Abstract

This study examines and compares the thoughts of Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd and Muhammad Arkoun on the concept of revelation in Islam, particularly their hermeneutical approaches. Abu Zayd perceives revelation as a dynamic "text-culture" where the Qur'an is viewed as the result of linguistic and cultural interactions between God, the Prophet, and humanity. His approach emphasizes understanding revelation within social, historical, and cultural contexts, focusing on the communication process and the existential transformation of the recipient. Meanwhile, Arkoun offers a deconstructive perspective, regarding the Qur'an as a "corpus" that has undergone historical transformation from oral discourse to a written text integrated into socio-historical structures. Employing a multidisciplinary approach, Arkoun highlights the necessity of reinterpretation to make revelation relevant to changing times, fostering interfaith dialogue, and critiquing dogmatic textuality. Although differing in focus, both thinkers agree on the importance of developing a dynamic, contextual, and inclusive understanding of revelation. This study affirms that their ideas contribute to modern Islamic discourse while also posing challenges, such as criticism of traditional authority and the risk of interpretive relativism.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang pemikiran humanisme Ali Syari’ati dalam konteks keberpihakan mahasiswa kepada masyarakat kelas bawah, dengan menafsirkan QS. Ibrahim ayat 4. Syari’ati mengkritisi konsep humanisme Barat (liberalisme, marxisme, dan eksistensialisme) yang dianggapnya terlalu materialistis dan tidak memperhitungkan dimensi spiritual manusia. Sebaliknya, ia menawarkan humanisme berbasis tauhid yang menekankan peran manusia sebagai wakil Tuhan di bumi, dengan tugas utama membebaskan kaum tertindas dari belenggu sosial dan struktural. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi pustaka, menganalisis karya-karya Ali Syari’ati dan literatur pendukung lainnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsep humanisme Ali Syari’ati mendorong mahasiswa untuk berperan sebagai rausyan fikr (intelektual yang tercerahkan) yang aktif dalam perubahan sosial. Keberpihakan mahasiswa kepada masyarakat kelas bawah harus diwujudkan dalam bentuk advokasi, pemberdayaan, dan tindakan nyata yang berlandaskan pada nilai-nilai agama dan etika. Dengan memahami humanisme Ali Syari’ati, mahasiswa dapat mengembangkan kesadaran kritis dan bertindak sebagai agen perubahan yang berkontribusi pada keadilan sosial. Artikel ini menegaskan bahwa berpihak pada yang tertindas bukan sekadar pilihan moral, tetapi juga bagian dari tanggung jawab intelektual dan spiritual.

Abstract

Inclusive Islamic education is a response to the dynamics of modern society, which is culturally, religiously, and ideologically pluralistic. This type of education aims to foster dialogue, empathy, and appreciation for diversity by integrating the universal values of Islam—such as raḥmatan lil ‘ālamīn (QS. Al-Anbiyā’ [21]: 107), al-tasāmuḥ (QS. Al-Qaṣaṣ [28]: 55 and QS. Asy-Syūrā [42]: 15), la ikrāha fī al-dīn (QS. Al-Baqarah [2]: 256 and QS. Al-Kāfirūn [109]: 6), al-ta‘āruf (QS. Al-Ḥujurāt [49]: 13), al-tawassuṭ (QS. Al-Baqarah [2]:143), al-ta‘āwun (QS. Al-Mā’idah [5]: 2), and al-musāwah—into contextual and participatory learning. This study employs a qualitative method using a library research approach and the descriptive model of Bogdan and Taylor. Data were gathered from academic literature, including books, journals, and scholarly articles. The findings indicate that inclusive Islamic education can only succeed with institutional policy support, an adaptive curriculum, reflective methods, and the active role of teachers as agents of change. In conclusion, inclusive Islamic education plays a crucial role in shaping a tolerant and harmonious religious society that can coexist with diversity. This model is not merely an educational strategy, but also a foundational pillar for building a peaceful and just civilization.

