Abstract

Kenjeran is one of the coastal villages in the city of Surabaya. It is one of the coastal tourist attractions in Surabaya, famous as a center for smoked fish. The processing and marketing of smoked fish at the Kenjeran Smoked Fish Center still cannot be said to be hygienic and the sanitation aspect is still not taken into account, so it is necessary to analyze the level of consumer satisfaction as input for improving the quality of smoked fish in Kenjeran to increase the sales turnover of smoked fish. The methods used to analyze consumer satisfaction include the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) and Importance Performance Analysis (IPA). Data was taken through a questionnaire to respondents who were determined using purposive sampling. The research results show that the level of consumer satisfaction based on the CSI value is already satisfactory. Then, based on the IPA Performance Analysis Index, no attribute is the main priority for improving the performance of smoked fish products. This is because the attributes of price, freshness, hygiene, safety for consumption, and product durability have entered quadrant II and their performance must be maintained. Meanwhile, the attributes of savory taste, attractive aroma, sameness, wholeness, water content, and organic processing fall into quadrant III, which means that these attributes are considered less important by consumers and the level of performance is still not in line with what consumers expect.

Abstract

Catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is a type of freshwater fish that is cultivated commercially by Indonesian people. One of the key factors for success in aquaculture is water quality. Poor water quality can cause stress to fish and lead to the proliferation of parasites. Parasites are organisms whose existence depends on other organisms. This research aims to analyze the parasites that attack sangkuriang catfish (C. gariepinus) in the SD Mina Jaya People's Hatchery Unit. It is hoped that this research activity can determine the parasites that attack catfish. Data collection was carried out using a descriptive method, with the sampling method for sangkuriang catfish (C. gariepinus) carried out randomly (random sampling). The research resulted in the identification of parasites that infect catfish in cultivation ponds at UPR SD Mina Jaya consisting of 4 types of parasites from the Phylum Nematoda. The types of parasites obtained were Dactylogyrus sp., Gyrodactylus sp., Octolasmis sp., Capilaria hepatica. The water quality in the cultivation ponds was also still classified as normal, namely a temperature of 290C, pH 8.5, and DO 7.5 mg/L.

Abstract

Karotenoid, a pigment responsible for yellow, orange, and red hues, was explored in this study to ascertain its impact on enhancing the coloration of clownfish (Amphiprion percula) by incorporating red dragon fruit rind (Hylocereus undatus) flour into their feed. The research involved four distinct treatments: (a) FF999 commercial feed without red dragon fruit rind flour addition, (b) 10% red dragon fruit rind flour + 90% FF999 pellets, (c) 15% red dragon fruit rind flour + 85% FF999 pellets, and (d) 20% red dragon fruit rind flour + 80% FF999 pellets. Evaluation parameters included color measurements using RGB values, transformed into HSB values. The method used is a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), the final HSB color quality data is tabulated using the Excel application and analyzed descriptively. Results revealed that the inclusion of red dragon fruit rind flour induced changes in the Hue, Saturation, and Brightness (HSB) values, effectively maintaining the clownfish's color akin to their natural hue (A. percula) during cultivation.

Abstract

Tilapia is a fishery commodity with high economic value and great demand among farmers. Tilapia fish production in Indonesia recorded an increase from 371 thousand tons in 2021 to 401 thousand tons in 2022, making it one of the largest cultivated fish after shrimp and salmon according to FAO. The advantages of tilapia lie in its high protein content, delicious taste, stable price, ease of cultivation and ability to adapt to new environments and tolerance to low oxygen conditions. However, the main challenge in cultivating tilapia is the attack of non-pathogenic diseases which can cause prolonged stress, decreased body resistance, slow growth and death. Identification of this disease based on water quality is crucial to maintaining fish health and the continuity of cultivation. This study focuses on the identification and analysis of ectoparasites that infect tilapia in the Riyan Community Hatchery Unit (UPR), with the discovery that Dactylogyrus sp. and Trichodina sp. are the two main ectoparasites that affect the health and productivity of fish in that location. Further attention and development of effective control methods are needed to reduce the negative impact of this ectoparasite infection.

Abstract

Aquaponics is a system that integrates fish cultivation with plant cultivation in a mutualistic symbiotic manner. This system uses wastewater from fish as nutrients for plants, while the plants clean the water through root filtration. This paper aims to analyze the efficiency of aquaponic systems in fish and plant production, with a focus on case studies conducted in urban environments. The analysis results show that the aquaponics system in fish and plant production in urban environments can achieve a high level of efficiency. This system is more efficient than conventional cultivation methods bein terms of water use cause water can be reused and not wasted. Efficiency in energy use is also visible because aquaponic systems reduce energy requirements for water circulation and environmental maintenance of plants. In addition, analysis of the nutritional efficiency of the aquaponic system shows that nutrients from fish waste can be utilized optimally by plants so that the use of additional fertilizer can be reduced. This has positive implications in terms of cost savings and reduced environmental impact. This case study shows that aquaponic systems are a potential solution to increase the efficiency of fish and plant production, especially in urban environments where land and resources are limited. Apart from production efficiency, this system also has additional benefits, such as local food production, reduction of organic waste, and development of sustainable agriculture.
