Abstract

This paper examines the hadith about women becoming leaders from a textual and contextual perspective M. Syuhudi Ismail. This shows that the hadith should not always be understood merely textually, but rather by paying attention to the socio-historical and context of the hadith. The purpose of this paper is to uncover and know about how the understanding of women's traditions becomes a leader in the textual and contextual review of Shuhudi. The approach used is a descriptive-analysis approach. The results of this study are: first, the textual hadith of the appointment of women as leaders is prohibited and at that time women did not have authority at all. Second, the contextual understanding of the hadith of women becoming leaders changes with time as time goes by. So that in this context Syuhudi's contextual understanding is that women may become leaders on the condition that they have authority, are able to lead and society accepts if women are leaders. In this case Syuhudi did it by looking at an analysis of asbab al-wurud and the macro context in the Persian region. Third, M. Syuhudi Ismail classifies the traditions of women into leaders as traditions related to the current situation (developing). Therefore the hadith must be understood contextually, because the contents of the hadith instructions are temporal.

Abstract

The political theology of  Islamic fundamentalism is a  religious-political movement that wants the total application of Islamic teachings in the political system and at the same time rejects all modern political ideologies. Meanwhile, bayani epistemology is one of the epistemological concepts found by al-Jabiri in expressing  Arabic-Islamic reasoning based on holy texts,  as well as being the basis for criticism of the tendency of textual epistemology in the tradition of Islamic historical literature. Therefore, research on the logical construction of Islamic fundamentalism political theology from the perspective of Muhammad Abid al-Jabiri's bayani epistemology is very relevant. The method used in this research is the literature review method of al-Jabiri's thinking with critical analysis. The results of this study: first, the method of thinking of Islamic fundamentalism political theology is based on text (nash) or literalism-takfirism.  They make holy texts (al-Qur'an and Sunnah) as the only basis for knowledge to arrive at the truth. Their way of thinking revolves around the problem of the concept of text, namely the relationship between lafadz and meaning, Uṣūl and furu ', as well as the position of the text between substance and accident. Second, the bayani dimension really colors the political theology of Islamic fundamentalism, which is textualistic and rejects all other epistemologies such as irfani and burhani. Based on textual reasoning, the theological reasoning of Islamic fundamentalism rests on three elements; (1) The dichotomous-dialectical paradigm, which sees everything in two opposing poles,  such as black-and-white,  right-wrong, and good-bad.  (2) Islamic reasoning, which is politically-theocentric, namely a thought that understands that Islam and the state are integral and Islamic law must be applied in the divine political order. (3) Political jihad as Jihād fī Sabīlillāh, the jihad referred to here is war, both mental and physical. Jihad must be carried out to fight for an Islamic state as well as to fight against the enemies of Islam, both from within and from outside. This jihad is political in nature, but because it is based on religion, this jihad is considered as Jihād fī Sabīlillāh, which is a form of struggle in the path of Allah.

Abstract

This article discusses feminist intercultural theological (mission) models in the context of gender injustice experienced by women living with HIV/AIDS. Through library research, the authors find that the right model is to provide space for those who talk integrated with service. Service is not only for God, but for each other in a concrete way, including realizing gender justice for women with HIV/AIDS.

Abstract

The religious value of the local wisdom of the Madurese Macapat song is motivated by the variety of Madurese macapat songs that contain religious values which until now have been neglected by the Madurese ethnic in everyday life. This article examines the religious value of local Madurese wisdom in macapat songs. The method in this research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The techniques used in collecting data are through transcription, observation, documentation, and listening. Meanwhile, to analyze the data, researchers used identification, classification, and data description techniques. The results showed that the religious value of the local wisdom of the Madura macapat song contains the relationship between humans and God the creator of nature, namely Allah commands humans to carry out His good commands and stay away from His prohibitions. Meanwhile, the human-human relationship found symbolic meaning parèbhâsan with a reflection from Paul Recoer namely Kerras lamon ta’ akerrès which is intended for people who do not think before they act so that something happens less profitable for them. Madurese are advised to think before acting, so as not to be careless in doing something to others.

Abstract

The issue of violence against women not only occurs in the space of action or the form of direct violence but also in the way of indirect violence, among others through the understanding of the biblical text that discredit women. This study aims to carry out a postcolonial feminist interpretation of Ezekiel 16: 15-22. This text, if understood, literally contains pornographic ideological messages that confront women as victims. Qualitatively, the interpretative analysis approach helps the writer to reinterpret the meaning of Ezekiel 16: 15-22 and find its relevance to the feminist struggle in the present. For this reason, the study of literature is the choice of writing to study various references related to the issues discussed. The results of this study indicate that certain Bible texts written in a patriarchal context have a picture of discrimination against women. With the feminist postcolonial approach, the reinterpretation of discriminatory texts can be done by emphasizing that both men and women were created equally by God.

