Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning models on students' level of understanding of mathematical concepts. The sample in this study were students of class XI MAN Jember 1. The results showed that the level of understanding of the mathematical concepts of students taught by problem-based learning models was higher than students taught by the lecture method. By consulting the value of F count 4.788859655 and F table 3.99 then F count> F table there is an influence. The level of understanding of students' mathematical concepts taught by the Problem Based Learning Model and Lecture Method is not related to initial achievement. By consulting the value of F count 0.092804855 and F table 3.14, then F count <F table there is no effect. There is no interaction between the use of Problem Based Learning Model and Lecture Method and student achievement. By consulting the value of F count 1.038540086 and F table 3.14, then F count <F table there is no effect. So it can be concluded that the problem-based learning model is suitable for use in mathematics learning and can increase achievement, activity and creativity. In addition, this learning model is suitable for students with various levels of achievement, not only students with certain achievements. So that the problem-based learning model can be used as one of the preferred learning models that can be applied in schools Keywords: PBL, level of understanding

Abstract

This study aims to describe the results of the development of a character-based mathematics education module. This study uses a research model developed by Thiagarajan (1974) which is more popularly known as 4D (define, design, develop, dessiminate). However, due to the covid-19 virus pandemic, the research only reached the development stage. At the develop stage, a validation test and a readability test were carried out, for the module readability test was carried out by a small group test totaling six students. The results of this study indicate that the module has met the valid criteria. based on the results of the media validator score showed 68.3% with valid criteria. and the material validator shows a score of 8.9% with valid criteria, and the average score of the two validators is 76.1% which means that the module has been used to be used.   Keywords: learning module, character, triangle and quadrilateral

Abstract

Learning is the main activity in the education process. Based on the observations made, about 60% of students obtained a value of ≤ 70. This study aims to improve the efficiency and student learning outcomes in materials related to the RTE model with the PQ4R strategy. This type of research is classroom action research (CAR). The research procedure used used 2 cycles with 2 times of learning and 1 cycle end of each test in each cycle. Based on the results of the study, the percentage of student learning activities in the first cycle was 73.44% and the second cycle was 90%. While the results of student tests in the first cycle obtained an average value of 67.16 while in the second cycle amounted to 77.87. This proves that student activities and learning outcomes can be improved by applying the RTE learning model with the PQ4R Strategy. This collaborative model is used to release boredom in the activity of learning. Keywords: RTE, PQ4R, Learning Outcomes
