Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of creative thinking skills among junior high school students in the subject of flat-sided solid geometry and the dominance of conventional learning methods that do not encourage concept exploration. This study aims to describe the application of the GeoGebra-assisted Discovery Learning model and examine the improvement in students' creative thinking skills. This research employed a classroom action research design through the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were eighth-grade junior high school students. The instruments used included a creative thinking ability test, observation sheets, and documentation. The results showed an increase in creative thinking skills in each cycle, as indicated by improvements in the indicators of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Learning became more interactive, students were more active in exploring concepts, and were able to find various problem-solving strategies. Theoretically, these results reinforce the constructivist paradigm that mathematical creativity develops through structured exploration and discovery. Practically, this model can be an alternative for learning spatial geometry by paying attention to time management and optimal syntax implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to optimize the tsunami disaster logistics distribution route in Aceh Province by using the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm combined with parameter tuning. Aceh is an area with a high level of earthquake vulnerability, making it prone to tsunamis such as the one that occurred in 2004, thus requiring a fast and efficient logistics distribution system. The Aceh Logistics Building was designated as the distribution center, while nine evacuation points from the evacuation route map of the Banda Aceh City GIS Technical Implementation Unit (UPTB) were used as destination points. The distances between points were calculated using Google Maps and arranged in a distance matrix. Parameter tuning was performed using the Grid Search method through MATLAB to determine the shortest route. The results of the study show that the minimum total distance obtained is 664.3 km to reach all evacuation points and return to the logistics warehouse. This value is smaller compared to the route before the parameter tuning process, indicating an improvement in distribution efficiency. Therefore, the implementation of the ACO algorithm combined with the Grid Search method is able to produce a more optimal route and support faster and more targeted logistics distribution in emergency conditions.

Abstract

This paper examines the existence and uniqueness of solutions to Linear Quadratic (LQ) optimal control problems with infinite time horizons in time-varying dynamic systems. By extending Sontag's Theorem to semi-infinite intervals, the properties of The Riccati Differential Equation’s solutions are analyzed under assumptions of essential boundedness and boundedness of the system matrix and cost weights. It is proven that the Riccati matrix solution P(t) exists globally, remains positive definite, and converges to the steady-state limit P∞. The uniqueness of the optimal control–state pair (x,u) is obtained through P(t)-based co-state analysis. Simulations on satellite attitude control systems demonstrate convergence and robustness towards periodic disturbances, supporting applications in adaptive control, robust estimation, and time-varying filtering.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in elementary schools generally remains abstract and disconnected from students’ real- life experiences, which contributes to low engagement and conceptual understanding. In agricultural-based communities, farming activities hold significant potential as sources of mathematical learning through an ethnomathematical approach. This study aims to explore how agricultural ethnomathematics can be integrated into mathematics learning in elementary schools within a local context. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by examining 12 national and international scholarly articles indexed in Scopus to Sinta 3 from the past seven years. The analysis focused on research objectives, cultural contexts, mathematical concepts developed, and the instructional models applied. The results show that agricultural practices contain mathematical concepts relevant to measurement, geometry, fractions, and ratio topics. However, the implementation of agricultural ethnomathematics remains limited due to teachers’ low cultural- mathematical literacy and the lack of structured teaching materials. This study concludes that integrating agricultural ethnomathematics can improve students’ conceptual understanding and connect learning with their real-life experiences. Therefore, the development of contextual learning modules and instructional models based on local farming practices is recommended for further application.

Abstract

Commognitive conflict often occurs in students at the beginning of their. This study aims to describe commognitive conflict, based on narratives experienced by students when solving contextual problems on exponential material. This study is a qualitative study with purposive sampling. A total of 20 undergraduate students of the Mathematics Education as a participant. They worked on one problem independently for 30 minutes, then their work was grouped based on correct and incorrect results. The incorrect results were divided into two groups. Each group selected one person as a research subject. Their answers were clarified through in-depth semi-structured interviews to obtain information about the causes of the conflict. The results showed that the conflict caused by their understanding of the knowledge they gained in high school was not mastered properly. Students become confused and unsure of the accuracy of their answers and knowledge. However, ultimately, accepting the new knowledge conveyed by experts is one solution. This conflict can be minimized by repeating the material from high school, which can be in the form of worksheets or assignments, so that commognitive conflict is expected to prevent recurrence.
