Abstract

The objective of this paper is to provide insight into the payment system transformation in Indonesia. The discussion method uses quantitative descriptive analysis related to the payment system and development, as well as digital payment statistics in Indonesia. To predict the number of digital payment users after 2022, we use quantitative management tools for Windows based on the time series data in the past years. According to the data and analysis, the number of digital payment users in Indonesia continuously experienced a linearly increasing trend each year. Currently, there has been a shift in people’s behaviour from using a paper-based instrument previously to using digital payment as a payment method. This shift is in line with the growth of information technology and change in the business model, followed by the new regulations and policies issued by the Indonesia Central Bank.

Abstract

This study was conducted on five digital banks in Indonesia, examining the effects of third-party funds (TPF) and bank risks, including credit, market, and operational risks, on profitability. This research employs a quantitative-explanatory approach and uses 96 observational data from five Indonesian digital banks' websites using quarterly financial data from 2019-2023. This study presents novel empirical evidence that the CAR has a positive effect on digital banks' profitability (ROA), and operational risk (OCOI) has a negative effect on profitability (ROA). Using panel data regression, this study finds that TPF and market risks do not significantly affect profitability. The study underscores the crucial role of digital banks' operational and credit risks in profitability while also revealing that TPF and market risk are not among the main drivers of digital banks' profitability.

Abstract

This study aimed to propose a social exchange theory in establishing the effects of career development support on work engagement, using organizational commitment and workplace social capital as mediation and moderation, respectively. It was conducted at the Bank Muamalat Indonesia in Jakarta, using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Model. The results showed that career development support was able to increase work engagement and strengthen the relationship between employees and the company through organizational commitment. In this case, the higher tendency for employees to want, need, and feel obligated to stay in the company subsequently promoted vigour, dedication, and absorption, regarding increased work engagement characteristics. Organizational commitment was also able to partially mediate the relationship between career development and work engagement. Meanwhile, workplace social capital was unable to increase work engagement, although strengthened its relationship with career development support.

Abstract

This research aims to empirically test the influence of board gender diversity on the likelihood of financial distress in non-financial companies in Indonesia. The percentage of women on the board of directors and board of commissioners is used as a proxy for the board gender diversity variable. Financial distress is measured using the Altman Z-score ratio. 2553 total observations were used from 2018-2022 to measure the effect of board gender diversity on the likelihood of distress. The results of logistic regression show that the presence of women on the board of directors and board of commissioners reduces the possibility of financial distress. The research results also show that the increase in supervision is directly proportional to the number of members of the board of directors and board of commissioners. The results of these findings can be input for decision makers regarding regulations on the number of women in company top management.