Abstract

Tolerance is very important for being together in a pluralistic society, there are incidents of intolerance that occur and there is a radical understanding of religion that does not uphold harmony. Creating horizontal conflicts that are very detrimental to society and the nation. From these problems, the writer uses literature research method with descriptive quantitative approach to answer the role of believers in fostering an attitude of harmony as part of deradicalization which aims to make Christians aware of the importance of maintaining harmony and peace in society as an important part of deradicalization. The conclusion from the discussion of this article is that believers must have an understanding that tolerance is part of the nation and state, so that an attitude will emerge to foster harmony as a spirit of peace. Then the role of Christians in being tolerant is made deradicalisation of the importance of living in multiculturalism. Because harmony becomes the unifying pillar in a plural society, in a beloved country. So that this research can provide insights and attitudes that promote harmony in society as part of deradicalization for the nation and state.

Abstract

This study discusses the wise advice related to Sufism aspects conveyed by Raden Panji Natarata which is packaged in Sêrat Bayanullah based on the character of each têmbang. The purpose of this research is to describe Raden Panji Natarata’s mindset as outlined in the rhetoric of têmbang-têmbang macapat. The method employed descriptive qualitative. The results showed that Raden Panji Natarata was quite skilled at mixing and matching his stories into a da’wah field according to the characteristics of the têmbang. Of the various têmbang macapat presented in this Sêrat Bayanullah, Raden Panji Natarata did not use têmbang durma. This was because têmbang durma has a character that tends to be harsh and angry so that it is not in accordance with the content of the da’wah proclaimed by Raden Panji Natarata. Thus, this locality nuanced da’wah element has an aesthetic and humanistic impression. As the title embedded in this literary work, Sêrat Bayanullah means the explanation of the chapter of Allah. Thus, it is hoped that this literary work can be a reference for understanding the nature of the chapter of Allah.

Abstract

After Buddha parinibbana, difference of views between his disciples in interpreting Dhamma result in the creation of three main Buddhist schools: Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana. With slightly different philosophies, these schools also have their own unique architectural characteristics to represent sacredness. However, due to the absence of any architectural literature, wide interpretations of Buddhist teachings, and acculturation with local culture, sacred characteristics of Buddhist architecture became mixed and difficult to distinguish. This research aims to study the influence of Mahayana and Vajrayana schools on the sacred characteristics of Theravada Buddhist architecture in Indonesia. Elaboration of Buddhist architecture and sacredness theory are used to analyse case study in surrounding environment, figure, mass structure, spatial planning, and ornamentation scope to obtain comprehensive acculturation picture of Mahayana and Vajrayana philosophy on Theravada vihara in Indonesia. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be seen that the circular shape that was characteristic of the early Theravada school in the architectural form of the monastery began to be abandoned and the use of anthropomorphic Buddha and iconic symbols as ornamentation elements which were only known in the development of Mahayana and Vajrayana schools.

Abstract

This research aims to provide instructions or guidance from spiritual mentors who believe in Jesus Christ related to how to call, mention the person of God with respect to Jesus Christ (Yahweh) and be worshiped as Savior, which consists of 3 (three) characteristics, namely: (1) the name YHWH is called the Eternal God ('ēl 'ōlam) , (2) the name YHWH is referred to as the visible God ('ēl rō'î) , (3) the name YHWH is referred to as God as the Shepherd for His people ('El shadday) as a giver of life, protection and blessing. The method used is to draw conclusions that are explanatory (explanatory) and confirmatory as well as qualitative in the form of library research using content analysis methods. The results showed that the mention of Yahweh's name is known as the eternal God ('ēl 'ōlam), the God who appears to be always present ('ēl rō'î) and the almighty/powerful God ('El shadday). Finally, it can be concluded that the three names Yahweh or EL are suitable and in accordance with the Hebrew phrases in the Bible and can be trusted for Christians to use them in daily life in facing all challenges or problems of life.

Abstract

This paper discusses how the religious life in Indonesia in the perspective of postmodernism. This paper is a literature study with information taken from secondary data. Today, religious issues are increasingly difficult to understand and complicated. Physical to structural violence often appears in religious life in Indonesia. The existing pluralistic conditions also affect the aspect of harmony. This is what causes religious consistency to be disrupted, although not all of them lead to conflict, there are still people who uphold tolerance so that religious harmony can be maintained. Human inclination towards religion is due to human nature. However, sometimes there are what are commonly referred to as deviations and conflicts. These conditions ultimately lead to religious intolerance. The case that has occurred is the fact that the existing dialectical path is difficult to find a middle point. Postmodernism offers an attitude of "tolerance" by respecting the existence of religious plurality. This research contributes ideas for religious studies that continue to develop according to the conditions of the times through the view of the postmodernism paradigm.
