Abstract

The outreach activity focuses on improving energy efficiency at Sirothol Mustaqim Mosque in Pasuruan Regency. The primary issue addressed is how to meet the lighting needs of the mosque while minimizing the use of PLN electricity and optimizing the use of lamps and electricity based on the number of congregants. The main objective is to implement renewable energy through solar panels to replace conventional electricity, analyze the efficiency of electricity usage based on lighting requirements, and enhance electricity efficiency based on time and lamp location. Expected outcomes include increased electricity usage efficiency, reduced operational costs for mosque management, and advanced scientific and technological knowledge in the general community. The participatory action research (PAR) method emphasizes active participation and collaboration between academics and the community. The project commences with a field survey to identify energy needs and the potential for solar energy sources on-site. Subsequently, project planning and design are carried out, followed by project implementation with training for mosque administrators. The results of the project's implementation include energy usage efficiency, the integration of renewable energy in a religious context, and contributions to understanding environmental responsibilities. The success of the implementation measure calculations for the usage time of 40-watt lamps using solar energy are provided, along with a comparison of PLN electricity costs and solar energy usage costs. The analyses demonstrate favorable energy efficiency using solar power.

Abstract

Tourism villages play a crucial role in national economic growth. However, despite their potential, they often face institutional challenges and lack integration in information technology use, hindering economic progress. Hargorejo tourism village exemplifies these issues, with untapped potential and limited managerial competence hindering economic growth. This community service initiative aims to address these challenges by enhancing understanding of institutional design and emphasizing the importance of branding for each business unit. Through managerial and administrative training and group discussions, the service seeks to strengthen institutions. Additionally, assistance in creating the tourism village website, Kawitarjo.id, aims to support expanded tourism branding for sustainable economic improvement. The outcome includes the establishment of a digital forum, integrating tourism potential, and enhancing managers' understanding of implementing tourism branding through digital media. This comprehensive approach contributes to stronger institutions and increased managerial comprehension of tourism village duties, fostering economic growth in the creative industry sector, and benefiting society as a whole. Ultimately, it aims to empower local communities and promote inclusive economic development.

Abstract

Commitment to a romantic relationship is a developmental task of early adulthood that usually manifests as marriage. The government has established a minimum age of marriage for both men and women. Nonetheless, specific regions in West Java still witness marriages of couples under this prescribed age when early marriage can bring difficulties for young couples adjusting their roles as husband or wife, parents, and partaking in childcare and conflict resolution. This issue is evident in Cipacing, Jatinangor, with many instances of adolescent marriages, child stunting cases, and adolescents committing risky behaviors. Thus, the present Community Engagement (PPM) program aims to provide knowledge and awareness for adolescents and early adults regarding the significance of preparatory measures before marriage. The activity focuses on educating the meaning of marriage, essential premarital preparations, and self-identification related to marriage readiness. A total of 40 adolescents and early adults participated in the activity. Our analysis of pre-and post-test scores revealed improved mean scores by a majority of participants, indicating increased knowledge. Recommendations for future activities include optimizing the socialization process by adopting a more concise timeframe and employing a delivery method that ensures ease of comprehension, allowing the next program to run more efficiently and effectively.

Abstract

Since 2011, the Forum Petani Bersatu (FPB) Women's Group in Lunjuk Village has been embroiled in tenurial conflict, resulting in the loss of their plantation land. Currently, most members work as laborers in oil palm plantations, earning a limited income. This community empowerment program aims to empower them as the mainstay of their family's economy by establishing a family micro-enterprise that produces processed ginger products.  This is due to the easy and affordable availability of ginger in their vicinity. At the start of the activity, a counseling method was used to emphasize the importance of entrepreneurship.  Following this, participants received training on ginger processing, including the production of ginger flour for instant ginger drinks, candy, dodol, and ginger syrup. The outcome of the activity was the establishment of SMEs that produce processed ginger products with an official P-IRT license from the Seluma Health Office. The small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) has been registered with the Seluma Regency Industry, Trade, and Cooperative Office to obtain a business license (HO) and receive assistance from the office. Currently, the SME produces ginger flour and markets it not only in Lunjuk village but also in Bengkulu City.

Abstract

“Asal Batik” SMEs help children with special needs by teaching them how to make batik, a traditional cloth. These children often face challenges in society, so this community service program aims to equip them with important batik skills, encouraging independence and inclusiveness. The process of making batik is made simple so that it is easy for children with special needs to follow. However, SMEs involved in batik production face challenges such as limited production scale and insufficient infrastructure. To overcome this problem, this community service introduced electric canting to increase production and facilitate marketing on a larger scale. In addition, support is provided in the form of funds, equipment, and materials to increase overall production capacity. The efforts made by “Asal Batik” SMEs have resulted in positive changes. There has been a marked increase in both production levels and the variety of batik products, thanks to advances in electronic batik equipment which makes it easier for children with special needs to participate. This shows the positive impact of community service in helping children become economically empowered and socially involved.

Abstract

Parents who do not teach or model positive behavior to their children are at risk of forming children who have a tendency to bully other children. In addition, if parents do not consistently give consequences to children when they make mistakes or break the rules, it will increase the possibility of children being at risk of bullying. The community service aims to increase parents' understanding and attitude towards parenting in preventing bullying in children. Educational activities on proper parenting in preventing bullying in children are carried out offline with hands-on practice, discussion, and questions and answers. Media PowerPoints, leaflets, and daily notebooks have been given to 20 parents in the Wonokromo Surabaya Village area. Initial and final evaluation using questionnaires distributed before and after education to determine the level of parental knowledge of bullying. Data were processed by frequency distribution. There was an increase in understanding shown by almost all participants showing positive parenting attitudes in preventing bullying behavior in children. Education is only carried out once a time, so the change in parents' attitudes is not entirely positive. Therefore, there is a need for follow-up with in-depth evaluations regarding child care that the team continues to carry out.

Abstract

Puberty is often experienced by adolescents in relation to psychological changes, including letting go of dependence on parents to achieve greater independence. Adolescents begin to spend more time with their friends, and share less information with their parents. However, support and direction from parents are still needed by adolescents, considering that they will grow into adults with all the complexity of their problems. So parents need to understand the changes that adolescents are experiencing, and how to assist adolescents in dealing with these changes. "Parenting Adolescents: Parent-Teen Communication Training" is aimed to increase parents' understanding of the characteristics of adolescent development and how to communicate with adolescents. The training was conducted through three stages, preparation, implementation, and follow-up. There were 38 parents who have children aged 12-23 years attended training. The training was held face-to-face on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Madrasah Thosin Cikopo, Cipacing Village, Jatinangor District. Abstract

The dune plays a crucial role in the community life of Sumberkejayan Village, Mayang Subdistrict, Jember Regency. The decline in its functionality began in 2017, coinciding with a tornado and a reduction in the water discharge from community water sources around the dune. In response to these developments, the team initiated a program aimed at restoring the functionality of the dune within the Sumberkejayan Village area. The objective of this program is twofold: to reinstate the functionality of the dune and to emphasize the importance of caution in the buying and selling of dunes by its owners. Vegetative and renegotiation methods are employed through replanting (reforestation) using Sengon Solomon planting media. Sengon Solomon was selected for its rapid development compared to other types of sengon. Concurrently, renegotiation serves as a remedy in the buying and selling process, addressing disparities in agreements regarding dunes. Renegotiation provides alternative solutions for disadvantaged parties, aiming to restore the terms of the agreement and the conditions of the involved parties.
