Abstract

The time of teaching the construction of utility building educators had difficulty. Most of the students have difficulty in translating three-dimensional (3D) images into two-dimensional (2D) images. Learning media is needed to deal with these difficulties. Learning media that can encourage and guide students' thinking skills. The purpose of this study is to determine students' understanding in translating three-dimensional images into two-dimensional images. The method used is classroom action research. ) with two stages or cycles. The first cycle knows the initial concept of students' difficulties, while the second cycle of learning uses three-dimensional cube media and tests to determine students' understanding. This study was applied to class XI DPIB3 SMK N 1 Mojokerto with 32 students. Data were analyzed using the Rasch Model. The results of the study using the contextual method of 3D cube props obtained quite good results, improving a good teaching process can improve understanding of drawing two-dimensional projections. The principle of this projection image is used for bestek drawings, working drawings and other drawings on building works. Drawings at the planning and implementation stages in building projects.

Abstract

This study aims to create web-based instructional media with Google Sites and then assess the media's validity, practicability, and efficacy. This research used the R & D (Research and Development) technique with the 4-D development model (Four-D Model). Data collection used 3 types of questionnaires consisting of media, material, and language validation questionnaires. To test the effectiveness of the media, pretest and posttest questions were used, which had gone through a process of validation, reliability, discriminatory power and level of difficulty. The test results of all validations show that an average validity index of 0,919 in the Very Eligible criteria. Media practicality is in the Very Practical category, with an average practicality percentage of 84.91% across instructors and students. The media's effectiveness level is Effective Enough, with an average N-Gain score of 60.77% and a substantial T-Test value of 0.000, indicating that it may be utilized effectively in SMK Informatics learning. This study conducted trials on students who had just implemented the Merdeka curriculum.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) to find the challenges faced by SMK in difficult times to transform into advanced vocational schools; (2) analyze the principal's leadership strategy in transforming schools in difficult times into advanced vocational schools;  (3) analyze the leadership character of the head of SMK Muhammadiyah Purwodadi Purworejo in transforming schools in difficult times into advanced vocational schools. The research uses a qualitative approach with a best practice model.  The research was conducted at SMK Muhammadiyah Purwodadi Purworejo. Data collection was carried out using semi-structured interview techniques.  Data analysis was carried out using the thematic approach of Braun and Clark model analysis  which includes six steps, namely becoming familiar with the data, generating initial codes, searching for themes, review themes, define themes and write up. The results showed that (1) the conditions in the difficult times experienced by SMK Muhammadiyah Purwodadi were limited teachers, small and unpaid students, financial limitations, limited facilities and infrastructure, poor school reputation and competition with other schools.  (2) The leadership strategy implemented by the Head of SMK Muhammadiyah Purwodadi in transforming schools in difficult times into advanced schools is carried out by increasing the number of students, building networks with various parties and all stakeholders, improving the quality and capacity of teachers, improving the image of the school or rebranding to change  the image of the  school and improving facilities and infrastructure .  (3) The leadership character of the head of SMK Muhammadiyah Purwodadi in transforming a school in difficult times into an advanced school is reflected in the thinking behavior of future oriented, creative, innovative and communicative, optimistic and daring to take risks, hard work, never give up and motivate, fast, charismatic and exemplary, empathy, observant of opportunities, religious and have a sense of ownership.

Abstract

This study was on the role of university-industry linkage in creating a functional technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Nigeria. The study specifically looked into the concept of TVET, types of university-industry linkage, reasons for university-industry linkage, current status of university-industry linkage, challenges mitigating university-industry linkage, strategies for effective university-industry linkage in the universities and the role of viable university-industry linkage in creating a functional technical and vocational education and training. It was noted that in order to build a viable linkage between the universities and the industries, legislators at both federal and state levels need to come up with laws and policies that will foster university-industry linkage with clear implementation strategies, compulsory periodic internship for both lecturers and students, integration of professionals from the industries in the TVET curricula planning and implementation processes. It was concluded that when a strong linkage is established between the universities and industries, TVET will receive the dividends and as such be made functional and effective.

