Abstract

This study aimed to develop a biochemistry learning media derived from experimental research on the characterization of lipase enzymes extracted from Calophyllum inophyllum (nyamplung) seeds. The development process employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, adopting the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The study was limited to the development phase. The learning media was evaluated through two primary dimensions: validity and practicality. Data collection involved the distribution of expert validation instruments to subject-matter lecturers and practicality response instruments to students via Google Forms. A purposive sampling technique was employed, targeting Chemistry Education students from the 2020 and 2021 cohorts who had enrolled in the Biochemistry I course. A total of 30 students were randomly selected from this pool. The validity assessment conducted by expert validators yielded a score of 90.5%, indicating that the media falls within the "highly valid" category. Similarly, the practicality test, based on student responses, resulted in a score of 91.5%, which is classified as "highly practical”. These findings indicate that the developed biochemistry bulletin is both valid and practical, thus offering strong potential for use as an effective instructional tool in biochemistry learning contexts.

Abstract

Biochemistry is one of the courses that encompasses broad and complex material, including metabolism. Students’ understanding of carbohydrate metabolism is often limited to theoretical and memorization aspects. Therefore, it is necessary to develop learning media that support interactive and more meaningful learning. This study aims to develop a case-based Electronic Student Worksheet (E-LKPD) on carbohydrate metabolism disorders for students in the Science Education Program. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method with the development stages of Define, Design, and Develop. Data were obtained from expert validation as well as user response questionnaires involving 25 science education students. The results of material validation, language validation, and output validation showed “high validity and feasibility,” while user questionnaires indicated an average 90% “very good” response and agreement to use the E-LKPD in Biochemistry learning. Thus, the case-based E-LKPD on carbohydrate metabolism disorders is considered feasible to be used as a learning medium in Biochemistry courses, particularly in supporting case-based and student-centered learning.

Abstract

The Organic Compound Mechanism and Synthesis Lecture (MSSO) is one of the important courses in the chemistry education study program, which discusses the process of forming organic compounds through various chemical reaction. The limited learning media used, which is only in the form of textbooks, also causes the learning process to be less interesting. Therefore, an interesting and easy to understand learning media innovation is needed. This research aims to develop a reading supplement in te form of a chemical magazine with formaldehyde condensation content as supporting media for MSSO lectures, as well as to determine the level of validity and feasibility. The research methode used is research and development (R&D) with a 4D (define, design, develop, disseminate) model. The result of the validation of the chemical magazine by 3 (three) validators showed a validity coefficient value of 0,93 with a very valid category, and a reliability value of 95%. Student responses to chemistry magazines showed a very practical category with a score 84.98%..
