Abstract

The question of professionalization is still often questioned by people, but there are clear characteristics and detailed elements that are supportive of the understanding of professionalization. Likewise the teacher's position has been confirmed as an educational profession. Because it's only natural this profession gets its proper place in the middle of other professions. The education profession requires professional competence of teachers, which creates certification requirements and extensive experience which, among others, is obtained from teacher education institutions and quality teacher education programs, relevant to the needs of the field, and takes place on an ongoing basis. When local governments have a strong political will accompanied by policies that prioritize the importance of education as a human investment effort in the region, it is certain that the quality of education will be upheld. Conversely, if the regional government views education as not important, so that the vision and mission of education in the region is not clearly formulated and cannot be developed into a solid education fraction, it will be easy to guess that education in the region will not be good.As a result, education fractions will run unprofessionally, schools will be managed ineffectively. Finally, the vision and mission in the school will turn into something that is considered too luxurious. So this condition will encourage education fractions in the regions to lose their direction in carrying out their functions professionally. Keywords: Professionalism, School

Abstract

This study is an experimental research that aims to investigate the effect of the Blended Learning Model with Moodle on the students’ writing achievement. This research was conducted at SMK Tritech Informatika on Jalan Bhayangkara No. 484 Kecamatan Medan Tembung. The samples of the study were the eleventh-grade students of the first semester in the 2019/2020 academic year. There were two parallel classes, which each class consisted of 18 students. The researcher administered a pre-test and post-test about writing news item text to the students to obtain the data. Then, the researcher analyzed the data using a t-test to determine the effect of the model used. The result of the analysis shows that there was a difference in writing achievement between the students who were taught using Blended Learning Model and those who were taught using the conventional method. The value of the t-test proved it. the t-score was 3.12 and t-cv at the level of significance of 0.05 (1.690), which means that t-test (3.12) >t-cv (1.690). Based on the research finding, this study concludes that Blended Learning Model has a significant effect on the students' writing achievement.

Abstract

Language learning demands the learners to provide themselves with basic language skills. One of the skills is listening. One aspect of listening skills is word recognition. Related to that issue, the objective of this research was to find out the significant effect of shadowing technique on students' listening in word recognition. This study followed the Experimental research method. The researcher took SMP Muhammadiyah 02 Pahlawan, Medan, A.Y 2019/2020  as the study location. The population of this research was the eighth-grade students. Since there were only two classes in the eighth grade, this study took the population as the sample. The researcher used one class as the experimental group and the other class as the control group. Each class consisted of 30 students. The instruments of the data collection were listening tests. The researchers administrated the tests as the pre-test and post-test to both experimental and control groups. Based on the data analysis, the result shows that applying the shadowing technique influences students’ listening ability in word recognition, which was proven by the result of the t-test. The t-score was higher than t-cv (5.2915 > 2.024), = 0.05, at  df = 28. In other words, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected; the effect of shadowing technique on the students' listening in word recognition was 63.80% and 36.20% from the other factors.

Abstract

Imagination strategy is a learning strategy that aims to enable students to develop the ability to focus and reflect. The steps for applying the Imagination strategy begin with (1) introducing the tofik that will be discussed, (2) then assigning students to close their eyes, (3) doing warm-up exercises to open their "inner eye", (4) providing an image for them form, (5) providing regular intervals of silence so that students can construct their own visual images, (6) ending the image briefing and having students remember their images, (7) asking students to form small groups and share their experiences, then ask students to write down what they imagine. From the above discussion, it can be concluded that the use of imagination strategies can help students in producing literary works in the form of short stories

Abstract

Reading is the process of obtaining information through writing. By reading, someone will add insight. The message conveyed by the author will be a consideration for the reader because in the discourse there is information that attracts readers. The more often you read, the more knowledgeable someone will be. Reading in education is one aspect of language skills that students need to master because reading is an important skill to support the learning process. This is because reading is the first step in understanding a subject matter. Through reading, students can absorb the information and ideas in reading. The objectives of this study were: To improve the ability to find elements of non-fiction books using the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) Learning Model for seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Ma'u Nias Regency 2020/2021 Learning Year.

Abstract

Writing is a process in order to convey an idea, a short message, and an opinion to the reader using symbols or language symbols. The short story is the presentation of a separate situation or a group of circumstances that gives a single message to the reader's soul. Writing a short story is an activity to arrange words into a written work that can give a single message to the soul of the reader. The purpose of this study was to improve students' ability in writing short stories using the inquiry method. This research uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) with implementation procedures consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Botomuzoi with 18 subjects, 10 boys and 8 girls. This activity was carried out in two cycles using data collection techniques, observation sheets, and assessment sheets. Data were analyzed in three stages, namely data reduction, data exposure, and conclusions. From the results of this study, it is evident that there is an increase in students' ability in writing short stories using the inquiry method. This is evident in the research findings of each cycle, namely cycle I with the average value achieved by students of 65.84. Whereas in cycle II there was an increase with the highest result with an average value of 86.38. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the inquiry method can improve students' abilities in writing short stories and students are more active in the learning process. Researchers suggest the following: for teachers to familiarize students with writing short stories using the inquiry method, for future researchers, in order to find factors that influence the inquiry method in short story writing material.
