 88.69% (good), while according to the students it obtained an average of 81.26% (good). Teaching Materials (LKM) for Mathematical Statistics based on effective problems improve critical thinking skills with a gain of 14.17 and N-gain 0.38 in the medium category.

Abstract

This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which aims to improve the ability of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Gunungsitoli Utara in 2019/2020 in examining the structure of explanatory text using the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition learning model.Based on the results of the study, there was an increase in the students' ability in examining the structure of explanatory text, seen in the first cycle with an average value of 57.66, the lowest score was 48, the highest score was 80, while in the second cycle, the average value was 82.83, the lowest score. 72, the highest score was 96. The results of the observation of student activities in the first cycle of the first meeting were 56.66% and the second meeting was 64.58%, while in the second cycle the first meeting was 76.25% and the second meeting was 95.23%. The results of observations of researchers (teachers) in the first cycle of the first meeting were 43.75% and the second meeting was 56.25%, while the second cycle of the first meeting was 68.75% and the second meeting was 100%.Based on the explanation above, the researchers conclude that: 1) using a model (CIRC) can improve students' ability to study the explanatory text structure of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Gunungsitoli Utara for the 2019/2020 Academic Year, 2) using the learning model (CIRC) can increase motivation in examining the explanatory text structure of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Gunungsitoli Utara for the 2019/2020 academic year. Suggestion 1) for teachers of Indonesian Language and Literature subjects at SMP Negeri 3 Gunungsitoli Utara, research using a learning model (CIRC) should be used by teachers in learning to examine explanatory text structures, 2) for students at SMP Negeri 3 Gunungsitoli Utara, this research can provide motivation to students to examine the structure of explanatory text.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an increase in the Picture and Picture learning model on the students' ability to write one-act drama scripts in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Amandraya.This type of research is a classroom action research with research subjects, students of class VIII-2 SMP Negeri 1 Amandraya, totaling 32 people. The object of this research is the student learning outcomes in writing a one-act drama script. The I and II learning outcomes tests are in the form of products. In testing the hypothesis classical completeness is used, namely the number of students who meet or more than the minimum KKM is 75%.The results of the research cycle I the average value of students 72.81 with 10 students or 34% complete. The lowest score in the first cycle was 60 and the highest score was 83. Furthermore, in the second cycle the students' average score increased to 79.5 with 93.75% completeness or 30 students. The lowest value in the second cycle was 72 and the highest value was 88. The results of the calculation were that classical completeness in the second cycle was greater than the minimum classical completeness, namely 93.75%> 75%. It can be concluded that the application of the picture and picture learning model can improve student learning outcomes in writing drama scripts

Abstract

This study discusses the problems faced by grade IX studentsat SMP Methodist Berastagi.This study aims to improve students' ability to convert news texts into dialogue with theCooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC)learning modelin class IX students of SMP Methodist Berastagi in the 2020/2021 academic year.This research is a Classroom Action Research (PTK).The subjects ofthisstudywere 35 students of grade IX at SMP Methodist Berastagi in the odd semester of the 2020/2021 academic year.From the results of the analysis, it appears that using theCooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC)learning model To improve students' ability to convert news texts into dialogues, there was a significant change compared to before using the model.Based on these results it can be concluded that the use of theCooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC)learning model in solving the problems faced by these students is an effective way to improve student abilities.