Abstract

The main problem of private schools is the difficulty of finding new learners (NL), exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, making private schools even more slumped, including private Centers of Excellence Vocational High School (VHS CoE). Research objectives is to analyze; (1) promotion strategies for the private VHS CoE, (2) the impact of the VHS CoE on the interest of NL, and (3) the benefits of the VHS CoE. Qualitative descriptive research methods. The research sample was four private VHS CoE. Stages of research; (1) formulate problems, (2) determine the subject, (3) compile interview guidelines, (4) collect data, (5) sort and analyze data, (6) make conclusions. The results: (1) the private VHS CoE conduct direct socialization to pre-VHS, school residents, related institutions, and the community, and form a management team. Direct socialization is the most effective promotion strategy compared to other strategies, (2) the VHS CoE has an impact on NL interest fluctuatingly. The school program is the main consideration for NL to register at VHS CoE, while according to interests and talents is the main reason for NL to choose a flagship expertise program, and (3) the benefits of the VHS CoE, among others; improving the quality of schools, making it easier to get a job, and according to industry needs. The results of the study are expected to be the consideration of relevant agencies in making policies for the VHS CoE and for preparing strategies for capturing NL for private vocational schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence; teacher competence in utilizing instructional media, teacher competence in managing classes, teacher competence in diagnosing student learning difficulties and analyzing the influence of teacher competence simultaneously on teaching performance of Visual Communication Design teachers at vocational school (SMK) in Yogyakarta, namely at SMK Negeri 3 Kasihan Bantul, SMK Negeri 5 Yogyakarta , SMK Negeri 2 Sewon Bantul, SMK Koperasi Yogyakarta and SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta. Research using quantitative methods. The technique of collecting data is done by questionnaire. Data processing analysis by means of validity test, reliability test. Statistical prerequisite tests were carried out through the normality test, linearity test, multicollinearity test and heteroscedasticity test. Data analysis was carried out through correlation tests, coefficient of determination tests and F tests. The results showed that; 1) there are positive and significant effects of all the variables teacher competence: in utilizing instructional media, in managing the class, and in diagnosing student learning difficulties on teachers teaching performance of Visual Communication Design teachers at vocational school (SMK) in Yogyakarta. It is hoped that teachers will always be able to develop themselves, maintain and improve their teaching performance by increasing their competence.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of integrated welding jobsheets that are usually done at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Ajibarang. After analyzing and then developing the use of an integrated welding jobsheet commonly used at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Ajibarang, it becomes an integrated jobsheet that is combined with existing work orders in the industry. The use of the jobsheet was developed to increase the knowledge and competence of students in the Machining Engineering skill competency. This research is research and development (R&D). Stages of research using the design Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation. This research was conducted at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Ajibarang. The subjects in this study were grade 12 students of Machining Engineering Skills at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Ajibarang. This study uses a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design research method. Collecting data using a questionnaire, pretest, posttest. This study uses expert validators to validate the integrated jobsheet that will be developed, where the average validation result of the three expert validators is 4.25 or 80.5% which can be declared valid. Analysis of research data was done by using the validity of the questionnaire and T-test. To compare the achievement results in the class before being given practical treatment using an integrated worksheet and after being given treatment. We can test this comparison by means of different power testing carried out by pretest and posttest. The result of this research is that the use of integrated welding jobsheet can increase students' knowledge and competence. This study shows an increase in knowledge and competence, after being treated three times by using the use of an integrated worksheet that has been combined with a work order with (Tcount = 11.224 and Sig. = 0.000). The results presented in the form of data analysis are the results of research that has gone through several stages. Integrated jobsheet development research is able to increase students' knowledge and competence of Machining Engineering skills. The Integrated Jobsheet is declared valid to assist the learning process of welding practice in production-based learning in order to increase knowledge and competence.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) analyze the use of job sheets as a source of practical learning in the Mechanical Engineering department, (2) identify constraints to using job sheets as a source of practical learning, (3) assess the extent to which job sheets increase student independence in practical learning, and (4) evaluate the improvement in students' skills resulting from using job sheets.This research is a qualitative study using a case study model. The study was conducted at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Sukoharjo, with teacher and student respondents. Data was collected through interviews and analyzed using Miles and Hubberman's model analysis, which involves four steps: (1) data collection, (2) data reduction, (3) data presentation, and (4) drawing conclusions.The study results include an analysis of the use of job sheets as a learning resource, such as the job sheet making process, job sheet definitions, and job sheet implementation within the school curriculum. Constraints to using job sheets during practice were identified, such as the availability of facilities and infrastructure, students' knowledge of machines and equipment, reading and using measuring instruments, and damaged or erroneous machines or job sheets. The study also found an increase in student independence when using job sheets, including improved self-confidence, responsibility, high motivation, and reduced dependence on others. Finally, the study found an improvement in students' skills resulting from using job sheets, including increased knowledge and mastery of machines.

Abstract

The study is on the Managerial Techniques Required of Principals of Technical and Vocational Colleges for Quality Assurance and Skill Acquisition. The study was carried out in Lagos State. It covered all the six (6) technical colleges in the state. This study aimed to obtain information from respondents about the management of technical and vocational high school principals to ensure quality and skills are recognized. The population of the study included all the Principals, and Vice Principals, departmental and unit heads. A total of six principals, twelve vice principals, five departmental heads and fifteen unit heads were used for the study. A pilot study was conducted to ascertain the reliability of the questionnaire items which was calculated to be 0.69. Five research questions were raised for the study and the data collected analysed with mean and standard deviation. The result of the study showed that Principals of technical and vocational colleges apply some levels of managerial skills though do not involve teachers in policy and decision making, Most of the managerial techniques of Principals of technical and vocational colleges are not very adequate to enhance the quality of technical and vocational education.

Abstract

The electronic learning (e-learning) as a mode of teaching and learning has come to stay in the history of tertiary institutions in Nigeria, but due to several challenges confronting its technological operations in the country, e-learning is yet to be fully implemented in the teaching and learning processes in Nigeria, including the teaching and learning of accounting. This study therefore ascertained the strategies that could be used to improve the utilization of e-learning in the teaching and learning of accounting. Census survey research design was used for the study. A total of 116 final year accounting students made up of 62 males and 54 females were used. A questionnaire which was validated by three experts with a reliability coefficient of 0.76 was the instrument for data collection. Data collected were analysed using mean and standard deviation for the research questions and z-test for the hypotheses. Findings revealed that; provision of adequate IT support, provision of well-equipped ICT centre in every tertiary institution, provision of IT standard for implementation, among others were strategies for improving the utilization of e-learning. Also, there was no significant difference in the mean ratings of the respondents on the strategies that could be used to enhance the utilization of e-learning in the teaching and learning of accounting as a result of gender. Recommendations were also proffered.
