Abstract

Human resources play a crucial role in a company's success, including PT Inovasi Pangan Lestari, an MSME-scale agro-industrial company in Malang. Despite its commitment to improving agricultural output and product distribution, the company's human resource management still needs attention. Informal performance appraisals, unstructured organization, and lack of an optimal supervisory system are the main challenges. This study aims to determine the application of human resource management functions at PT Inovasi Pangan Lestari, including planning, organizing, directing, and controlling, and relate it to theory and previous studies so that it can be an evaluation for PT Inovasi Pangan Lestari and other agro-industrial companies to improve productivity and company performance. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data analysis method used is thematic analysis through open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The results obtained are that human resource management practices are still simple and managed directly by the board of directors. PT Inovasi Pangan Lestari faces challenges in managing human resources because the company is still in the growth stage. For this reason, the company needs to set up a structured organization, improve employee briefings, and ensure objective and transparent performance evaluations to identify appropriate training needs.

Abstract

Grants are one form of government assistance aimed at supporting research, improving social welfare, economic development, education, and technological innovation for the community. Badung Regency has very high potential in regional development and is planning to improve the welfare of its people. With the highest local revenue in Bali Province, Badung Regency has become the fastest growing regency. In providing grant assistance, there are several requirements and types of grants that can be submitted using an institutional account by the community. Usually, there are obstacles in the submission process, related to the difference between the number of submissions and those accepted. Badung Regency developed the website e-hibah.badungkab.go.id to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of management so that obstacles can be overcome quickly. A literature review method was used in this study to discuss in detail the stages involved in the e-hibah.badungkab.go.id website regarding grant distribution. Grant distribution in Badung Regency through the e-hibah.badungkab.go.id website provides information on grant applications through three stages, namely: 1. Grant Proposal Submission, 2. Grant Proposal Evaluation, 3. Grant Disbursement. These three stages are contained in the Badung Regent Regulation concerning the distribution of grant funds in Badung Regency. The use of an online platform demonstrates the government's commitment to utilizing technology to simplify and speed up submitting and verifying grant proposals.

Abstract

Farmer groups play a role in improving farmers' skills through education, optimizing commodity trade and distribution, and providing agricultural input to increase output. This research aims to determine the various roles of farmer groups and analyze various factors that influence the improvement of farming skills and income of lowland rice farmers. This research was carried out in Buyumpondoli Village, Poso Regency. Buyumpondoli Village was chosen deliberately because it is a rice production center. Sampling was carried out using the proportional random sampling method, with a population of 570 farmers from 21 rice farming groups. By applying the Slovin formula, a sample size of 122 rice farmers was determined. Farmer groups function as learning and production units, helping farmers improve their abilities in cultivation, harvesting, post-harvest, and marketing. However, farmers' farming capabilities are considered moderate and tend to reduce rice farmers' income due to less than an optimal implementation of the cultivation, post-harvest, and marketing processes. Despite this, farmers' income remains high, reaching an average of IDR 5.624.103 per month. Farmer groups should enhance their role as learning platforms by providing regular training and fostering collaboration among members to share knowledge. Additionally, adopting modern agricultural technologies and marketing strategies can help improve productivity and farmers' income.

Abstract

Ensuring the sustainability of oil palm farming is crucial for maintaining farmers' income. Replanting serves as a vital strategy to sustain production and enhance productivity. However, the substantial financial requirements for replanting necessitate that farmers accumulate funds through personal savings. This study investigates the primary factors affecting smallholders' propensity to save for oil palm replanting. Conducted in Suka Damai Baru Village, Sungai Lilin Sub-district, Musi Banyuasin District, South Sumatra, Indonesia, the research employed a survey methodology. Data was collected through interviews and questionnaires administered to 50 respondents. Binary Logistic Regression was utilized for statistical analysis. The findings indicate that total household income significantly positively influences farmers' savings potential, with a significant level of 0.003 and a coefficient of 1.297. Conversely, the size of oil palm plantations exerts a significant negative impact on savings potential, with a significant level of 0.017 and a coefficient of -4.938. Additionally, the number of household members negatively affects savings potential, with a significant level of 0.050 and a coefficient of -1.306. In contrast, the age of farmers does not significantly affect their savings potential.

Abstract

Farmer groups can be a forum for acquiring knowledge and solving agricultural problems. One farmer group that helps solve problems and empower farmers is the Bernard Farmer Group in Warnasari Village, Pangalengan District, Bandung Regency.  The Bernard Farmer Group assists its member farmers in chili farming activities, including marketing. However, the dynamics of the Bernard Farmers Group's role have declined since 2023. Does this decline in role affect the performance of the cayenne pepper farming business managed by members of the Bernard Farmers Group? This study aims to analyze the role of the Bernard Farmers Group in the performance of the Cayenne Pepper Farming business. The performance of the cayenne pepper farming business is measured by analyzing the income of member farmers before and after the change in the role of the Bernard Farmers Group. The period before the change in role is referred to as period 1, and the period after the role decreased is referred to as period 2. The sampling technique used is a census, which is a sampling technique where all members of the population are used as samples. The sample size is 20 farmers who are members of the Bernard Farmer Group. To see the difference in farmer income after the change in the role of the Bernard Farmer Group, a paired t-test is used. The role of the Bernard Farmer Group included training or assistance by the group, collaboration between farmers, ease of marketing production through the Bernard Farmer Group, and the implementation of weekly or monthly meetings. In the second period, these roles declined compared to the previous period. The decline in roles resulted in a decrease in the performance of chili farming, as seen from a 6.19% decrease in income and a 7.19% decrease in R/C ratio.

Abstract

Agro-business productivity in developing economies remains constrained by persistent challenges, including outdated agricultural practices, limited access to financial capital, and insufficient technological integration. This study examines how value creation within an agro-tech business model influences productivity in the agro-business sector. It specifically evaluates the effects of value proposition, customer segmentation, key activities, and key resources on productivity performance. A quantitative survey design was utilized, employing a structured questionnaire administered to 162 respondents selected from a total population of 282 employees at Olam Fish Feed, a firm based in Nigeria. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings indicate that customer segmentation (p = 0.004), key activities (p = 0.000), key resources (p = 0.016), and value proposition (p = 0.001) each have a positive and statistically significant impact on agro-business productivity. The study concludes that value-driven agro-tech business models substantially improve productivity in the agro-business sector of emerging economies. It recommends that enterprise leaders prioritize the development of strategic key resources, cultivate well-defined customer segments, articulate compelling value propositions, and focus on operational activities that foster innovation and productivity.

Abstract

The decline in robusta coffee production in 2022 has become a significant problem for farmers in Belatungan Village, Pupuan District, Tabanan Regency. The main causes of this decline in production are pest attacks, lack of garden maintenance, and limited production facilities. This study aims to analyze the role of agricultural extension workers in supporting the robusta coffee crop intensification program, identify the benefits of intensification on productivity, and measure its impact on farmers' income. The study was conducted in Belatungan Village using qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods. Data were collected through interviews and observations of two farmer groups participating in the intensification program, consisting of 80 respondents, including 50 farmers from Subak Abian Bwana Manik Sari and 30 farmers from the Gastam Farmer Group.  To answer the research questions, a Likert scale approach was used to determine the benefits of this intensification program, and farm income analysis was used. The results showed that the intensification of robusta coffee significantly increased crop productivity and farmer income. On average, farmer income tripled after the intensification program. However, this study was limited to a small area and did not evaluate the sustainability of the program. Recommendations for further research include expanding the coverage area and examining the sustainability factors and environmental impacts of robusta coffee intensification.
