Abstract

Rice is an important commodity and the availability of rice supply in Indonesia must be maintained, because rice is the staple food of the Indonesian people which must always be fulfilled at all times. However, the fact is that the average productivity of rice produced by farmers is still low. Low rice productivity reflects the capacity of farmers in rice farming. The aims of this research are: (1) to know the level of farmer's capacity? and (2) to find out what factors that affect the capacity of farmers. This research was conducted in Kabupaten Lampung Tengah with the number of respondents as many as 100 farmers. The data analysis method used is multiple regression analysis. The results showed that the level of farmer's capacity was in the medium category. Factors that have a significant effect on farmer’s capacity are farmer’s’ age, farming experience, farmer’s motivation, community support, farmer group support, and agricultural extension support, while formal education, non-formal education, cosmopolitan level, land area, and family support have no significant effect on the capacity of farmers in rice farming.

Abstract

The increasing trend of coffee consumption creates opportunities for business actors and coffee producers of various regions to produce MSME-made coffee powder as a competitor to the factory-made one. As the market competition becomes tougher, coffee powder producers need to equip themselves with the information on attributes useful to attract and maintain customers’ choice. The purpose of this study is to understand the characteristics of coffee powder consumers produced by both MSMEs and factories as well as to determine and analyze the level of importance, trust, and consumer attitudes. The sampling method used is accidental sampling with 100 respondents. As for the research methods, this research used descriptive and multi-attribute Fishbein analysis methods. The included attributes are taste, aroma, price, halal logo, packaging, coffee powder dregs, marketing place, and promotion. The results of the study informed that the characteristics of consumers are mostly aged 17-25 years old, male, working as students, residing in East Java, and having monthly income less than IDR 500,000. Consumer attitudes (Ao) towards MSMEs produced powder coffee is considered good by consumers.

Abstract

This study aims at analyzing youth perceptions on agricultural sector and analyzing factors affecting youth perceptions on agricultural sector in Watukenongo village. 91 respondents were involved in this study as sample. Simple random sampling technique was employed in this study. All respondents are youths in Watukenongo village, Pungging, Mojokerto Regency. For data analysis method, the SEM-PLS (Partial Least Square) technique with the help of WarpPLS 7.0 software was implemented. The results showed that the youth perception on agricultural sector was poor in terms of enthusiasm in doing or continuing to farm; it was good in terms of income satisfaction resulted from farming and in terms of self-ability in cultivating agricultural land; and it was very good in terms of pleasure in doing farming activities. The obtained value of R-square is 0.690. The factors affecting youth perception agricultural sector were (1) income, (2) land, and (3) education. Abstract

Development is a long-term process of change to improve regional welfare. The regional economic development indicator is GRDP. The former Madiun residencies have the lowest average of GRDP. Accordingly, the economic development activities and effort to mitigate income inequality should be carried out properly. Using MRT, Williamson Index, and Shift Share analysis, the research results on agricultural, forestry and fisheries sectors of the former Madiun residencies include the basic and non-basic sectors. The basic-sector former residencies of Madiun include the regencies of Pacitan, Ponorogo, Madiun, Magetan, and Ngawi. Meanwhile, the non-basic sector ex-residence is the City of Madiun. The results of the Williamson Index show that the agricultural sector has a role in reducing income inequality. The IW value of ex-residencies with the agricultural sector has an average of 0.39, and the one without the agricultural sector is 0.53. As for the shift-share, the results show that the national share component of all sub-sectors is positive, meaning that sub-sector is experiencing growth. The industrial mix of all sub-sectors is negative (IM<0), meaning that sub-sector growth in former Madiun residencies is slow. The competitive share has positive value (CS>0), meaning that it has good sub-sector competitiveness and can develop.

Abstract

One of the problems in fulfilling the staple food consumption of rice in Indonesia is the rice distribution system. Delivery performance is one of the important measurements in the supply chain system since it is an indicator of the accuracy of the quantity and time of grain delivery from rice farmers involved in partnership with PT MDP. Respondents used in this study consisted of 30 rice farmers chosen through purposive sampling technique in Pamarican District, Ciamis Regency, West Java. The analytical method used is multiple linear regression or multiple linear regression model with Ordinary Least Square to analyze the influence of the distance of the farmer to the grain collection point, the length of time the farmer makes inventory, the experience of farming, the farmer's storage capacity, and the method of payment for grain or the transaction system on the delivery performance. The results of the analysis show the variables of distance, inventory, and transaction systems. The distance variable has a significant positive effect, the inventory variable has a significant negative effect, and the cash transaction system will improve the delivery performance of farmers to PT MDP. Farmers make cost efficiency for grain delivery by collecting grain first. A decrease in delivery performance occurs when farmers store the grain longer

Abstract

Natural rubber is one of Indonesia's major agricultural export commodities. However, the export performance of Indonesia’s natural rubber to several destination countries experienced a downward trend during the 2011-2019 period. Japan is one of the leading export destinations for Indonesia’s natural rubber, experiencing a downward trend in export value. This study aims to analyze Indonesia’s natural rubber exports to Japan and its agreed export tonnage scheme (AETS) policy. The study utilized a monthly time series data from 2011 to 2019. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and error correction model (ECM) methods. The results showed the implementation of AETS policy and world natural rubber price had significant effect on the export value of Indonesia’s natural rubber to Japan in the long-run, but it is not applied in the short-run. Indonesia needs to improve the quality and productivity of natural rubber production to increase the performance of Indonesia’s natural rubber exports to Japan. Furthermore, Indonesia needs to evaluate the effectiveness of the AETS policy on natural rubber.

Abstract

An unavoidable climate change has an impact on agricultural production.  This study aims at determining farmers’ knowledge concerning climate change and farmers’ behavior in apple cultivation, as well as it aims at investigating the impact of climate change on apple productivity, environmental damage, and apple prices. Primary data were collected using structured interviews to farmers of apple. Structural Equation Model (SEM) is employed to analyze the effect of climate change on production, environment and price changes. The results showed farmers possessed knowledge concerning climate change based on information mainly received from television and their perceived experience. Climate change causes the increase of warmer air temperatures, drought, and the need for product facilities, like fertilizers and pesticides. However, it causes the decrease of apple production. Climate change has a significant negative effect on apple productivity and the economic value of apples. The environment also has a negative effect on apple productivity at a lower level of significance.  During climate change, apple productivity has a negative effect on apple prices, It means that the higher the apple productivity is, the lower the apple price will be. Hence, climate change caused the impact of a decrease in the economic value of local apple agribusiness in Malang Raya.