Abstract

Islamic Divorce is a significant issue not only due to the rising rates of divorce but also because of the complex interpretations of gender and authority that surround it. The dynamics of divorce proceedings in religious courts reveal how legal spaces often become arenas for reproducing unequal power relations between men and women. Previous studies on divorce have mostly emphasized normative, procedural, or legalistic aspects. However, substantive dimensions—such as the role of gender interpretation in reshaping authority within judicial spaces—remain underexplored. To address this gap, this study poses the question: How do gender interpretations influence the formation and reproduction of authority in the practice of Islamic divorce? Using a qualitative approach, the study analyzes data from court ruling documents, interviews with involved parties, and courtroom observations in several religious courts. The findings reveal that legal authority in Islamic divorce is often produced through masculine gender interpretations, which marginalize women's experiences and narratives. Mediation processes, courtroom settings, and the language of legal rulings emerge as three key arenas where male authority is symbolically and structurally reproduced. As such, divorce practices are not merely legal procedures but also symbolic battlegrounds that illustrate the narrowing of social, cultural, and ideological spaces. This study contributes a critical perspective by highlighting gender interpretation as a key variable in the construction of authority within Islamic family law. Therefore, a structural and cultural transformation is necessary to understand divorce not merely as a normative issue, but as a social matter that demands substantive justice and gender equality. Abstrak: Perceraian Islam merupakan isu penting bukan hanya karena meningkatnya angka perceraian, tetapi juga karena kompleksitas tafsir gender dan otoritas yang melingkupinya. Dinamika perceraian yang terjadi di pengadilan agama menunjukkan bagaimana ruang hukum kerap menjadi arena reproduksi relasi kuasa yang timpang antara laki-laki dan perempuan. Studi-studi terdahulu tentang perceraian lebih menekankan aspek normatif, prosedural, atau legalistik. Namun, aspek substantif seperti peran tafsir gender dalam membentuk ulang otoritas dalam ruang peradilan masih jarang dibahas secara mendalam. Untuk mengisi kekosongan tersebut, penelitian ini mengajukan pertanyaan: bagaimana tafsir gender mempengaruhi proses pembentukan dan reproduksi otoritas dalam praktik perceraian Islam? Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, studi ini menganalisis data dari dokumen putusan pengadilan, wawancara dengan pihak-pihak yang terlibat, dan observasi persidangan di beberapa pengadilan agama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa otoritas hukum dalam perceraian Islam sering kali diproduksi melalui tafsir gender yang maskulin, yang meminggirkan pengalaman dan narasi perempuan. Mediasi, ruang sidang, dan narasi putusan hukum merupakan tiga arena utama di mana otoritas laki-laki direproduksi secara simbolik dan struktural. Dengan demikian, praktik perceraian tidak hanya menjadi prosedur legal, tetapi juga menjadi ruang konflik simbolik yang memperlihatkan penyempitan ruang sosial, kultural, dan ideologis. Kontribusi studi ini terletak pada tawaran perspektif kritis mengenai tafsir gender sebagai variabel pembentuk otoritas dalam hukum keluarga Islam. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan transformasi struktural dan kultural dalam memahami perceraian, bukan semata sebagai persoalan normatif, melainkan sebagai isu sosial yang menuntut keadilan substantif dan kesetaraan gender.

Abstract

This research aims to examine and elaborate on the concept of character education in the perspective of revelation, especially theQur'an, as a basic paradigm in the formation of human personality. This study is a qualitative research with a library researchapproach, using the Miles and Huberman analysis method which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn.Data was obtained from literature sources such as books, scientific articles, journals, and verses of the Qur'an related to charactervalues. The results of the study show that the Qur'an is not only a source of law and worship, but also a comprehensive moralguideline in forming noble morals (al-akhlaq al-karimah). The concept of character in the Qur'an encompasses two dimensions:man's relationship with Allah (hablum min Allah) and his relationship with fellow creatures (hablum min al-nas), which is reflectedin values such as honesty, trust, tawakal, gratitude, patience, and compassion. These values are internalized through an educationalprocess that involves family, school, and community as a character education ecosystem. This study emphasizes the importance of making the Qur'an a paradigm in building the nation's character, as a form of response to moral crises and moral degradation thatoccur in the midst of scientific and technological developments. The Qur'anic paradigm in character education is oriented towardsthe formation of a whole human being (insān kāmil) who is able to actualize spiritual, moral, and social values in daily life.
